How To Rollback Fallout 4 Version (Steam)
NikitaDarkstar replied to DiabloInvictus's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Thanks for the guide. Fallout just updated for me cause I was an idiot and decided to peek in the CC and grab a free pipboy skin. Got the latest update with it and I'm not in the mood to wait for the script extender to update, no matter how fast those guys usually are, so yhea very handy and helpful little guide. Way easier to get to the steam console via the run command though. -
HORRIBLE FPS Drops ! Tried everything :( Help please
NikitaDarkstar replied to gabizinha's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Do you have any mods like Scrap Everything or have you set bUseCombinedObjects=0 in your fallout4.ini? If so that is not helping. Unfortunately you do need it for some scrapping mods but it does affect your fps, and it will absolutely help murder it in downtown Boston. Unfortunately the others are right that the engine is kind of a disaster and 45fps in downtown boston is pretty good, but you should be able to squeeze out a bit more than than in other areas. -
Congrats, soon enough you'll spend more time in the creation kit going "WHY BETHESDA WHY?!?!?!????????????!!!!!!!!" thank actually playing the game. *goes back to trying to rid her settlements of all those annoying as hell directional decals*

The i3 series of cpu's really isn't good for gaming, it was never really meant for that. If at all possible try to at least get up to the i5 series. You may also want to consider a bit more RAM as 8 is on the low side these days.

Some questions about the Fallout Lore that I dont get
NikitaDarkstar replied to rickard767's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I really prefer it with some life to it too. I think the biggest mistake was to set Fallout 4 during the fall. I know they were going for that dreary, depressing vibe but a green, leafy wasteland is much more fun to explore (or one in full fall colors for that matter) and the ruins of the city gets a much starker contrast when compared to the overgrown wilds that surrounds it. Either way those are just my thoughts on the matter, I know everyone have different tastes but to me the vanilla commonwealth is just visually unappealing. (At least New Vegas had an excuse... that landscape isn't very green even when hasn't been nuked to hell....) -
Fallout 4 Script Extender Problem. NEED HELP
NikitaDarkstar replied to MrManovar6's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
0.6.4 is the latest F4SE version. You can download it from the website you already linked to as that is Script Extenders official link. Just Click the link "7z archive" to download it, read the readme that's packed into it and follow the installation instructions in there (as in only copy the files you actually need. The archive does come with a few more things packed in with it but unless you're a mod author yourself you don't actually need those files).- 3 replies

Load Order guide/Tutorial?
NikitaDarkstar replied to NikitaDarkstar's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Thanks willyb9, that post is pretty much exactly what I needed! And I do generally try to keep on top of mod descriptions and try to avoid obvious conflicts (I learned my lesson the hard way in Skyrim. Corrupted my save file with my own stupidity) but I also know that load order can cause just as many headaches as mod conflicts. Again, many thinks dude! :) -
I've been out of the loop for a good year and a half (what can I say? The holidays makes me crave a post-nuclear wasteland something fierce) and as usual I've ended up installing way, way too many mods. The thing is I've forgotten how to set up my load order right, and I KNOW there used to be a post/guide floating about on how to organize things manually (basically just a breakdown of what type of mod goes where) but I can't seem to find it again and I was wondering if anyone knew what I was talking about and maybe had a link? PS: No I don't want to use LOOT exclusively. It's a decent tool but I still need to know what goes where so I can double check it in case it messes up.

Looking for Improved AI and friendly fire mods
NikitaDarkstar replied to Rilauven's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Give Amazing Follower Tweaks a look https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6656/? it can help with the companions at least (it does a whole bunch of things but it's quite flexible if you don't want all of what it offers) -
So are TES games about to change fundamentally?
NikitaDarkstar replied to davidwalshireland's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Could be. If CC is well received I wouldn't be surprised if future titles will also be supported by it. Personally I just hope they take some time to update and stabilize the Havok engine (assuming they continue to use it, but that seems likely) before their next big project release no matter what it is, because as hilarious as some of the bugs are having the same bugs over and over again is losing it's charm. So you know, I'd rather see them actually polishing up the features they do have before introducing more things to the mix. But I'm sure we'll find out what's going on at some point (I am sad that they delayed TES6 though). -
Often this glitch can be fixed by fast travelling (assuming the game will let you). Glad you got it sorted though cause being stuck in combat is pretty frustrating.

Strange Post It notes on Ivy?
NikitaDarkstar replied to NikitaDarkstar's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Yep I was dumb. Seems like I missed a couple of files when cleaning the folders out. Got rid of them and no more post its. Feel free to stamp "Doofus" on my forehead cause this is such a painful rookie mistake it hurts. -
This started after I installed, then uninstalled JK's Whiterun and Riverwood overhauls. I've since then extracted all Ivy related textures and meshes and dropped into the appropriate folders to try to fix this. I've tried deleting all related textures and meshes to fix this. I've verified the file integrity through steam and I've started an entirely fresh game to try to fix this. Still nothing. So does anyone have any idea what's going on and how to fix it, cause I'm stumped. It's not game breaking but it's a bit odd looking. It also only affects Ivy hanging of off fences.

