You could try using the equipitem [FormID] console command, see if that helps.

turning your character to a npc follower
dubbad29 replied to satansbirds's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I'd recommend loading a save from before when you turned your pc into an npc, then using the Alternate Actors mod (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36047/?) to do so. That should solve any issues you're having. -
I really like SkyRe, so much so that I haven't even tried Requiem. Here's the thing, if you play with Requiem, you're going to need a couple mods to fill in some of the features from SkyRe that don't appear in Requiem. An when I say NEED, I mean, can't survive without. I'm mainly talking about the timed blocking feature from Deadly Combat (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/5485/). You're not going to have a fun time at lower levels if a bandit with an iron broadsword can one shot you every time. So yeah, hope that helps.

SKYRE.......playing an assasin...your thoughts please
dubbad29 replied to Shadanwolf's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Bear in mind that sneak attacks against enemies who are in combat (this includes searching for you) are weak. I never even considered the silent warmonger perk until I knew that but let me tell you, it helps. I also recommend the Dynamic Torches mod. Since lighting is much more important in SkyRe sneaking, it's very helpful to be able to take down torches and create your own darkness. Finally, the perk that slows time for 2 seconds after a sneak attack is a HUGE boon. If you don't one shot your enemy, this perks allows you to get a second, sometimes even third hit in before they even turn around. EDIT: Dynamic torches link: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/8070/? -
They're right, it doesn't matter which side you join. HOWEVER, the CW quest is infinitely better with Apollodown's Civil War Overhaul (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37216/?). This mod unlocks a lot of content that was originally produced by Bethesda, but not released at launch or in any subsequent patches. Apollodown also does a good job filling in the cracks with his own modding expertise.

Sorry, that enchanted spear will disappear in a matter of days. Here's how the system works. Each merchant in Skyrim (anyone with the "What have you got for sale?" dialogue option) has a specific designation, or tag; general merchant, apothecary (potions), blacksmith, fletcher (bows and arrows), court mage, other wizard (College masters, etc.), and a couple others. This designation determines the merchant's inventory, or the items stored in their merchant chest, which is an actual chest only accessible with collisions turned off. The price is affected by Speech skill and barter enchantments. Mods like Trade and Barter (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34612/?) account for other factors, such as relationship rank (are you friends with the vendor? Married?), nakedness, having a weapon drawn, race, skill (a skilled archer gets better prices at a fletcher, for example), and others. In vanilla Skyrim, that merchant chest, including the gold inside, resets, meaning that you'll have a new selection of items to buy, and the merchant will have a refreshed supply of gold to buy your items. As for the mod you suggested, that sounds really cool, and much more realistic. There's this one really cool mod that sort of tries to achieve that called Economics of Skyrim (it's been discontinued though). In addition to making trading much more difficult and keeping the player in poverty much longer than in the vanilla game, it would also take the vendor's location into account when determining the vendor's inventory. For example, you could find Dwemer goods in Markarth, but not in Solitude. That sort of thing. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Did you add bEnableFileSelection=1 to SkyrimPrefs.ini (not skyrim.ini) under the "Launcher" section?

Thane of Riften quests have disappeared
dubbad29 replied to Voodoochild7742's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
What are your dialogue options when you talk to the Jarl? Where are you in the Civil War quest and main quest? -
She might actually be there. The Pine Forest is in Falkreath (it basically comprises the hold). The Rift is different. Next time I'm in the neighborhood, I'll check it out. Since we're talking about ghosts and headlessness, what's the deal with the headless horseman that rides around at night every once and a while?
-
I don't know about a console command, but murdering the Jarl would be a pretty clear sign of resignation. Why exactly do you want to stop being thane of Hjaalmarch?
-
Going by the traditional skills of the knight archetype, you'll want to invest mainly in heavy armor, one-handed, and block (and smithing). For endgame equipment, there is no alternative to Harkon's sword as a vampiric knight. It has a strong absorb health/magicka only accessible by vampires. Shield, I like Spellbreaker. It's pretty easy to get, and you can smith it up pretty well. For your armor, there's of course the Daedric set, but if you want to have something unique, Azhidal's armor from the Dragonborn DLC will get you some very strong enchantments. I'd also recommend taking a few perks in either the alchemy tree or the restoration tree. If it were me, I'd do restoration, because 1), you can cast stronger wards for less magicka, which means that you have more flexibility with your shield, and 2), the Necromage perk makes spells against undead much more powerful. This will make your healing spells VERY effective on yourself. If you don't have the DLCs, then for your sword, you can either go Dragonbane, which does significant shock damage against non-dragon enemies, or Daedric. CIVIL WAR SPOILER ALERT KINDA.

