  1. It's been a long time since I've modded Oblivion so it's likely I've missed something. Here's what I've done to get to this point: 1. Look for and install various mods, looking through docs to ensure compatibility 2. Install all mods with Wyre Bash 3. Use LOOT to sort the mod load order 4. Use Tes4Edit to fix the official DLCs dirty edits, etc 5. Generate the proper bashed patch using default settings After starting up the game it would instantly crash. I did some various troubleshooting and realized that the BSA Redirection setting would add "sArchiveList=ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa, " to my ini, and if I deleted that line the game would start up properly. Here's my load order pasted from LOOT: 0 0 Oblivion.esm 1 1 Mart's Monster Mod.esm 2 2 Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esm 3 3 Mart's Monster Mod for OOO.esm 4 4 Knights - Revelation.esm 5 5 All Natural Base.esm 6 6 Armamentarium.esm 7 7 Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp Oblivion Citadel Door Fix.esp 8 8 DLCShiveringIsles.esp 9 9 Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch.esp 10 a DLCBattlehornCastle.esp 11 b DLCBattlehornCastle - Unofficial Patch.esp 12 c DLCThievesDen.esp 13 d DLCThievesDen - Unofficial Patch.esp 14 e DLCThievesDen - Unofficial Patch - SSSB.esp 15 f DLCMehrunesRazor.esp 16 10 DLCMehrunesRazor - Unofficial Patch.esp 17 11 DLCVileLair.esp 18 12 DLCVileLair - Unofficial Patch.esp 19 13 DLCHorseArmor.esp 20 14 DLCHorseArmor - Unofficial Patch.esp 21 15 DLCOrrery.esp 22 16 DLCOrrery - Unofficial Patch.esp 23 17 DLCSpellTomes.esp DLCSpellTomes - Unofficial Patch.esp 24 18 DLCFrostcrag.esp 25 19 DLCFrostcrag - Unofficial Patch.esp 26 1a Knights.esp 27 1b Knights - Unofficial Patch.esp Mart's Monster Mod - Looting NPCs & Creatures.esp Mart's Monster Mod - DLCHorseArmor+Slofs .esp Mart's Monster Mod - Resized Races.esp Mart's Monster Mod - Divserse Wisp and VASE Addon.esp Mart's Monster Mod - Shivering Isles.esp 28 1c OblivionReloaded.esp 29 1d All Natural - Real Lights.esp 30 1e Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp 31 1f Better Dungeons.esp 32 20 Mart's Monster Mod for OOO.esp 33 21 Mart's Monster Mod - Additional Enemy NPC Vars.esp 34 22 Oblivion Uncut.esp 35 23 Sounds of Cyrodiil.esp 36 24 Oblivion Uncut - OOO Adaptation.esp Mart's Monster Mod for OOO - Knights .esp 37 25 Mart's Monster Mod - City Defences.esp 38 26 All Natural - SI.esp 39 27 All Natural.esp Sounds of Cyrodiil - UOP.esp 40 28 Sutch Village.esp 41 29 Knights - Revelation.esp 42 2a Mart's Monster Mod - Diverse WaterLife.esp All Natural - MMM Patch.esp 43 2b Faregyl.esp 44 2c DarkBrotherhoodChronicles.esp 45 2d Sounds of Cyrodiil - KOTN Add-on.esp 46 2e Sounds of Cyrodiil - Mehrune's Razor Add-On.esp 47 2f Sounds of Cyrodiil - Thieves' Den Add-On.esp ArmamentariumLLMagicOOO.esp ArmamentariumLL4OOO.esp 48 30 Immersive Weapons.esp ArmamentariumLLVendors.esp 49 31 Idle Dialogue.esp 50 32 00 Realistic Player Speech.esp 51 33 ImpeREAL Empire - Unique Forts.esp 52 34 Better Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary.esp 53 35 Shop Visitors.esp 54 36 RAEVWD Cities.esp 55 37 Alternative Beginnings.esp 56 38 Mart's Monster Mod - Extra Wounding.esp 57 39 Frostcrag Village.esp 58 3a Vergayun.esp 59 3b Feldscar.esp 60 3c Gottshaw Village.esp 61 3d Urasek.esp Oblivion DLC Delayers.esp 62 3e Reedstand.esp 63 3f RAEVWD Imperial City.esp 64 40 Mart's Monster Mod - Farm Animals.esp 65 41 Populated Prisons.esp 66 42 Molapi.esp 67 43 Mart's Monster Mod - Dungeons of MMM.esp 68 44 CapesandCloaks.esp 69 45 ImpeREAL Empire - Unique Forts - OOO FCOM patch by Xtudo.esp 70 46 ArmamentariumArtifacts.esp BDBS - Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul.esp 71 47 RAEVWD New Sheoth.esp All Natural - Indoor Weather Filter For Mods.esp 72 48 Bashed Patch, 0.esp 73 49 Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul.esp
  2. Well after a couple of weeks of being busy I went and completed my fresh Oblivion install, and just for the hell of it I also backed up my old data folder beforehand. Now I have my Oblivion on another hard drive, and once that install was fresh with Shivering Isles I made a copy of that fresh folder so if this ever happens again I'm all set. Now just to see what would happen I took my old data folder and copied it into the new Oblivion installation (Of course after I made my clean backup) to see what would happen if I tried to load that save without OBGE. Well... It works completely, no crashes at all. New Oblivion installation but same data folder file by file. I have no idea what the problem was (And it did transfer over to Nehrim somehow which I mentioned in my old post) but now it all works. We will just be left with a mystery.
