  1. Hello. Need a little help here. You see, I've been messing around with this mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/18471/ (for personal use only obviously) I'm trying to make the summonable NPC into a regular follower. So far, I've managed to work most of the problems out, but there's one thing I can't seem to find an answer to. You see, whenever I spawn the NPC in the game to test it out, it appears ghostly, that is, transparent and with a ghost shader. I can't for the life of me figure out where that is coming from. Could anyone please help a noob out here? Please?
  2. Okay... here's another mod idea for people to ignore. A mod... that turns off your radio automatically when you enter combat. It's lonely out in the wasteland, and a bit of music can liven the place up nicely. However, it's kinda distracting to have Mr. New Vegas talking about how awesome he is while you're desperately trying to avoid being turned into lunch by a Deathclaw. So, you have to go into the Pip-boy menu to shut the damn thing off, and the Deathclaw will just have to amuse itself for a couple of seconds. But that's immersion breaking, isn't it? Realistically, you'd just hit a button on the Pip-boy or something that mutes the radio, so you can concentrate. And once you're done, you can turn the radio back on. I guess that's about as well as I can explain the idea behind the mod. I doubt it'd be hard to make something like this, if you knew what you were doing. What do you think? Any thoughts or suggestions? Or - god help me - anyone actually interested in making it?
  3. Doesn't that just mean "things may not be as they seem from the outset", though?
  4. If that's what you want, you can always look up the "toggle Detection" console command.
  5. Okay... I can see the logic behind that... I think... Just one thing. I don't remember it ever being confirmed that that actually is the Thalmor's end goal. As far as I know, it's just a rumor that they're trying to unmake reality. They could just be power-crazed nutters for all we know. Is there any actual proof that that's what the Thalmor want?
  6. Well, as already pointed out before, how can we know if that's the truth? Because the Elves say so? They'll say anything to excuse feeling superior to other races. As far as we know, existence may have well been nothing but a big soup of possibilities before Mundas was created. And besides, as far as I know, wasn't the main point of Elven religion was that only the Mer races came from there? Men and the Beast Races were born on Mundas, and would disappear when it was destroyed. So, again, selfish at least, and likely genocidal as well. Though I admit that I may be wrong on that part.
  7. Well, maybe it would work like that for them. But even if that meant unending life for everyone (one of my personal nightmares, actually), it would also mean that nobody would really be "living". Without the world around anymore, there'd just be a whole lot of emptiness. Maybe the Thalmor think of that as a better existence, but there must be plenty of people who'd consider that a nightmare. Which makes the Thalmor incredibly selfish, if nothing else.
  8. You can if you see death as "removing life", which is basically what death is. If the Thalmor unmake creation, they're robbing everyone in existence of a future; more than that, they're robbing them of a past. In some way, that's even worse than simply killing them. Sure, there'd be nobody left to know it but them, nobody left to blame them, but there's more to responsibility than just being able to be blamed for something.
  9. I just had a thought. The Tyranny of the Sun makes the world darker, right? Would that have an effect on Immersive NPCs in the Dark? It could be used as an absolute last ditch method to escape your pursuers in brought daylight. Of course, if there was some kind of enemy that drew power from sunlight, that'd be another non-evil reason for using the bow. (though both of these would be pretty extreme)
  10. So, in other words, all the people we see in game are not all the people there are?
  11. As we all know, in Skyrim, it's possible to end up a Millionaire without anything to spend the money on. But that got me thinking. How much would a million Septims actually be?! I ran some numbers (Gasp! Math!), and here's a little example I found out: The most expensive things you can buy normally in the game (so outside of special quest-related situations) are houses. If you bought every house in the game for their highest price and upgraded them fully, it'd cost: 5000+1600 + 12000+9000 + 8000+4300 + 25000+11000 + 8000+4100 = 103000 Septims. Which is 10.3% of a million. In other words, with a million Septims, you'd be able to buy every house in the game almost ten times. So, I ask of you: What WOULD be worth a million Septims?
  12. My interpretation of the Elder Scrolls is that, together, they contain the description of all that is and could be. Thus, they are a reflection of everything that exists in the world, and everything that could exist. Vylthur created that prophecy to lure a Daughter of Coldharbor to Auriel's temple (one seeking a way to fulfill the prophecy, he had no way of knowing that the one who did show up would be the only one who didn't want to see the prophecy fulfilled). Once he created that prophecy, it became part of what was written in the Elder Scrolls, as the prophecy's fulfillment became a possible outcome for them to record. But anyway. Can we get back to my original question for a moment? What use are bloodcursed arrows to a non-vampire character?
