  1. In response to post #7772106. #7772780, #7784980, #7792049 are all replies on the same post. Quote by vipermkii: "I certainly don't go diving into the comment section of every mod I try before I try it" ^ Now that is some seriously BAD advice if I ever heard one. I now make it a rule to check the comments section EVERYTIME before I think of installing a mod. Having been burned once by not doing that, I have learned my lesson. I once installed a mod which had many comments about it breaking after a few weeks after installation, and then corrupting the save game and being unable to uninstall it. I didn't bother reading the comments section when I installed it and I now regret it, especially when many users had reported the same issue over and over again. If you think I'm making this up, the mod in question was "Mark Books as Read", and the author ended up ignoring pleas for help and then disabled the mod page entirely, leaving users afflicted with the problem completely out of luck. If you want to know how this horror story happened, you can still read the comments here: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/735543-mark-books-as-read/page-7 As for "incapable" people not being able to install mods correctly, that's even a more important reason why leaving these comment intact is crucial. I've seen other commentators jump in to help them out if the issue is a straightforward one, and the instructions left behind also help other "incapable" people who may have similar difficulties.
  2. Of course one must first eliminate the possibility of mods as the cause of CTDs. And you can quickly and easily determine if mods are causing the problems, just deactivate or uninstall them. But in the case of both my friends with the geforce 600 series video card, the freezes and crashes happen with NO mods installed whatsoever. The crashes started happening immediately once the game was installed, just like the crashes they experience with some other games. They're just thankful they can advance in the game in 15 minute increments by making constant saves and falling back on those saves once a crash happens. If they forget to save frequently, they sometimes have to redo a whole part of a quest.
  3. I hate to say this but a large suspicion falls on the Geforce 600 series video cards. 2 of my friends have these cards as well, (one has the 680, the other has the 690). They also get constant crashes in Skyrim and other games like Far Cry 3. The story is very familiar. They can't play for 10-15 minutes without a crash happening. I'm not saying all owners of the 600 series card experiences these problems, but I've seen and heard of way too many of these cases. It seems to be related to the new technology incorporated into the cards such as the adaptive V-sync, and the dynamic GPU boost. These two features were first introduced with the 600 series and they've got tons of bugs and instability that nvidia didn't have time to iron out before release. There are also tons of forum threads with frustrated owners discussing this. Some of them had upgraded from a 500 series card, and when they put their old card back in, the problems disappear. If you have an older card lying around, give it a test.
  4. Since posting the question, I tried a number of different ways to get rid of the floating objects, none worked. I also tried an older save game, thinking possibly the floating objects were in the save file, but the older save files also have the same phantom floating objects. I don't know why these objects don't show up in the Creation Kit. Any ideas, anyone?
  5. Hi, I recently started using the Creation Kit to make a custom home for myself. I've only done the interior so far, just a few rooms, and I have not put in a ceiling or roof yet. I have started getting this weird problem. Whenever I load my home cell in the game (coc MyNewHome) I see everything I created so far, but I also see a wall section and a rug floating about 6 feet up in the air. These objects are stationary. When I open up the Creation Kit in order to delete these objects, they are not visible at all in the CK. The objects are not even listed in the objects list in my cell. They are like these weird phantom objects that show up in game, but not in the CK. With these objects not showing up in the CK, I am at a loss on how to delete them. Any instructions or advice on how to go about removing these floating phantom items? Thanks for the help.
