Skyrim Special Edition Nexus Mod Manager support
DirtyWeaselMedia replied to SirSalami's topic in Site Updates
Thanks for all the hard work in getting this out. So far, it mostly works without a hitch. The only thing I've noticed is that you are unable to configure the Tools to recognize SSEedit. It's probably looking for TES5edit.exe... I must be strange in that I wanted Wrye Bash and xedit on day one. -
In response to post #43574445. Glad to see the new page up and running. You also answered my question regarding an update for NMM to handle the SE. Nice work guys, just in time.

So many things to fix. Please help! 3DNPC & MO
DirtyWeaselMedia replied to Fromkas's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Probably not the answer you want to hear, but it is what it is... You need to start afresh. With that many un-managed mods shown in MO, you are bound to have errors. I don't know how you installed them previously, but you need to uninstall them. (Or, do a fresh install of the game.) Then you can start over with MO. I highly recommend referring to the STEP Guide for MO to understand how it works: http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Mod_Organizer#tab=Welcome If you prefer videos, I'll suggest Gamerpoets series of videos on MO setup and use: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlN8weLk86XjVOwlGpeKFnHLlBLlwo73A -
Looking forward to see this project.

Need merged patch help
DirtyWeaselMedia replied to Toastedsnow's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
You can, but stability will be compromised. I do it for testing purposes, but when I'm convinced I want the mod on a permanent basis I do a merge/bash patch. I doesn't take that much effort, and it helps in so many ways. -
Safe to clean dlc esms?
DirtyWeaselMedia replied to refmon's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Cleaning your DLC's is something that is recommended by most complete guides, including mine. There are a number of helpful tutorials out there, both on Youtube and elsewhere. Cleaning individual mods should be done with caution, as some authors require that some dirty edits remain so the mod will work correctly. LOOT can be an excellent tool to help you determine which need cleaning, but be sure to read each mod page fully before cleaning. For instance, take Vurt's Wasteland Flora Overhaul, you can clean the ITMs but not the UDRs. -
Just Don't Understand....
DirtyWeaselMedia replied to JnthnB's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Don't know if you are using NMM or Mod Organizer, but I thought you could use some help. I have a series on Youtube on MO for FNV. It might give you some insight even if you don't use MO. I did three videos that cover UI mods in depth... #5 - DarnUI, UIO, and MCM: https://youtu.be/0i9psmCdjQY #6 - Project Nevada, Weapon Mod Menu, OneHUD: https://youtu.be/bdAxouyl2fE #7 - FlashlightNVSE, CASM: https://youtu.be/RR4QACZmpek My latest video, #17, covers WMX and Weapon Stat Viewer: https://youtu.be/2igiQjMEkP8 I hope these help, --Cal -
A Bash Patch is very helpful. Even better would be using a Merge Patch using TES5edit, and deleting the Leveled lists during creation. Then install a Bash Patch over it just for the leveled lists.

FNV4GB Issue - No Clue!
DirtyWeaselMedia replied to livejoker's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Can't be sure, but it sounds like a permissions issue. Make sure that all of your FNV are not "read only" and that includes the .ini files in your Documents>my Games>FalloutNV folder. Also, Game Companion is now considered a poor choice for fake fullscreen mode. Try OneTweak by Virusek, instead. It's available on the FNV Nexus. -
Are you running FO3edit through MO? The only time I've seen FO3edit run the way you are describing is if it run outside of MO directly from the .exe in file folder.

If you are looking for a guide and are willing to use Mod Organizer, Kelmych over at STEP has an excellent one for FO3: http://wiki.step-project.com/User:Kelmych/Fallout3 It covers most of the popular mods for FO3, with detailed instructions on how to install them. But, bben46 is right, just having one huge package of mods is a bad idea. Modding takes time to learn, tons of research, and lots of trial and error to get everything to play well together.

With Chesko ducking for cover in his fallout shelter, the interview I had planned with him as bitten the dust... I would like to ask any Mod Creator that wants to have his/her voice heard on the topic of paying for mods contact me about doing a recorded interview to be shown on my Youtube channel. Pro, Con, or Neutral: I want your opinion known so that the attention is paid to this story as it deserves. You can contact me here on the Nexus via my username: CaltexRN or by messaging me through my Youtube Channel https://www.youtube.com/c/dirtyweaselmedia

Chesko, the maker of mods such as "Frostfall", "Arissa - The Wandering Rogue", and the upcoming "Campfire", has agreed to do an interview. I wanted to include questions from the modding community, and this is a great place to get them. So, if you have some burning question you wanted to ask, here you go! I can't promise that all submitted questions will be asked, but if yours is selected I will mention you as the questioner. It should go without saying, but, keep things polite. Thanks, -Cal

I would just let the SKSE installer do it for you. I know Gopher has his reasons for doing it his way, but for the other 99% of us it is probably not necessary. Here is my video on it. Not trying to push my channel, there are many other vids out there with the same content.

So far so good, I added a couple of tutorial vids and they work just fine. A question about the Categories: Some I understand just fine (i.e. "Funny", "Tutorial", etc.) What is the general intent with others, such as "General" vs. "Individual Showcase". I have some home mod reviews I want to add, but am unsure of the right Category in which to put them. Good addition, allows us to separate the "wheat from the chaff", so to speak, that we find browsing Youtube. -Cal, Dirty Weasel Media
