  1. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31088 Try this mod its "random vampire attacks in towns disabled". I had lots of Attacks in Whiterun killing off adriene at the forge and her husband, the captain of the guard and assorted guards. I would get a messenger show up with an "inheritance note" ! If the attacks were very early in the game you don't get the chance to have Adriene teach you a bit of smithing to get some perks! This only stop the "town" attacks but not out in the field attacks!
  2. Have you tried looking in "mods" look down the list to "My mod History". This will show all the mods you have ever downloaded. Since you had this when the game was new, the mod you want should be toward the back of the list. Looking this way IS time consuming but it will give you the mod you had. Even if the mod has since been deleted, it will show you that it existed but is no longer avalible. I have use this to rediscover older mods and reinstall.
  3. I have noticed lately there are many more presets...and most of them are excellent looking females, While Standalone mods (female followers) are declining. Is it just easier to make a Preset than have to flesh out a full Standalone? Or is it just a general decline in interest in Skyrim?
  4. This is not really a request, but more an idea. I know just about every place has a tanning rack, but...it may make a nice mod if one wanted to make a "Tannery" . Some place one could go with all there leftover hides and sell them. Some place that would sell all types of leather goods. Like the Mead hall in White run (instead of making Mead, make leather goods).... A large building with vats to tan hides, people working there, a show room up front to display goods, Lets face it, nearly everyone in Skyrim wares leather goods of some sort! From belts to complete outfits, bed rolls, tents, knapsacks, you name it! Just a thought to give creative mines a project. Skyrim is kind of vast so one might want to consider having 4 Tannery's around, one in each corner of Skyrim Like around Markhearth, Windhelm, Dawnstar, and Falkenwrith Anyway its just an Idea.
  5. I agree with the idea the community should support the mod makes...OF THEIR CHOICE! Not everyone sees mods the same way. Nor do they have the funds to support all mods. The logistics of a support mechanism would be a nightmare. People find what they think is going to be a good mod....for them....only to find its not what they thought...and unload it...should they be paying monthly for that mod? Should they pay a "set" fee to download it? "donations" to the individual should be direct for each mod the downloader personally feel is worthy of a donation. True there will be people that download and feel they don't need to support anything. Then too there will be the hack modder who puts up "crap" for a mod expecting they get paid for it! Donations should be based on what an individual feels a mod is worth...to them. "one size fits all" doesn't work! More like "one mans ceiling is another mans floor"! No matter how you cut it...its going to be "controversial" at best. YES put a "donations box" with the mod...let the chips fall where they may. There are MANY good mods out there that deserve at LEAST verbal gratitude so endorse it. At least an endorsement shows people "this is a good mod" and...IF an individual likes it enough, a donation would obviously be more than welcome! Ones you FORCE a payment on people you tend to lose them altogether. Consider the "vanilla" game cost $50, if one put in a lot of mods and finds its costing them another say $200 they are going to stick with the vanilla game! Thus having a profound effect on modding in general and "pay for modding" specifically! Again....I agree there are some mods worth there weight in gold...can't live without them...IF they had a "donations" button I would surely use it! Constructive Criticism of a mod, Im sure will be taken in the context it was given...however..if one has to "pay" for a mod (and its not all its cracked up to be) some people will get irate and "flame" the modder...NOT good. Even Geniuses are entitled to a mistake! ( but not with a A bomb!) I'm not a modder, I looked at the CK, I have a hard time just trying to figure it all out! So I have the utmost respect for someone who CAN mod. And some modders have a real eye for beauty and detail...putting out some absolutely gorgeous work. (I have even more respect for them) And I don't mind say it with dollars!
