  1. I have to +1 this.. the sounds that bug me the most are when you collect butterflies, bees or insects and it makes a munching sounds.. like I'm eating them or something. Not cool, especially with spider eggs..
  2. That's three Dawnguard Towers stacked ontop of each other and some others used around the sides. Use the Tamriel LOD for 'mountains' in the background, then just wall the rest of the area off with Blackreach walls. As for walling off the rest of 'Azeroth', I'd prefer to see the route, but not be able to take it. If you want an invisible wall, like the ones on the boundaries of Skyrim; then drop a collision plane down, blocking the way. Then post this script into a trigger box, just infront of it. Scriptname OutofBoundsScript extends ObjectReference Event OnTriggerEnter(ObjectReference akActionRef) If(akActionRef == Game.GetPlayer()) Debug.Notification("You cannot go that way.") Endif EndEvent Simple script I use on some of my work, that gives the same message you receive when you approach Cyrodiil, etc.. "You cannot go that way." Also, if you're planning to do the dragon battle on the terrace, then don't forget to generate a height-map for the world-space, once you're finished; otherwise the Dragon will fly through the terrain and buildings, and it will look sloppy.. I'd also drop his landing or crash landing point on the terrace somewhere, otherwise at 20% health, he'll just fly around in the air and be immune to death. The dragon battle would be a fun thing to script, I have to admit. Last thing; make sure you hand make the navmesh; generating outdoor navmesh is sloppy and causes no end of problems with followers and encounters.
  3. I personally always use manual installations, so I know exactly what is overriding what. It's pretty simple. Most of the time it's a simple matter of drag and drop into your skyrim/data folder.
  4. Zzjay did some fantastic work, that's found here; http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/28147//?
  5. Get your interiors and exteriors done and I'll help out with the papyrus. I have a few of my own projects and I'm helping out with a handful of others, but I'm sure it won't be a while until you've done all that anyway. I'd suggest just making an entirely new world-space called Deadwind Pass, then just make a valley out of Blackreach rocks and walls, thrown in with mountains and cliffs, ect.. Deadwind pass is quite a simple valley, so I wouldn't have thought it would be too hard to make. Then just make a cave entrance into the valley via the mountain range between Skyrim and Cyrodiil. There's plenty of vanilla content you could do all that with. You wouldn't even need to make a weather template or alter the region info, just use the Kathspire one, that's desaturated and misty enough. As for Karazhan itself.. without using custom models and textures, I'd suggest playing around with the Imperial exterior stuff, since it's flexible.. or the Dragonreach base. Your interiors could be made up of WRDungeon or WHCastle objects. I don't think there is any part of Karazhan that is impossible with the vanilla stuff. Just don't ask me to script the Chess game.. that would give me a headache. Everything else is pretty straight forward.
  6. Can I kindly ask how that can be an interesting mod ? Sorry, it wasn't a serious post. It was a joke. On a more serious note though, I'm sure it would be a good idea to get in contact with the person who made the kissing mod and ask if he'd implement it for spouses only.
  7. Someone needs to make a toothbrush mod first.
  8. Great idea. You know, lore friendly or not lore friendly, I don't really mind when it comes to mods like this. As long as it's as fun as it was in WoW, then I'd definitely love to see it. More power to you for taking on such a big project. Good-luck!
  9. Love this idea. Anything that adds immersion gets a plus one from me. I have an additional idea to add onto the executions; When you're caught for a serious crime, like murder for example. You're escorted to the cells and locked up for a night, awaiting your execution the following morning. This would still give the player that last 'get out of jail free card', lock-pick scenario.. and so much more would be at stake as you try desperately not to break your one and only, life saving lock-pick. I had suggested this mod a while ago, but nobody picked it up. I'm modestly adept with the Creation Kit though, so I'm willing to help out if someone wants to do the grunt work?
  10. Haha, have to love the sound effects. Great film though, have to love Arnie. For a mage-like character that would definitely look cool and immersive, though if you were playing a mage character, surely you would just use candlelight or magelight instead? I do agree though that lighting torches would add a lot more depth to dungeons. I think what 'they' (people before electricity) would do is light one torch with another and share them around. No idea how they lit the first one though.. with flint and tinder I suppose? +1 I'll help out with the scripting if needed.