skyrim resolution lowered after re install
dubbad29 replied to AzdanDrake's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Which mods did you install? -
Here are a couple mods worth mentioning: Hair: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/7403/? Lovely Hairstyles. It doesn't add as many as Apachii, but they all look nice, and they're all lore-friendly. Follower: HOW HAS NO ONE BROUGHT UP INIGO YET? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/40960/? If you thought Serana was a fleshed out character with an actual personality, then Inigo will blow your mind. Fully voice acted, unique dialogue, backstory, features, equipment, EVERYTHING. I can't say enough good things about Inigo. HE CAN READ TO YOU. How many other followers read books to you? Eh?

Is there a mod that tags unarmed fists as daggers, or does something else to make them silent? When you're a sneaky monk, it makes sense that punching should be quiet, but in the vanilla game, fists are treated like one handed weapons, meaning that if you swing, enemies will hear you and find you (unlike with a dagger, which they cannot hear you swing).

Noob here. Installed manager, installed mods, nothing in the game.
dubbad29 replied to alpha307's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Go to your Skyrim game folder (that ProgramFilesx86/skyrim you mentioned); it should contain SkyrimLancher. From there go into your Data folder. Look for the file, SaltMerchant.esp or something like that. Let me know if it isn't there.- 7 replies

Speaking of Nazeem, does anyone know about Winterstead Manor? Does it have to do with Hearthfire? Is there a mod that adds it as a player home? Is it mentioned in any lore? (Nazeem carries a Key to Winterstead Manor)

Disable the Crown of Barenziah reward effect?
dubbad29 replied to Deleted31005User's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I think the crown is kind of a broken concept. It takes a while to get it, so by the time you do, you're a pretty high level and probably all set up gold-wise -
I think the schools are actually pretty distinct. First to address the differences between Alteration and Destruction. Yes, they can both be used to inflict damage, but Destruction magic does so directly. It converts magicka into a flow of elemental power that does direct damage to victims. No matter how you spin it, Destruction has always (or at least since the days of Cyrodill's Mage's Guild) been the traditional school for battlemages for this reason. Alteration, however, is different. In Reality and Other Falsehoods, we read about the distinction between Illusion magic and Alteration magic, and discover the true nature of Alteration. This excerpt is particularly illuminating: This also covers the uniqueness of Illusion. Illusions apply only to a target. For example a fear spell on causes targets to run away, because only they have been "convinced" to be afraid. Paralysis, on the other hand, causes a target to freeze, not because they wanted to or were "convinced" to do so, but because the caster has altered reality; it is now a fact that the target is paralyzed, if that makes sense. Conjuration is easy to distinguish because it only involves the interaction of casters with Oblivion. Restoration is a little tricky. Some people think of it like reverse Destruction, but I don't think that's true. Whereas Destruction relies on the power of the elements, Restoration is solely focused on the, well, restoration (and sometimes preservation) of life. This is seen clearly in all healing spells. Wards are strange, and personally, I think they'd be more appropriate in the Alteration school, but oh well. Turn undead might be considered an illusion by some, but it all ties back the the restoring of life. I.e., the restoration of life and the destruction of undeath fall on the same spectrum. Personally, I miss the Mysticism school, but I think its effects were appropriately sorted into the other schools. Finally, is there a mod for Skyrim that brings some of the old functionality of Telekinesis back? That would be great.