  3. I've been looking through those folders and making sure they match up, still to no avail. But as an update, and something that seems to change everything, I just installed Nehrim, and after setting that up it ends up having the exact same crashing problem that Oblivion has. This makes me think that my computer is the issue, unless you can't safely install Nehrim when you have an already modded Oblivion. The only thing I can think of to change it up is to completely remove oblivion using the guide and starting all over again, if I want to use my old Oblivion saves that would just involve installing all the same mods (Which I still have) But installing Nehrim first in case it takes some mod files by mistake, that's all I can really think of.
  4. Well the crash started when I first deleted all the files, and I didn't change the order at all or do anything with the patch. I assumed if the order was correct before it wouldn't change with some deleted files. Then I did redo the patch to see if that was an issue, then I reinstalled OBGE and all the plugins I had to exactly the way it was before and still crash, so now I'm removing it for a second time using your directions. I'll check the patch as well. Also I don't have that many mods installed, it just appears that way because of official dlc and all the MMM and BC files.
  5. Well if any of those files could cause this problem it will be worth taking a look, I had assumed you were finished. I have nothing to lose giving it a shot, and in fact my sneaking suspicion before was that liquid water was involved because if I remember correctly that was the last thing I removed, but that is no guarentee. As for mods I haven't touched anything other than rebuilding the bashed patch and running BOSS just to be safe. I'll add that to my troubleshooting list as well.
  6. I matched the folders there and I still have the same issue. Looks like there might be no hope other than reinstalling and seeing if it works, unless you have any other suggestions? I do appreciate the effort regardless though, thank you. Also to add another detail that will probably be relevant, when the game crashes I don't get any sort of error dialog box, and nothing is listed in the event viewer at all. I load up the game and click continue or any other save, I see the load screen and then the desktop. The only difference with clicking new game is I get the load screen, the loading bar swiftly fills and then the desktop. No sounds, dialogs or anything, just instantly desktop.
  7. I had some hope with this one, but upon inspecting the file that line isn't in there. :(
  8. If that doesn't work, then I can post the shaders from my working installation and my backup just before I installed obge. We can look to see what's missing. Well when I reinstalled OBGE again it didn't stop the problem, and I did try that ini tweak, so I must have deleted something incorrectly, problem is I have no clue what it could be as I was very precise about which files I removed (All the sdps are untouched). I haven't tried that bat file yet, so my next course of action will be trying to remove everything in that more proper way and see what happens. Also I did try the ini trick before and the crash still happens, so we know it isn't there. EDIT: So I tried the batch file, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling OBGE several times and no dice, so I believe we're at the point where something went wrong with a file. I can't load a save or even create a new game without the instant crash, so I've even ruled out saves being the issue and I've also removed weOPS.dll and even tried loading the game with the regular launcher skipping OBSE and the problem still happens.
  9. Thanks for the reply: When I uninstalled OBGE I was getting that message when loading a save that content was missing, and of course the instant crash (My location was the dark brotherhood sanctuary, and I have a ring that lights 60ft active on) So what I tried after that was reinstalling OBGE, as well as the optional effects I already had and used BOSS to reset the order. So now when I try to load that save it doesn't tell me there's missing content (Of course because the mod is back so everything is the same as when I made the save) But it instantly crashes anyway. :( I tried loading a super old save as well and the same thing happened. The next thing I tried was deleting OBGE.ini in the user folder (Something I missed before) and also backed up my oblivion.ini and loaded the game, and it still crashed. So I restored my ini, and tried loading without the OBSE loader. Still no dice. I've read that OBGE doesn't interfere with things like other mods do and is just a shader, and people swear it never causes these issues unless it's not installed correctly, but it is the only thing that has changed with this crashing result, I haven't uninstalled or installed any other mods in the process, I just wanted to remove this one because I imagined it would boost my frame rate. :( I'm not sure what else to try other than reinstalling the game, which will definitely be a long step I would like to avoid if possible. EDIT: The Oblivion Crash Prevention System actually throws up a log when this crash happens, of course it's definitely not being prevented because it's happening but here's the log if anyone can interpret it. Sat Feb 09 22:38:52 2013 OCPS build 2009-03-28 prevented crash at offset 0x000b29ce (eip: 0x004b29ce, sub_4B2980). 10. As the title implies, I uninstalled the latest OBGE version, as well as the shader package with it's esp file and the liquid water plugin with its esp, and now I can't load any of my saves without an instant crash. I get the load screen, and instantly it goes to the desktop without an error message. I've been researching this and the only I found was someone accidentally deleting shader files, but I didn't touch any of those. Also I reinstalled all the mods again, made the bashed patch again and when I go to load I don't get the error saying content is missing, but it still crashes anyway now. I had no idea removing this could cause so many problems. I also tried the Oblivion.ini trick to no avail. Any help would be appreciated as I've logged a lot of hours into this character and this is a disaster. :( --UPDATE: Well it doesn't seem to be an issue with my saves, if I try to start a new game the loading bar goes and bam instant crash.