  11. Just get rid of the dumb dialogue they take up as a wife. It's so general and cliché. It's completely out of character for Aela 'the Huntress' to suddenly start kissing your arse and baking you cakes once you're married. I like the idea of adding more idle markers and things for them to do, but pregnancy is a bad idea, just because of how time works in Skyrim. Even skipping a day with the built in 'wait' function takes its sweet time. I doubt their are many players here that have played 9 months of game time. Another downside to that is that even if you did get pregnant, or get your wife pregnant, then have a kid.. would they grow up too? If so, you'd need to age every single NPC in the game, including your own, otherwise it wouldn't make sense. Stick to adoption, kids are annoying anyway. All the other ideas I support 100% +1
  12. I like the idea of a town; it's a good name and a clever idea.. but Arkay is the mortals god of life and death, and Molag Bal is the creator of immortality. The deity you're describing is basically Molag Bal; to spite Arkay he created an immortal race (vampires). I think the lore is a little too set in stone on the Daedric Princes, but kudos on your creativity. Edit; @Nightinglae850; It's quite easy to make a town that would change and/or disappear/reappear, just extremely time consuming. You'd just have to set each and every building, structure, plant, tree, shrub etc.. to an x marker and disable and enable each version as and when you needed to; (much like when you upgrade a room in your house, the cobwebs disappear and furniture appears).
  13. I had thought of making a similar mod, but not with any pre existing faction/guild. I was thinking of making a purchasable guild hall that you could do up, decorate, build bedrooms and recruit members for. Then you'd issue tasks/quests to your members. The main problem I had was implementing the quest structure after the recruitment process; everything before that is pretty simple to implement. Anyway, great idea, but if you're planning to do this with the vanilla game, the problem is dialogue.
  14. I agree that as far as physical strength goes, of course a woman would never swing an axe as hard or as fast as her male counterpart, but I'm confident they'd put an arrow in you just as well as any man.. or slit your throat with a dagger. I definitely feel there is some weight behind this mod; just not in the sense of 'there should be less female warriors'.. perhaps only that the existing female characters be more adequately equipped. I'm not a history buff, but I don't think it's relevant anyway; this is a fictional world, and the impression I get from Skyrim is that the men are hardened, the women are hardened and the children are hardened. This is also a world far more war struck and dangerous than our own, so it make sense that more people in Tamriel have taken up arms.. and that the women have learned to defend themselves too. I feel that this mod has potential, but only if it goes by the approach of equipping the women more appropriately.
  15. You're right, there are too many female soldiers. Somebody make a mod and put them back in the kitchen where they belong.. or one where they faint at the sight of blood. On a serious note, I disagree with the idea of this mod. I'm curious to see which part of the lore you found that made them seem 'out of place'.
  16. The map is a nice idea and quite easily doable I'd say; and as you already pointed out, the only problem would be fitting 200 markers on a piece of paper the size of a map. I can't really see a way around that.. unless you wanted something truly immersive, that had no map markers? Bandits actually do have priority orders, and so do other NPC's; it works on relationship ranks and factions; and they'd still want you dead after the skeleton is gone. Yes, I agree that the lack of first and third person animations for objects and doors is annoying. I'd love to see this implemented too. I'm willing to help out with the map one, if you're willing to do all the papyrus work. I can do the modelling and textures, but my papyrus knowledge is limited at best.
  17. If you need any help on dialogue then just send me a message and I'll get back to you. I've done quite a few followers and quest NPC's and would like to think I know what I'm doing.
  18. I'm not caught up on the Dwemer language, but there are Daedric books and text, as well as Dragon language books about; and there are people within Skyrim who can read them, heck, Moth priests can read Elder Scrolls, so go figure.. and with the new DLC, Apocrypha was introduced, so people even Hamaeus Mora could perhaps assist you, after you've defeated Miraak? +1
  19. From an immersion point of view, I have to say I doubt the people of Skyrim care about keeping clean. I know it's an entirely different world to ours, but it's fair to assume it's based around a medieval era.. and taking care of your appearance and hygiene was considered a feminine thing; usually a wash basin or bucket of water would suffice; dip your head in and away you go. Saying that, I don't suppose it would hurt. You'd be mocked by all the fellow nords for pruning yourself, but at least you'd smell nice! There are several mods out there with showers and bathing areas, heck, most player homes feature one these days. I know Riverside Lodge has a bathing area; http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14308//? There was another mod recently that added showers to the Inns, but I can't remember the name.. just search the Nexus. There's plenty out there.
  20. Check this page; http://www.creationkit.com/Tutorial_Creating_a_Playable_Race
  21. The problem here is that new followers have new voice actors. There's nothing anyone can do about vanilla voiced characters.. you could use existing dialogue, but there isn't much to use for what you're asking.. unless you have Paul Ganus's number (voice actor for all male nords).
