Sweet thanks for the help so far guys! I did just a brief glimpse after I installed the CK last night and couldn't find anything in particular but there is a huge sound file tree that I haven't even scratched so it might be there somewhere, and with a couple extra sets of eyes Im sure we will find it. Can't wait to release my first official mod! :)
-
I've been interested to see how this is going to turn out especially since people are still a little butt hurt over the paid mod fiasco.
I kind of fall on both sides of the issue.
On one side, as a PC player, I think that console players can never truly grasp the notion that modding is something that takes a ton of extra effort on the players part. Console player, like tatter said, are extremely convenience oriented. They will expect mods to be plug and play and I'm sure that alot of us will agree that it just does not happen that way in the slightest. You have to consider load order and as more and more mods start rolling out we will have to start cleaning our mods and master files like we did in Skyrim. Modding is, by nature, a difficult beast to overcome and to expect mod authors to make them plug and play is just stretching it if you ask me. Can you imagine the out-lash console players are going to start at mod authors if their mod requires third party resources like F4SE or ENB.dev? I can just hear it now, "Your mod sucks, you need to make it work for everyone because I'm to lazy to build my own PC". If it does work however you can color me impressed because I think the console crowd is going to be extremely limited to the number of mods they have access to and their is going to be a s#*! show because the Console crowd doesn't get everything the PC crowd has.
Now on the other hand, I can see the console players point of view and I think Hero made an excellent point. Just because there will be all these limitations and probable backlash, does that mean we should just say screw you console peasants you should've made a PC if you want to play mods? No, I think branching out the modding community to the console side is a very interesting idea and they can finally stop bitching that they don't have mods (I'm still skeptical that they won't find something about this to complain about). This gives modders a larger crowd and more recognition for all the amazing work they do.
I also think that Bethesda should be commended in all of this as well. Yes, they royally screwed up with the paid mods fiasco and I myself was just as outraged as the next player. But they heard us out and almost immediately revoked the service. You think EA or Ubisoft would have done that? They would've laughed in our faces and said screw you were doing what we want. Bethesda has always worked closely with its community and this is just showing that they want to bring all three communities together.
This whole console wars thing has got to stop. Were all gamers and while PC gamers I think are a little more hardcore, it doesn't mean that we should belittle people that play console even if it's out of convenience.
Anyway thats my little rant, good to see that people are seeing the good that this is doing.
Cheers,
Mello

Hows it going Nexus?
I've been having a blast so far with Fallout 4 and have started modding it to hell! But I've come across something that tickles that immersion bone in my body, let me explain.
So you know when you have a gas mask on that covers your entire face but you sound like your talking like normal as if nothing was obstructing your mouth?
Well I find that a little distracting.
I haven't really done modding before, the last thing I did was a randomized main screen replacer for Skyrim, so I figured I'd ask for advice before I start delving into the Creation Kit blindly.
I figure there must be some type of filter attached to the power armor helmet's coding so if I can identify it, I should just be able to place it into another files coding.
I really only wanted to do it for the Scavenged NCR Armor as it kind of has that metallic feel like it would have a comm system in place.
I would also like to add it to other full face helmets like the assault gas mask if this is even possible to begin with.
I look forward to any help you guys might give me and thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Mello

