  1. Seems like you're not sure about what you want to use so I'll just say use what you want. You make the advantages/disadvantages seem more than they are though. If you're that worried about not having a shield then use heavy armor. As for not having magic. You need to have both hands free for dual casting anyways, so weapons don't even come into play.

    I'm sure I want to use 2 handed, but I'm not sure if its going to be as effective as 1 handed.

    I'm not worried about having a shield because i can still block with a 2 hander.

    You only need one hand for magic, but it can be more potent with 2 hands of magic.

  2. I'm just wondering if you guys considered if the developers actually compensated the disadvantages of Two-handed weapons against One-handed weapons.

    There seems to be an over-hype towards one handed weapons, due to the dual wielded nature Skyrim offers, and the overall versatility the game gives it.

    A one handed long-sword and a shield gives a defensive warrior.

    Two long swords gives an aggressive warrior.

    One longsword and a fistful of magic gives a battlemage

    Two shortswords or daggers gives the sneak thief the highest stealthed damage.

    And then you have Two-handed weapons. They only have 1 option, which is the aggressive warrior. I have the feeling that it will be reduced to the weapon that bandit/marauder foes carry, just to try to take you down.

    There are several disadvantages to two-handers, from usually slow attacks, high weight needs and usually mediocre blocking. Added to this is the inability to use magic in any hand.

    The only advantage seems to be damage, and only if dual-wielded longswords are comparitively heavier and less damaging. (Although you can block with Two-handed weapons and not dual wielded weapons). They also appear to have a perk that allows them to power attack several foes in its arc, which dual wielded cannot.

    The only reason I have for this topic is that once I saw the Bosmer male with a two-handed greatsword (Wood Elves being my first race for Skyrim), I decided I would integrate it with my first Bosmer character. Because it would rely on only two weapon classes, Two-Handed and Archery, I thought it was a good fit.

    Thanks for any comments below.

  3. well i would want a sentinent armor, like the armor of malevolence mod for oblivion.

    The really evil enchanted armor that tells you; if you kill people you will get more powers.

    And a choise between good and evil releated to that armor, and of course to be unable to unequip it during the quest :D

    I think the sword talks to you already during the tutorial, but I might (probably) be wrong.

  4. All well wishes and a swift resolution to your condition. Your consideration to the forums is a selfless act, and I hope everyone here appreciates the gravity of that act.

    I only would have one thing considered. People have been talking about holding weapons differently (i.e., backwards). I think "stances" could be integrated. Each stance could be switched between each other, leading to adaptive combat against a the strengths of the enemy. The best example is archers. A scout and an assasin will hold their bows differently, shoot and redraw their bows differently. An untrained archer will have no advantage over a seasoned hunter or longbowman. Thus, each stance would reflect a way of combat, benefiting the main flows of damage: draw speed, drop range and damage. Assassins would focus on heavy criticals in close range, while longbowmen would focus on heavy accurate damage at long range.

    Each stance would require a certain level of that skill and a trainer.

    The only problem I see is a constant switching of stances which would make for tedious combat.

    I do not expect you to take the idea to heart, but I believe it will diversify the attack styles and reflect the training of individuals.

    Good fortunes for your endeavours, and I hope you enjoy your day when it comes.

  5. Contrary to what governing attributes imply, all magical 'damage' is based on Intelligence and the matching magical skill. Thus, having high willpower does not increase the effectiveness of destruction, alteration or restoration; willpower (as it increases in blocks of 10) increases the percentage of recovery of magicka per second. Thus, willpower is important, but not at the cost of intelligence, which would give you a greater magicka pool to play with. Personaly, I disdain mages, but the combination you are describing is plausible, although you would be mixing into all three classes slightly.

    You would need:

    Destruction, Restoration, Conjuration, Alchemy, Light armor, Blade/Blunt and possibly Block or Illusion.

    Destruction and Restoration are a given with any pure or intelligent oriented character. Conjuration is a focus of your build also.

    Alchemy I find is probably the best magic skill because it requires little specialisation to use it. Also, It grants the opportunity to use all classes of magic and make frightening amounts of money from 7-10 gold restore fatigue potions from 4 gold of basic food.

    I have not included alteration and mysticism, even though they have some great auxilary spells, but it is good to keep them minor skills so you can train them easily to give yourself good level up modifiers. (I'm so traditionalist :D )

    Light armor will help protect you, keep you mobile, and also benfit your usage of bound armor (which is light armor)

    Blade / Blunt is your choice, but blunt offers more damage per hit rather than the speed of blades.