  22. I'm all for immersion, it's the main thing I concentrate on when making my mods; but what I've learned is that some things are better forgotten; like why nobody goes to the toilet.. because who wants to see that? And you should also note that Skyrim is a cold tundra in a medieval setting, it's reasonable to assume towns and villages would be nowhere near as populated as our towns and cities; and as it is, every character in the game has their own bed or residence, so I think the immersion there is perfect. Oh, and you'll notice that if you kill someone from that town, their coffin will appear in that villages crypt; and someone else will take over their chores. Oh, and the taverns in each major settlement are different; they all follow the theme of that area; Bee and Barb follows the Riften feel, Bannered Mare uses the Whiterun tiles, Winking Skeever has the solitude look; they're all very different. If you're talking about the farming villages like Riverwood, Winterhold, Morthal and so on.. then yes, they're all very similar, but definitely not copy pasted. A lot of work went into making them different, but yes.. they use the same farm house interiors; but that's no different to what I'd expect in the real world; these villages are very close together.. of course they're going to look the same. Prison is another one that's not really worth it.. a real prison experience? People in prison are there to be punished, and gamers don't want to be punished.. at least not on that level. I'm all for role playing, but it would basically mean game over. You'd be able to walk around your cell.. and sleep.. that's it. What else do you expect from a prison sentence? This isn't a modern world, where they had their prisoners work and do chores; it's a cold, medieval world where they'd likely let you rot in your cell for murdering an entire village. Execution however.. that's something to look into; because lets face it. If you murdered an eight people in cold blood.. they'd hang you, not stick you in a cell. My List A more adult experience. The Witcher did a great job of making the world seem dark and moody, much like something you'd expect in that era; men outside taverns urinating against a wall, stumbling down the street, singing and drunk. There are brothels (done in a tasteful way), fist fights in the street, underground fight clubs (which makes me wonder what people in Skyrim do for fun), and there was a lot of swearing too, which is great for that dark ages feel.A more involved crafting system. I know your character is the Dragonborn, but being able to become a master Blacksmith, better than anyone else in Tamriel, within a day is just ridiculous.. and all you do is pick which weapon or armour you want to create. I'd like a system where you pick a Steel sword for example, but then also pick the shape of the blade and hilt, so you can make many variations of Steel swords. Perhaps even a unique style for each of the smiths already in game.. so you could look at a blade and go; "Ah, this is Alvors work."Hardcore mode; I'm a sucker for these modes and always have been, since Diablo 2; when you die, your save game is erased; just like in Hardcore mode for the Witcher. I'd also like combat to be more realistic. I want enemies to die like they do on easy, but I also want the player to take as much damage as they do on hard. A couple of arrows or a well places swing of a sword should take you down. This would make me think three times before entering a dangerous situation; not just run in and kill everyone, like I do now. You'd have to weigh up each situation and plan it out.. you'd also never attack anyone in town, it would mean certain death.Fire. For the love of god, will somebody please make fires in taverns and so on actually hurt you; even kill you, when you stand in them.. it's nonsense. It's a massive immersion issue for me to stand there in a fire, talking to an NPC. I know why Bethesda left that out, because they didn't want their villagers accidentally walking into one and killing themselves, but that's a planning issue and a poor work around. These fires aren't navmeshed, so I don't see the problem. Pretty small list, but they were the main things bothering me.
  23. The main problem with large quest mods, or mods that involve many NPC's, isn't the scripting or even a time issue, it's the dialogue that's a problem. It's a long winded process writing dialogue, getting voices actors and then linking them to the actors. I suppose you could cut corners and not have any spoken dialogue, but it ruins to feel of the mod. I'd like to see these clans created though. Good-luck to whoever takes it on.
  24. I've setup a custom follower package and custom dialogue (I wanted a follower like Serana, that couldn't be dismissed or told to do things), so I figured I'd use a global variable and just switch it on and off with conditions whenever I needed her to follow me. Here is my code; GlobalVariable Property IsNameFollower Auto If IsNameFollower != 1 IsNameFollower.SetValue(1) akSpeaker.EvaluatePackage() Else debug.notification("Error") Endif and here is the error I'm getting; Starting 1 compile threads for 1 files... Compiling "TIF__030A7365"... C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\skyrim\Data\Scripts\Source\temp\TIF__030A7365.psc(9,0): no viable alternative at input 'GlobalVariable' C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\skyrim\Data\Scripts\Source\temp\TIF__030A7365.psc(9,24): no viable alternative at input 'IsNameFollower' No output generated for TIF__030A7365, compilation failed. Batch compile of 1 files finished. 0 succeeded, 1 failed. Failed on TIF__030A7365 Any help would be much appreciated. Papyrus isn't my strong point, but I'm getting there.. slowly.
  25. Much like in the companions quest, once you've finished your initiation you're added to their faction and are able to sleep in their beds and take their things without it being considered stealing. I'm trying to do the same thing with my mod, but keep getting errors. This whole papyrus thing is going straight over my head. I've already made the faction and have the quest working; I tried adding the script Game.GetPlayer().AddToFaction(FactionID) to the end event of a dialogue branch. Now is this the wrong way to go about it or is the code simply wrong? Any help would be appreciated. I'm probably missing something really simple.