  13. This may seem like an odd question, but I realized that at the end of Dawnguard, even if you've sided with the Dawnguard and are not a vampire, you can still make Serana give you Bloodcursed arrows. But is there a point to having them at all? Do they have some kind of enchantment effect on them for use in combat? And what about the arrows main use, the blotting out of the sun? Does doing that have any kind of use if you're not allied with vampires?
  14. ...Thought I'd made more posts on this forum...
  15. Let me add one to that list: A mod that does the "Lets you use Full Armor Perks without wearing a helmet" thing that exists for SkyRe, but for the vanilla Perk system. EDIT: Never mind, I found that one. Still looking for the other two though.
  16. As far as I recall that mod, it's not a spell, it's a Power, so you have to hit "Z" or whatever key you use for powers/shouts. Hope that helps. It's probably overkill for what you want, but AFT (Amazing Follower Tweaks) has an option to make followers only wear helmets in combat. Yeah, overkill would be the right word. Also, I'm already using UFO, and I'm pleased with it so I'd prefer to just have something that does that job separately.
  17. Alright, I'll just come out with it; I'm looking for two mods: one that allows me to use my "Thane Pardon" more than once, but like once every so many days or something, and a mod that makes my followers only equip helmets when they actually need them. Do such mods exist? If so, where can I find them? And if not: WHY NOT?! They seem like pretty basic things to be modded in to me, so there should already be mods dealing with this, but I can't find any!
  18. Most games that allow you to create a custom character have some kind of "Random" option. You put your trust in the game, and it randomly assigns a bunch of values to your character's appearance. Not Skyrim, though. In Skyrim, we have a "presets" slider, which does the job just as well; that is, until you run out of presets, or want a completely random character. Why is this? And, more importantly, why hasn't anyone fixed this yet? Is there something inherent to Skyrim that makes it impossible to create a random appearance? Or is the problem just that nobody has felt the need to do this yet?
  19. I'm trying to get into the thieves guild. While doing this questline, I've ran into the infamous "Loud and Clear" bug, which keeps the aforementioned quest from starting, causing all thieves in the guild to attack me on sight. I've done some digging, and I've figured out that this is cause by one (or more) of the mods I'm running, and that, to fix it, I have to de-activate the mod(s), initiate the quest, then reactivate. However, there's a catch. The game I'm doing this in is a very heavily modded (or heavily wounded, depending on your point of view) version of Skyrim, and there are several mods that I can't just "deactivate/reactivate" without suffering serious losses, if I am even still capable to properly run the game without them. So, to avoid having to go through the hell of deactivating every one to find out which one is causing the problems, I thought I'd find out some more about the beast I'm trying to slay. A lot of you must have run into this problem before, and you must have found out what mod was causing it. I'd like to know what those mods were, to see if we can't compare them and pin down what kind of mods can cause this glitch to happen.
  20. Still haven't given up on this. Please. The lag is killing me.
  21. There should be a mod out there that allows you to rotate the camera in third-person-play (which is how I generally play Skyrim) without the game immediately lagging up to the point of Power Point Presentation; I've seen it described as keeping the game from fully loading textures while you're still rotating the camera, until it's sure which way you want to look, thus saving up a lot of memory space and keeping the game going. Can anyone point me towards this marvellous mod? Because I'm getting a bit bored with seeing the same slideshow of my character every time I try to look around.
  22. Okay, let's say I'm roleplaying Skyrim as a particularly evil character, who doesn't have much regard for the mechanics of the game. Now let's say that this character - in my roleplay - has become Arch-mage through... illigitimate means after joining the college. I know there's some sort of console command I can use to force the game to accept my character as the Arch-Mage - with the privilage of using his chambers and all the stuff in it - without completing the college questline. I just can't find it anywhere. Can anyone help me? (If this is in the wrong forum, then feel free to move it.) By the way, in this "hypothetical" playthrough I've already killed several quest-essential characters, so completing the questline has become impossible. Just so you know.
  23. Never! He's always sporting his snappy suit and bowtie/converse/glasses/whatever accessory that particular Regeneration prefers. Which just goes to show how important this is! Come on, community! You have shown to be capable of way more impressive feats, so surely a 3-piece-suit isn't beyond your ability! What's stopping you?! (Remember: fighting Dragons in a business suit! It's been done in God of War, why not in Skyrim?)
  24. Here's the thread I mentioned in the OP. It has some pictures of what this person was trying to achieve, and it's a good example of what I mean. And while I understand the desire to stay lore friendly (I'm pretty big on it myself), there is plenty of proof out there to show that lots of modders don't have any trouble with making mods that are way more out-of-context than this would be.