Favorite Nordic tomb (layout wise)
dubbad29 replied to RaktoastTheSandwichTopper's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Volskygge (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Volskygge). There are a couple reasons why I like this ruin. First, there are some bandits both at and in it. That helps break the monotony of Draugur after Draugur afer Draugur. More than that, though, Volskygge really gives the impression that civilization once existed there. There are tons of living spaces, scattered with plates, pottery, and all sorts of items that are evidence that an ancient Nordic people once lived there. On top of that, it has one of my favorite (and one of the most unique) puzzles in Skyrim. It really makes you use your brain, unlike Claw Doors and those column things. -
Civil War Overhaul really shouldn't be installed on anything except a new save. As far as stability is concerned with other mods, here's something you could try: You'll need TESV ESS editor (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/27119/?) and HxD (http://mh-nexus.de/en/downloads.php?product=HxD). Here are the steps: 1) Open TESV ESS editor, click "Open," and select your save (probably Documents/My Games/ Skyrim/Saves) 2) On the left, open up the "Global Data table 3" dropdown by clicking the plus sign next to it 3) Open 2 Papyrus and click Data 4) Click Export (I usually just put in on my desktop) 5) Open HxD 6) Hit open 7) Find what you just exported (that's why it's easiest to just put it on the desktop) 8) Hit CTRL+A 9) Under the Edit tab, hit fill selection, leave it at 00, and click okay 10) Save As; I usually overwrite the old one; it's not needed anymore 11) In TESVESSE, import that file 12) Save (normal, not compressed) 13) See if that works

Secret vampire lair under a house with sick people

Console fixes: 1) Open your console with the tilde key ("~"), click on Uthgerd, and type "resetai" no quotation marks. Hit enter. See if that works. 2) Select Uthgerd in the console then type "disable". Hit enter. Now type "enable". Hit enter. See if that works. 3) Select Uthgerd then enter "resurrect." See if that works

I think it's interesting that your character, Elder, holds so steadily to traditional orc values like honor and what not, but also breaks Orc tradition by practicing. Other than tribal wise women, pretty much every orc is a warrior (even the wise women are more alchemists than mages). Going on the belief that fights should be fought face to face and measure one belligerent's strength against that of another, magic is pretty dishonorable; you can destroy your enemy with the flick of your wrist, without having to actually fight him. Also, speaking of orc traditions, every orc we ever met in Skyrim either lives in a stronghold or fights with the Empire. That's the way things go. If an orc decides he/ she wants to shame his tribe by leaving the stronghold (thereby departing from tradition and going against the will of Malacath), they almost always join the legion for the simple fact that that's where they find straight up fighting. I think it's interesting that Elder dislikes the politics of the Empire, but seems willing to ignore the politics of the Stormcloaks (i.e. the debate about Ulfric's tue motives). No matter which side Elder joins, the fighting will be the same. That being said, as much of a staunch Imperial as I am, I respect your decision. I think everyone agrees that the order of the day for the fourth era is to destroy the Thalmor. In my opinion, a unified Empire is a better entity to do so than a band of racially homogeneous rebels. Honestly, now that I think about it, Ulfric and his boys would get smashed pretty hordcore by the Thalmor. Anyway, good on you for putting so much thought into your character. I think it really enhances gameplay.

I haven't played with vanilla races in a while; I use the SkyRe races module. It balances the races really well, so how "good" a particular race is really depends on the build you're going for. With SkyRe, Redguards have a REALLY good active ability; slow time for 15 seconds with a two minute cool-down. Combine this with the Light Weaponry (One-Handed) perk Dervish's Dance (chance to stagger or knock down opponent when wielding a scimitar and moving), and you have a very powerful, AND very traditional, lore-friendly Redguard swordsman. As you can see from my picture, I am a huge fan of the Bosmer race. In vanilla Skyrim, the Archery bonus is a pretty big deal for anyone who plans on using a bow in that playthrough. The first race I ever played was Bosmer, so for the longest time, I never understood what the fuss about frostbite spiders was; there poison had very little effect. SkyRe only enhances this already versatile race. In line with Elder Scrolls lore, one Bosmer passive adds a 25% buff to archery against animals, supporting the widely known fact that Bosmer are the hands down best Archers/ Hunters on Tamriel. In general, if you play an archer, Bosmer is your only choice. In general though, I have to agree with KratosAurion; Bretons are my favorite, both because of the magic resistance and their versatility. Standing stones, I pick a Guardian Stone until I hit a certain level; which one I pick depends on the build. Then I switch to Lord Stone, because it's awesome.

But seriously, who do you think really won the civil war?
dubbad29 replied to Relativelybest's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I think the Khajit are allied to Aldmeris in the Elder Scrolls Online, but that was 200 years before the events of Skyrim. I'd also contend that Hammerfell wouldn't fall. They staved off the Thalmor in the first Great War, and in the second Great War (under the pretenses we're discussing where the Empire attacks suddenly with shock and awe), they could certainly do so again. You know, this could make an excellent TESVI.