Are Creation Club products mods?
NikitaDarkstar replied to davidwalshireland's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Honestly I don't think CC will affect mods (or free, user-made content) in any significant way. People who want to make things for free and share it with others will continue to do so. My concern is more about how the CC mirrors 'free' mobile games (mostly mobile games) in that you buy credits to buy items to make your gaming experience easier. Which is okay in itself I suppose (even if the credits thing is, as has been pointed out a scummy tactic), but most of those games will hit a point where it's pretty much impossible to progress without buying some of these items. Or the game just gets exceedingly repetitive and grindy without buying those items (or game modes, or alternative quests). Which makes me concerned about the development choices Bethesda might make in the future, because I'd hate to see them turn into the next EA Games that sells you a barebones (at best) game and then sells you the rest in half a dozen or so DLC's that by all rights and reason should have been in the original game. Or they just don't offer you any weapons and armors that are actually effective in late game, etc. And lets not kid ourselves here, this IS the company that pretty much invented the DLC we're talking about. Sure things have changed since the infamous horse armor days, but if any company is going to implement new and novel ways to get money from players with as little effort as possible it will be these guys. So no, I'm not worried about Fallout 4 or Skyrim SE, but I am concerned about what the next installments in either series may look like and how much they may cater towards CC content. I'd also be slightly concerned about the Creation Kits future... but the less tools a developer tends to give a modding community the more hell-bent said community seems to be on modding their game anyway, so I'm sure that even without an official CK release the modding community will find a way. -
Well it seems like SSE Fixes and the dllplugin loader required to use it was the culprit for me. Got rid of those and the map now works fine. It means more random fps drops but I'll take it.
-
Yhea that file simply does not exist as a loose file in my folder, my only loose .swf files are startmenu.swf, messagebox, swf, and dialoguemenu.swf so no quick and easy fix for me it seems like. I have sent in a bug report to the USEEP guys though, but I doubt they're unaware of the issue.
-
Same problem, also no maps.swf file in my install folder to delete. Anyone else got any other ideas? PS: The map worked fine while inside of Whiterun, both world and local, same when in Windhelm, now when I'm out in the world? nope, crash.
-
I'm also inclined to say RLO may be the issue. It's Exterior plugin is known to not always get along with things that modify weather or exterior lights, and it's Interior plugin doesn't always get along with things that touch upon interior lights. Also you got what looks to be weather and light mods sorted both above and below your RLO .esp's try putting all of them either above OR below RLO and see if it makes a difference (I personally don't play with an extensive weather mods right now, but a messy load order can cause a lot of weird problems)

Strange Graphic Dots + Texture error.
NikitaDarkstar replied to EliteTyrael's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
I'm not sure what would be causing the dots, but the purple hands is simply a missing texture. Try reinstalling (or re-downloading and installing) the mod that added that armor set. Also, you may want to download LOOT and let it organize your load order if you haven't already. Don't think it'll fix your strange dots but with some luck it might, and even if it doesn't it should save you some trouble further down the road. -
This is awesome news! Hopefully the porting of SkyUI goes smoothly and we'll see some new, great things, or just old favorites returning.

What you would like to see in future DLC's
NikitaDarkstar replied to Stuzy44's topic in Mass Effect's Andromeda
More planets to explore and colonize, more alien life both sentient and non-sentient (there's only two intelligent life-forms and like 5-6 species of animal life in the entire cluster? Really?), more exploring (and undoing?) the scourge and the remnant. -
Would you be redoing the voice-acting too, or just trimming the audio that's already there to make it work better with your new writing?

CALL TO ACTION: Tell BioWare we want ModKit
NikitaDarkstar replied to askavian's topic in Mass Effect's Andromeda
Why? PC sales are only a fraction of what they sell across platforms. By all means, do the petition, just don't expect anything to come of it. The last real time when Bioware allowed extensive modding was DA:O. That's about ten years back. Well, we have to start somewhere. They have to embrace the Bethesda model, then we will get what we want. PC sales of ME3 were actually around 20% overall (not counting WiiU) http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=mass+effect+3 Skyrim PC sales are around 30% overall. I guess the +10% is the mod difference here.... http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=skyrim&publisher=&platform=&genre=&minSales=0&results=200 Not gonna say modding tools wouldn't be nice, but umm.... the so called Bethesda model is based on releasing a buggy as f*#@ game running on the same, unstable, fidgety engine they've used since Oblivion, just with more crap added on top and then hoping the modding community will fix it. Do you really want to encourage EA to release even glitchier games? Cause if you're going to ask them to look at the pros of the Bethesda model you should count on them looking at any way they can cut (more) corners and save (more) money too. Also, I shudder to think of how EA would handle mods for other platforms, cause yhea Bethesda made a mess of it, but EA's shortsighted money-grubbing would most likely not set a better standard. -
You mean the helmet? Cause if so you can do that under Settings > Games. As for what I'd like to see once we get the tools to do it? A makeup overhaul. The eye-shadows could do with some softer edges, most characters lipstick is way too intense (poor Suvi) the scars looks like they were painted on rather than being actual scar tissue, the tattoos are... cool but the size and placement is kind of wonky. And lets not forget the hair colors, all those choices and somehow most of them end up looking awkwardly fake? Luckily I'm fairly sure things like this will be coming as soon as we get tools to extract and repack files.

[WIPz] Fallout 4 Script Extender (F4SE)
NikitaDarkstar replied to behippo's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I've done that Dan AND even followed IanPatt's advice to delete various .pex files https://community.bethesda.net/thread/3335?start=255&tstart=0 Sadly, like so many others I keep reading of on the forums, I just keep getting the *Play/Options/Support/Exit* screen over n over n over .... not even the full start screen anymore  I have no idea what is actually going on with this last update, but it really does look Beth' have rogered the pooch so to say  I just hope I dont have to reinstall my whole FO4 once this mess is 'sorted' because I had things running so sweetly (for a change) . I don't see how this is Bethesda's fault. The base game runs fine, if anything this is a problem with F4SE. edit: Anywho following IanPatt's advice worked for me. Game works fine. Just wanted to add that following IanPatt's advice solved my problems too.- 717 replies
