  1. The only thing there that alters hardcore values is Project nevada (IIRC). You should use FNVEdit and BOSS programs to sort out your load order, if you haven't already. That'll save you some headaches.
  2. You know, when i started modding it was hard, i even broke my old monitor out of frustration. On and off i've spent about 1 year modding the perfect game. I lost count on how many mods i've stuffed in my LO but i estimate 400-500. Well here's my two cents, may not be as good as the rest but it comes from personal experience: You know you've been playing too much with mods when: (i think it only applies to me, tho) * You start seeing real life objects like meshes and textures. (Sometimes) * You can name all the big mod authors and their respective works. * You feel completely lost in 100% vanilla game. (What do you mean Varmint rifle has 5.56 ammo and i can have up to 2 companions?) * Mini heart attack with every random CTD (Was this random crash or i messed up big time with this mod??) * (While loading game with your freshly baked mod) Please no purple textures...Please no purple textures... * Your FNV Data folder weights 20-30GB+ and you suddenly realize vanilla fallout weights...uhh 5gb or something? * And probably the scariest for me: I was watching a vintage italian movie on tv and it was dubbed to english, for a couple of seconds i watched the actors and thought "lame mod, totally out of lip-sync." And then i realized what i became. * You created this awesome weapon. Time to kill everyone in Goodsprings for testing. Maybe even Resurrect some of them for extra pleasure.
  3. Wait... What are you talking about? I5 and i7 are identical in performance with the current game generation. You can also get Xeon 1230v2 or v3 to get the best "bang for buck" if you do something that benefits from HT. It's basically 3770k/4770k without iGPU and can't be OC'd, but costs 100 less. And 4670k/4770k/1230v3 are the newest CPUs, new cpu generation (haswell) and mobo socket (1150, z87/h87/etc.) were released this year. I see no sense in putting hd7770 on 2600k rig... 2600k can run 2 titans without bottlenecking... Opps i think i meant i3! Still new to intel processors anyway. Well yea...maybe i can run 2 titans but i don't really have the money for that....i could barely afford the 7770 last month..and then i was fired. SO..yeah. I DO plan to upgrade, tho. Thanks for taking the time to correct me.
  4. Fallout 4 will most likely be relased for next-gen gaming (xbox one and the like)...that means your chances of being able to run it are small. Even if you can, it will be trash. I've had a pathetic pc (far worse than yours) for...8 years or something. At the beginning you think "oh well, 20 fps isn't that bad" but after a while it really starts to affect your patience. If you can afford an i7 processor, buy it. Even i5 is too slow for me, i want everything now now fast fast. Also, if you're buying new ram, yes. DDR3 is the way. I sit at 1600Mhz dual channel (that means, you buy a motherboard compatible with dual-channel RAM that can support that ram speed or 1333 is fine too) i personally have 8gb ram (2 x 4gb) and everything runs very smoothly. I built my pc with months of researching cost-efficiency so if it helps at all, here it is: Video: Radeon HD 7770 (it's very similar in performance to the one you want to buy) Processor: Intel i7 2660k (when i bought it, it was the fastest. Now it's i7 3370k or something) Motherboard: GA-Z77M-D3H (from Gygabite. It's actually cheap and supports 8 ram slots, 2 video card slots and all that stuff) RAM: XJAWS ( yea, something like that. 2 x 4 gb running at 1600Mhz) hard disk doesn't matter. Just try to avoid 1tb ones. They don't really work well... for me.
  5. I'm trying to replicate the "nuclear strike" ability from the starcraft ghost unit in a custom companion i'm making. Basically, what i want is a mini nuke falling straight from the sky to the enemy my companion was targeting. I don't really know where to start, can anyone give me a hand or tips on how to do it? thanks.
  6. please post your entire load order. You really shouldn't try to merge mods if you don't know what you're exactly doing...
  7. it would really help if you post your load order, specs, and all that.
  8. remember the thing saying "active file"? well, when you mark a file as "active" it means you're saving in that file.
  9. Probably you knew this already, but in case you didn't, try the command "Pcb" for that. It clears junk data stored over time. There's also a plugin in nv nexus that does the same but every 10 minutes, keeping your game fresh. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/50363//? also, i recommend you using one of the performance boost mods, such as (but not limited to: Cleaner vegas; Clean Deluxe; Performance of the gods; better performance v4) i tested it with my LO (140 + lots of merged stuff) and it improved performance by 10 fps. good luck.
  10. yes. you have something missing. It does come with an .esm. Try downloading with nexus mod manager. Usually files large in size dl incomplete if you dl it manually.
  11. uhhh... i just looked in the steam support section and..you won't like this: from: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8360-wejc-2625#refund As with most software products, we do not offer refunds or exchanges on games, DLC or in-game items purchased on our website or through the Steam Client. Please review Section 3 of the Steam Subscriber Agreement for more information. Steam Subscriber AgreementSteam Subscriber Agreement An exception is made for games purchased during a pre-order period if the request is received prior to the games' release date. Sorry =/ but don't give up just yet, i'm sure there's something that can be done.
  12. you're not the only one...i've chased lings forever. no luck so far. A shame, really. I can't use some mods like shojo races or nerdy veronica. But oh well. guess i'll still looking
  13. Well, to my eyes everything seems alright...uhh..steam support will most likely tell you all that "verify cache. update drivers. bla bla." Let's try one more thing before that. Uninstall your graphics card and enable your on-board graphics card. (gotta go to bios and enable intel graphics after uninstalling graphic card) Now with your on-board graphics card enabler, launch new vegas in minimun settings and tell me if you have visuals. If you do, it means it's a graphics card related problem. If you still have problems, yes. Ask for a refund.