Not a problem, just a heads up PerMa is still a fairly new mod so there are still going to be frequent problems like this popping up, just make sure to check the mod page regularly.
-
Well that's what modding is all about, trial and error. So I'd suggest playing with just the mods you must have and then slowly add in ones you like but don't necessarily need. It is a very long process, I've been working on my load order for the past year and I just got it to 190 plugins. And I'm still having problems with my game, very minor but I already know what the issue is. In anycase, you can either just kinda deal with the problem like most people do or you can extensively test and get a very stable high load order game. Its really up to you and whether you want to invest that kind of time.
-
If your using PerMa check the mod page's discussion page there is a hotfix out until the newest version comes out. Also you can just copy and paste the mod list under the details tab under LOOT, make sure you put your load order in a spoiler if you post one in a thread so it saves space.
-
You have to manually type spoilers for future refernece its {spoiler} whatever your text is {/spoiler} but with [ ]'s instead of { }'s
But as for your problem I dont see any problem in the load order. although when you are testing mods I usually add 5 mods at most then play for an hour or so then add ad another 5 and play another hour instead of just starting up the game.
-
Thanks Ill give that a shot, its way better then crashing every time I open a menu :P
-
I personally dont know how to do it but if you do some research on google you should be able to find some answers.
-
-
Fist off if you are brand new to modding you want to cut that list of mods WAY down probably 3/4 off your load order. Like you said yourself, you have no idea what you are doing yet and installing a load order of that size is not something someone who has never modded before wants to take on. Modding is a very trial and error process and if you install to many at once you can really screw up your game and have no idea what you did. Anyway enough with the lecture.
To answer some of your questions, Overwriting is a very dangerous thing to do and especially if all your doing is randomly choosing what gets overwritten and what doesn't. For some mods if you don't let it override everything, the mod wont work and may even crash your game. Other mods may need to not be overwritten by anything and you do let another mod overwrite some of its files again it may either not work or could crash you game. This is a point I am going to stress to you, You must always, from now on, read a mods description page in its entirety! Almost 100% of the time mod authors will tell you in their description page if their mod should be overwritten or not. Usually its more safe to just click "yes to all" that way if you do run into a problem later by uninstalling the mod on NMM it will change the overwrites back to their original states.
Next, the errors you got in LOOT were more than likely listed under the vanilla .esm (Update.esm, Dawngaurd.esm, Hearthfire.esm and Dragonborn.esm) This is a method known as cleaning your master files. Now this is a extensive process and I don't really fell like explaining the whole process here (Ill link a video at the bottom of this post) but pretty much it makes your game play smoother when your adding mods. Again its more technical than that explanation but It would take me forever to type the outcomes of cleaning your master files.
I'm not sure what caused your caves to appear so dark, your probably didn't download the enb binary from the official website which caused the enb not to install correctly. Again this ties back to fully reading the description page as all enb authors explicitly tell their users to go to the enb websites and how to download the files that they need to make their enb work. You have to read the description pages, there are no if ands or buts about it.
Anyway that's just scratching the surface of all that modding a game entails. Its a very hands on hobby and if you don't want to learn how to properly do it, your better off just playing the vanilla game as its a very tedious and often time frustrating process.
I could type for days about the basics of modding but thankfully there are YouTubers that do it for people like me that stick to the forums. Below is a link to Gophers' video series of the basics of modding covering everything we talked about here and oh so much more. I recommend watching all the videos in this playlist all they way through and if you do you will be far better off then trying to learn modding yourself, the way I did.
Anyways best of luck in your modding endeavors.
-
I don't believe its possible to do so and I'm not even sure why you would want to do that in the first place. is it clipping through something?
-
I always put SMIM way towards the bottom of my load order that way nothing overrides it, yours seems to be somewhere in the middle. It looks like maybe ETaC may be overriding it somehow.
-
We cant really help you if you don't post your load order as we wont be able to tell what mods might be conflicting.
-
Unfortunately updating disparity did not solve the issue. Also I've been doing some more testing and its now not only coins that are causing crashes, but other items as well. For example the most recent crash I picked up a staff with a wintermyst enchantment on it and that crashed the game.
I'm beginning to suspect that PerMa may be the culprit. My crashes have all been items affected by PerMa, all the vanilla items I've picked up like arrows and armor have all been fine. Yet the strangest thing of all is that its completely at random.
In one scenario I picked up a dwemer coin (one of the coins that causes crashes) and it didnt crash so I thought I may have solved my problem but not even minutes later I picked up the same coin and my game crashed. I'm at a complete loss as of what to do besides maybe just going back to SkyRe, but I would rather not as that would mean re-downloading all the patches I need for SkyRe and having to restart my game for the third time in less then a couple of weeks.
I'm gonna hold of on doing that for a couple of days and play some inquisition, but hopefully someone might have a solution or PerMa might have a new version out that solves the problem.
Anyway thanks in advance for any help and thanks to the people that have already given me some help!
-
Ah I just got back from a trip so I might have to try that as well. That Author is awesome about patching bugs really quickly I had another bug related to that mod and it was fixed before I realized I was even having the problem! >_< Thanks for yall's help!
-
DIsparity is an overhaul mod that does a load of stuff but part of it alters how persuasion and intimidation works based off your weight so if your weight is 100 (which if its a power hungry orc it probably will be :P) then your intimidate option will almost always work.
-
I've been catching up on Fairy Tail recently and I'm at the part of the show were they are at the Grand Magic Tournament. One of my favorite characters so far is Rufus Lore from the Sabertooth guild. I was wondering if one of the many great armor modders out there would attempt to recreate his armor for Skyrim! I always play an archer and I think his armor would make an awesome late level set of armor!
Heres some pics