    Block / Illusion is your choice, but should depend on whether you favour combat or stealth / auxillary spells.

    I would recomend use of Dunmer (Dark Elves) for they support light armored combat / magic types. However, Bretons and High Elves are not out of the question if you choose illusion (and thus more of a mage class)

    Your favored attributes should be strength and intelligence, although if you plan on investing in luck (i.e., if your going to use the account "long-term") then pick luck.

    Birthsign should be Mage, the other two are very sharp double-edged swords.

    Specialisation....you can figure that out.

    Ay. my hands hurt. I hope it helps, and to others that plan on rather unique characters.

  6. Now for my own riddle.

    On the tip of your tongue,

    On the edge of your mind,

    where two becomes one,

    and three becomes nine.

    I can be white, but fickle to all,

    and bear fruit, rotten to the core.

    What am I?

    Ive said the answer, but try to figure it out yourselves.

  7. Thanks for the reply and the comment; its uplifting to know poetry hasn't out-rightly died.

    MW stands for my name, and hey, what do you know, it wont even touch my facebook page.

    Then again, it being here is probably better.

    My name is Martin Widjaja and i'm 16. Please dont go to my facebook page. Its a mess.

  8. When my friend started to post poetry on his facebook page, I decided to do so also. It turns out my poetry isnt that bad. I think.

    Each one is not very long (as facebook restricts it to about 400 characters). Each one rhymes far too much, but I think it has some rhythm to them.

    Lets start.

    ------------------------

    The morning touched sunlight returned,

    I woke to see our world had turned,

    And what we built was scorched and burned.

    Should we all love, grow and create,

    When all we make is death and hate?

    ...Is something pure, so touching and great,

    Destined to fall a hopeless fate?

    How man has made the perfect dream,

    An empty quote of air and steam.

    When will man turn around once more,

    And finally see man take flight and soar?

    ------------------------

    I saw my life just pass me by,

    The flash of lights that touch my eye.

    I see myself rise to the stars,

    and barricades and binding bars,

    Of oceans far within my hand,

    ...and those who hold me down to land.

    A life of strength and change and hope,

    but between them is an iron rope.

    To dream about the strangest ways,

    but live our lives in hopeless days:

    Is there more, or is there less,

    then working for a social test?

    ------------------------

    Humankind has met their match,

    An evil foe, born and hatched.

    With talons dark and crimson red,

    and veins of blue from toe to head.

    A beast with swords and blades for claws,

    ...and shields and walls of fur for paws.

    My friend, if you knew this beast well,

    and held its hand and heard it yell,

    My friend, if you saw its gaze,

    and saw its eyes of ages blaze,

    You would see yourself.

    ------------------------

    I sat down at my wizened table,

    and lifted up my pen so able.

    An old book lay: half undone,

    with the lines of only one.

    I saw each chapter, each page, each spill,

    ...where time itself could stand so still;

    where I myself could see the start,

    the end, the road, the turns; my part.

    And when my pen had touched the end,

    last line, last page, last turn; last bend;

    I felt myself, pen so able,

    Finally rest on wizened table.

    ------------------------

    I sat at my quite quant abode,

    When in all of life, I solved one code;

    How life will come from end to start;

    From broken soul and beating heart.

    How life will give and take much more,

    ...To bear such fruit, but soured core.

    How life will take you to ones edge,

    A bladed foe, a friend or fate;

    My friend, I tell you now -

    That life gives all, but it must take.

    ------------------------

    I sat upon the great traverse,

    And within I saw the great reverse.

    Upon my side, the sun rose high,

    But none of nature held one sigh;

    Upon the other, the sun touched none,

    ...But peace and calm for anyone.

    My bridge I saw was safe strong:

    To bask in sunlights growing warmth,

    Or bask in solaces dim reprieve,

    The scent of grass,

    The scent of power:

    I stood upon the great traverse

    and within me, grew that flower.

    ==========================

    I assure you that if you type these into google you'll understand the MW part.

    Also, I'm not going to post the initial ones because there is no gurantee ayone will read that far, or read in the first place.

    Anyways, have a read. I dont mind. A comment would be a nice exchange though. (:})

  9. I would have thought you would have been better with alchemy: you can make money, still restore your attributes, have every other magic ability at your disposal (to some extent) AND potion spam to heal yourself. Then again, your game. (You don't even need magicka with alchemy...just realised...)