  14. This type of crash happens when a plugin (mod) needs to loader a master (those files with .esm extension) but it wasn't found, so game can't load. Go to the nexus and download FNVEdit, install it and then run the tool with your mods active. It will tell you if you have anything missing. This video by Gopher explains in more detail how to use this tool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVKe51dRm2M
  15. Well, it depends on which version you bought. I got mine long ago, when not even dlc were created...didn't know about "mods" until end 2012. Anyway, you can check your version launching game > settings > display. if it's lastest version it should say 1.4.0.525. if it says anything less, it means you need to update your version, if you check it with steam it should tell you to update...however you said you got it 3-4 days ago, which most likely means you have the ultimate version, right? the one with dlc and pre-order items included i think. But just incase you don't. well, update it. That issue is so strange, man. I mean: if you have no mods installed it means it's "vanilla" game (untouched) so the only possible explanation besides the update is either a graphics card problem (or its driver) and for the second thing, game fine but no visuals, a refresh rate problem.
  16. Yeah, gotta explore all possibilities. Seems odd it's your rig tho, after all it's better than mine and i can run everything very smooth 30fps (which is ok for me) Well, i've looked into TTW Faq and such, and it does not touch fnv files, according to mod authors. They say, however, that 4gb enabler is almost a must , and that you should not use: -MMUE; NVEC; Pip-boy readius (in certain instances); custom races. I'd recommend that you give a look into TTW FAQ for a deeper guide.
  17. i've set it to 4 and no problems. Anyway: Kudos for using a merged patch. I'm blaming monster mod here. Along with awop (even with the patch), pn and some other stuff it causes weird ai behavior (for example, deathclaws attacked me 1 time then ran away, same with other npcs) also i'm not sure your LO is BOSS'ified (arranged by boss tool) but you should run the tool, looks a bit messy. You should also use one of the perfomance mods (like performance of the gods, cleaner vegas or clean-deluxe). I also recommend you to try running without v-synch, and low-medium settings. A bashed patch will help you too. EDIT: oh, you're the guy who made niner, i love you. (literally). Like Miidian13 said, warzones should be handled with care, though i never had a problem with it.
  18. Well definitely it's not your graphics card...i have a 7770 so ;) if i recall correctly, lastest new vegas patch (1.4.025) already included the d3d9 fix. But i'm sure you patched it already. Alright let's try "when everything else fails" book. I want you to uninstall the game (yes, again. Trust me.) and erase all marks it may have left (like registry, icons, etc.) reboot your pc, and install it again. Make sure you have the Microsoft libraries and all that stuff. Then, after a clean install, no mods, no nothing (except dlc and item packs ofc.) Run the LAUNCHER and set everything to MINIMUM settings. Yes, turn everything off. water refraction, bloom, hdr, shaders. Lowest settings of everything when you can't turn them off. After you've done that, run the game and see if you have visuals. IF you still have no visuals i'll think in something else. Keep in touch.
  19. Companions wandering off upon fast travel is a vanilla game bug, as for the other...no, it's not a normal behavior. Have you installed any mod?
  20. you have 146 active plugins (without counting the not-actives)....you're not supposed to run more than 140. Actually, it's a miracle your game works at all without purple textures and so.
  21. This may seem unhelpful but it's important. What's your graphic card? Are your graphics card drivers updated? <-(when someone asks me this i get pissed off, but an updated driver is actually important and solved a lot of things for me in the past.) Have you been able to play before and it stopped working? Are you using the lastest new vegas version?
  22. Fren, thank you for being such a caring person. Nice to meet a fellow, y'know. I do clean my machine with a hairdryer or vacuum cleaner set to low... ehm, how do you call it? Output? Also, I keep my laptop at an elevated position and play only in the evening hours. (That's also the only time when I can, anyway). And how about the real time priority? Not a good idea? You're welcome, pal. The thing with real-time (as i saw and understand it) is that you're basically telling your pc "use all the Ram and cpu you need, i don't care" which results in crashing (isolated cases) also, i've noticed sound clipping with real-time. So i leave it at high priority. You know, maybe you knew this already, but there are a couple of mods out there that will help your performance a lot: try -Performance of the gods - Cleaner Vegas - Clean Deluxe (i'd recommend performance of the gods, tho) what they do is basically remove a lot (yea, a lot) of things like trash paper, dust whirlwinds, etc. but NO in-game junk items. the other 2 go more in-deep, removing junk items and more stuff. I've noticed a fps increase of 5-8 using them. Worth a try if you ask me. Doesn't break immersion.
  23. Well yes, gotta be brave to attempt playing fnv modded in a laptop. Your LO is light tho. Seeing as you have only 3gb ram, you can't benefit from the fnv 4gb enabler (i'm sure you know this) but also i don't know how much ram does fnv take without 4gb enabler. SO be sure to set FNV priority at High in task manager. Also, bit off topic but, please please (if you haven't) clean your laptop fan (or take it to an expert to do it). I'm IT technician and i lost count of how many burnt laptops i checked this year because the owners thought it's be a good idea to use them for gaming and not pay for a cleaning. so the fan collapses and the internal temperature burns everything. 38 degrees is fine tho, for the moment being.
  24. PCB or "Purge Cell Buffers" flushes junk data and while it may increase fps i don't think it solves it. Rydis, yo. Download New vegas stutter remover and place it in nvse plugins folder. Also, the only thing that is affecting loots are AWOP and Project nevada and probably FOOK. Try running game without those and see if it fixes. PD: sorry for the late response, i forget which topics i answered.