http://media.animevice.com/uploads/1/18405/593565-fairy_tail___158___large_07.jpg
Its not really lore friendly as its a different era style but I think it'd be cool to have!
-
Ill definitely give that a shot but it seems to be random, for example Ill be playing for about 5 minutes and I loot coins no problem but then at random when I loot coins it'll crash. Thanks for the suggestion though! I'll let you know if it does work.
-
I have a very peculiar problem as of late.
Whenever I loot gold from corpses or any chests of any kind my game ctd's
I use the Skyrim coin replacer redux mod that adds the dwemer and ancient nord coins to the game.
On top of that I use PerMa and I have a patch between the two mods. I'm not sure what is causing
these random crashes as I play the game fine in every other aspect. I run the game between 40
(in only the heaviest areas like cities and Falkreath forest) and 60 fps everywhere else. I don't get any
other crashes of any kind, its only whenever I loot anything and from what I've tested its only coins.

(phew that took forever to type! :P)
Hope that's all the information you need! Thanks for any help on the issue, its a very particular problem but maybe its something really small I'm over looking.

The only way I can see this working is to somehow tie the reset cell command in the console to a series of animations of NPC's cleaning up with brooms or crouching down like they're picking stuff up, something along those lines. This would require alot of scripting however which is a long and tedious process which requires alot of testing. Something that I unfortunately do not have the time for, cool idea however hopefully someone will pick it up.

The only thing that's close to that scenario is the Familiar Faces mod which allows you to import one of your previous characters into your current playthrough as a follower (check out my discussion on the mod here) but again it can't be controlled by a second person. Skyrim was coded as a single player game and that's all it will ever be.

Well a medium between what your looking for would be the Complete Crafting Overhaul mod (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49791/?) which among loads of other things allows you to tweak how much wood you get per chop and how many chops you want to take before stopping. This does not go indefinitely but you can go for a very long period, more then you could ever need for one project.
I don't think its very realistic for an ax to able to produce more than two pieces of wood from a single swing but hey its your game and if you want to defy basic physics then by all means go for it.

There is a mod that adds flying to the Dragon Aspect shout.
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/54306/?
This adds wings and a tail to the dragon aspect. It also Adds some powerful shouts but if you think they're op you can nerf them.
It has compatibilities with
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/53271/?
Which will make the wings in the Dragon Aspect shout move
And also for
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15775/?
Which will allow you to fly if you use the Dragon Aspect shout.
So all in all these three mods completely overhaul how the Dragon Aspect looks and performs. Something that I thought was majorly disappointing in the vanilla DLC. Hope you guys find it interesting. As for the vampire lord levitate I'm sure it can be done but it's far beyond my understanding of the CK, hopefully someone will pick it up!
Make gas masks use power armor speech?

Sweet I'll give that a look!