  11. Wow that water is a killer than, I'm running a GTX570 and I imagine that my fps is around the same in those situations (I haven't been checking it but it's definitely low) I did end up setting up streamline, the settings weren't as imposing as I thought they would be. I set the fog settings for 15 from oblivion.ini and the fps did increase there which is nice. But I'll definitely try that trick with the reflections in the water. I also did some cleaning on Midas, it removed 13 UDRs and 11 dirty edits if I remember correctly, and I haven't noticed any issues with that. The nice thing is since doing all this my crashing seems to have gone down a lot. I might have found a definitive cause though, after examining my load order I spotted the alternate start mod in the list with a big dot next to it rather than a check, perhaps I uninstalled it wrong, so I went into the data folder and deleted the files for it and then it no longer showed up, that along with your suggestions and the 4GB patch really seemed to make the difference.
  12. There was one thing that wasn't mentioned pertaining to download speeds, what happens if you're not viewing the ads because you've donated? Will you still obtain the additional download speed that you would get viewing both types of ads?
  13. Alright I'll give Midas a shot and see what happens. I have the stutter remover installed, and it seemed to help at first but those cities still like to have very low fps (Funny thing is I play Skyrim with tons of mods and it has a better fps lol), I want to install Streamline but it seems like there is quite a bit of work involved in getting it working (Like edits with using all natural that I have yet to understand.) I'm definitely planning to get around to it though because that smoothing feature may make cities much more tolerable. The ironic thing is I opted out of the fps patch in Better Cities for the Imperial city, and that city gives me no problems at all, every other city turns into an fps deadzone unless I aim at the sky (Especially Skingrad) I am going to read some more about streamline, I grabbed the 3.1 version. If you have any tips for it as well I definitely appreciate them too.
  14. Well I actually just reinstalled Better Cities to see if I could stop some crashes before making this post, and at the same time added Clocks. When I ran BOSS afterwards though the BC replacer file for clocks had a big yellow warning under it that said "Deactive clocksofcyrodiil.esp" So I took that off. As for running Open Cities I'll have to look into that and see what's going on there, most crashes seem to be related in some way to cities do that definitely could be a culprit. The good news is since my OP yesterday I discovered the 4GB patch and applied it, and since then my crashes have been MUCH less frequent. I still am getting them from time to time, but not 5 minutes after loading the game, but still anything I can do to assure a stable game is of course worth it. As for Midas BOSS wasn't reporting any dirty edits in there, should I backup the file and try cleaning it anyway to see what happens? Also thanks for the suggestions. EDIT: Just for some more detail here is what BOSS says about clocks: ClocksOfCyrodiil_BC_OBC_OC_OCLR_Vanilla.esp Active Warning: Deactivate CLocksOfCyrodiil.esp -And also I wanted to add that I did add a bunch of additional music to the game by manually sorting them into the available music folders and not using a mod. All the tracks seem to be working though and I'm not sure if that would be relevant.
  15. I haven't played Oblivion in quite some time, but I was feeling nostalgic so I decided to reinstall it and browse what mods are really good nowadays, I've installed a bunch of mods that I've seen as either popular or suggested, and I'm pretty sure they are compatible with each other just fine. I've also used BOSS of course to get the right order, cleaned all dirty edits (Especially with those official DLC) and have updated my bashed patch every time I've added a new one. I made a new character (A Mage actually) and I haven't had many issues with crashing, but lately I'm getting them quite a bit, they seem to mostly occur during loading screens (For example I'm getting recommendations from the mages guild halls and sometimes I'll get a crash when I go through a door to transit to a new floor, like Mages guild living quarters). I'm also getting a crash sometimes when I fast travel (While it's loading, and it will usually crash right when the loading screen comes up), I've gotten a crash walking into an armor store in Bruma (Again the moment it starts to load), and one crash I've gotten without a load screen involved was when I clicked on the enchant recharge service on an NPC in the mages guild hall. I can always bring the game back up again, load my save and repeat my action where I got the crash and I get through fine, but inevitably I'll always get a crash from a new door transition, fast travel, etc. Here's my load order I pasted from Wyre Bash, perhaps someone can spot an issue I'm not aware of. Active Mod Files: Thanks for any help! EDIT: Wow, nasty typo in the topic title, though I'm not sure how to change it. :/
