  1. hmmmm....I am probably thinking of two different things and using the wrong words for both... I don't want the mods to overwrite each other yes, but I figure I can avoid that by just reading the descriptions and ensuring that I don't get two mods that do the same thing, but yes that is a worry. The main worry though is that I have one mod that will make another mod not work....like I know that some mods won't work if you have open cities mod which I really like. Also there is another mod that makes whiterun a really big forest but there are some mods that won't work if you have that mod running. More than anything I guess it is just like I said, I have to really pay attention to the descriptions if I am searching on my own...I put that in my original post thinking that people who are much more familiar with the game and mods than I am would know which mods would not be good together and in particular with the mods I listed.
  2. hmmmmm.....thanks for all that info. Now I am re-thinking adding any of those I mentioned. But I will do as you suggest and add them one pack at a time to figure out what works and what I like. I think I need to stop and think for a bit about what I really want to add. Do I really want or need the trees to look better...are they taking away from my enjoying the game as they are now? Same with buildings and cities....do I want to fix them so they look better....and I am already thinking that the things I want most to fix are the buildings and cities and not so much the landscapes and water and stones etc... Really good response Jones, appreciate your time.
  3. I have been having a bit of trouble finding mods that don't conflict. I think it's because I don't really understand the idea behind textures and meshes and so on. Basically I am looking for a set of mods that won't conflict with each other that will make things pretty/more realist/more high def/just better so land...basically water, rocks, ground, trees, flowers cities and towns, buildings, objects. now some of this I think I may have found.... Noble Skyrim Static Mesh Improvement Mod - SMIM Skyrim Flora Overhaul Realistic Water Two I think I have covered almost everything with these four, but not sure about rocks/mountains, or just generally buildings in cities...so if anyone has any suggestions to further improve the looks of the game I would really appreciate any suggestions. Oh and I use open cities so nothing that conflicts with that either...I REALLY like Open Cities and don't want to get rid of it
  4. thanks....I stopped the bethesda ones...deleted them all...the game runs better now actually....not sure why but it is noticeable.
  5. So with the new LOOT I am finally able to sort mod order without having to do it on my own. When I start the game and go to mods to ensure that all the mods are loaded, the order Bethesda has is not the same as what LOOT has done. So am I doing something wrong? Do I have to click on the mods button on the opening screen and go to Bethesda mods at all or can I just go right in and play my game? Do I have to go to the Bethesda list and make it match my LOOT list? The Bethesda list confused me since I had been using NMM and installed all the mods, I wasn't sure why I had to use the Bethesda one at all. Am I doing this wrong?
  6. ahhh...there we go, yep using the patch...thanks for confirmation that it is a bug and was fixed by a patch...won't drive me crazy any more trying to figure it out
  7. I am thinking that must be it because I can't get it to work at all.
  8. So I have seen several videos and guides that describe how to use soul trap on dead animals once you have looted them to quickly raise conjuration. I have tried this several times with several types of animals and it never works. I get the message that the animal (still dead) resists the soul trap and the corpse moves a bit like it was hit. I can do this dozens and dozens of times and never gain a single point. Has this...bug or whatever it is...been removed? Would a mod be somehow interfering with this method of leveling conjuration?
  9. I installed the version I downloaded and it didn't work. Too bad, would have been a great mod to have
  10. I had seen this mod and liked the idea of it. Downloaded it but hadn't installed it as the posts on it mentioned there was a mistake or something the creator had to fix. Apparently it was fixed and a new version uploaded and so I got that one but decided to wait a bit to see if there were any more updates. Now the mod is gone from the site completely and I am left wondering why....and should I install or not install the download I do have. I am now unsure of the mod and if it is safe, or why it was removed. Can anyone shed some light on this? Was it bugged and I should delete the download I have?
  11. This was a great mod for Skryim and really hoping it gets upgraded for SE Skryim http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/43123/? that's the link. It was great for all characters, always used it to load up my protections and wards. I think it needs SKSE to work so that might be a ways off yet.
  12. I have the NMM installed but have some questions... first....should the game folder that NMM uses be the Skyrim folder or the Skyrim Special Edition folder....because no matter what I do I can't seem to make it use the Special Edition folder. second...when looking at the Skyrim Special Edition patch it says that the load order should be Skyrim.esm Update.esm Dawnguard.esm Hearthfires.esm Dragonborn.esm Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch.esp [The rest of your mods] Now I do have Dawnguard, Hearthfires and Dragonborn but none of them show up in the list of plugins, all I have are skyrim and update. Now those files are in the Special Edition folder in steam, but that just brings me back to my first question as to whether NMM should be using the special edition folder and if so, how do I set it and make it stick.....I can go into options and choose the special edition folder, click ok, but it just won't stick EDIT: got it.....clicking on the folder I want and clicking okay doesn't work...but typing in the folder name and hitting enter does work and it sticks. So now I have the right folder and the DLC's are showing up
  13. I had just started Skyrim and found ASAP an automatic perk mod. Can't play without it now....okay well I could but I really don't want to. Hoping something similar makes it to the Special Edition mods
  14. I will never pay for mods. I refuse to support Steam, Valve or Bethesda in this idiotic money grab. From this day forward I will only work with Nexusmods. I understand completely why some authors here on Nexus will or have removed their mods. It makes me sad. But I will get the best mods I can that are available from Nexus and be thankful for them. I don't care what mods are uploaded to steam, free or paid, I will never use them. This is the most idiotic move by a company since New Coke. I hope both Valve and Bethesda lose their shirts in this with lawsuits or whatever. I am so mad I could just spit *patooie*
  15. Thanks very much Jeir, I appreciate the info. I will go back and check them all again. You are very active and helpful in the forums I see. You also helped me out on my question about BOSS and eventually I figured out how to upload the html file. It's so nice to have an active forum and also a helpful and knowledgeable membership. Too many times forums just degenerate into trolling sessions and mess with the noob. Again, thanks.