  6. Yes! Since Skyrim is "never ending" and with new mods available often, The game can be played indefinitely!
  7. With a $700 budget you can have any card but the TITANs! The top card in Benchmarks is the 980 at about the $510 and up price range. I have the 780Ti and get a consistent 60 fps in skyrim even with 138 extra mods added on. To get "more" out of the cards ability you would need a screen that put out at least 1440 res. The standard 1080p is OK but, you don't get all the graphics the card is capable of ( not even with a 1440 screen but tis much better) Then to you need the power to run the card (and the rest of the equipment) The 980 needs a 500W minimum, the average 290X needs 750W min. with the Powercool Devil l3 needs 1000W min. WOW~ The AMDs run hot as compared to Nvidia and AMD still has a few bug with their drivers. But they still have a bang'in card for the price! New card come out every few months so whats "hot" today may be just "cool" tomorrow. Like I said with your budget the 980 is what I would pick...Preferably an EVGA, as they are usually the TOP card with Nvidia Chips. (the superclocker is just a tad better than the "standard") Keep in mind the card ALONE doesn't always mean you get top performance, your other components must compliment the video card.
  8. All good points! One might consider...as seen on TV...the idea of "try before you buy" I know this would be a logistical nightmare, BUT it seems to work for many things...like vacuum cleaners etc. You get a 15 day "trial period" you are then asked to "pay" if you don't, the mod removes itself! I'm sure in 15 days you know weather you actually WANT that mod! This would eliminated those "crap" mods, and only the more worthwhile mods would stand the test of time. The modder would also benefit as he/she would KNOW just how much his/her mod is worth! If it was just some money grabbing crap...no one would pay for it! If it was worthwhile the modder would get SOMETHING for it. AND of course be encouraged to produce more! I have had to contract many "business" to do work for the company I worked for....some were "just in it for the money" others did a great job for us and we used them again. The "crappy" businesses found their names on the complaint list of the BBB!
  9. You may want to think on this.....I've seen things that come on the Nexus site..."new today"......theres a name....you go to it and there is absolutly NO description...no images...NOTHING to tell you anything but the name. Would you BUY that mod..at any price? I have seen mods that are really good enough to pay for....BUT...should it be ME that pays for it? Lets say I'm a "professional modder" ...I get $25 an hour....I make a mod that takes 10 hours to make...should I get $250 for the mod?...should EVERYONE that downloads it pay $250 each? Just HOW do you implement a "pay for" system? How do you "weed out" the garbage mods? How do you determine what mods deserve being paid for and up to how much you could expect to pay? No matter HOW you look at it its a logistical nightmare. The simple way is...its all FREE...if you're a modder (Professional or otherwise) and you EXPECT to get paid, SELL your services to a company that can AFFORD your work, and can wait to recoup their expenses over a longer period of time. Most of the people download mods that are appealing to them many have 50 or more mods now of they were charged...say...$5.99 each mod, that would be $299.50 that would also be about 6 TIMES what the whole game costs! One would have to be DA## sure he/she really wanted that mod! Obviously this would cut back mod downloads. This also cuts back on creativity. If EVERYONE thought they should get paid for everything they do there would be no charity, no one to help you (unless you could afford it) Then too, there is a rub...as we can see many "mods" use resources from other modders, If THOSE resources have to be "paid for" , many potential mods would go by the wayside. Obviously a modder who has a great idea for a mod but has to pay 8-10-12 different modders for use of their "mod" as a resource, would HAVE to charge for their mod...or...not do it at all. It would in effect kill off the modding community I'm not saying good work Shouldn't be rewarded ..it should! But I'll bet many have been "stung" with crap! If its FREE, you just dump the crap and think twice about take something made from that person. I DON'T use PayPal, I've been stung too often!
  10. I would have to agree with Dark0ne. the logistics of "holding" money would become a nightmare and without an "accounting" office, be near impossible. I, unfortunately have been stung too many times with PayPal and simply refuse to use it. So this puts too many things into a quadray!
  11. I agree one should endorse a mod THEY like! As one can see the more endorsements, the more the community AND the modder knowers "this is a winner" I look at the "most endorsed" section of mods FIRST if I'm looking for a new mod. One should ALSO leave a comment as to what YOU thought of the mod ...if you thought it needed tweaking....JUST how good you think it is, not just an "auto congrats". As to "pay mods" I think everyone has gotten a "stinker" mod at one time or another! One that looked promising but crashed, had bugs, incompatible with better mods etc. WHY would one PAY for that? If you had to pay "up front" only to find it was a stinker...could you get your money back? Not likely! YES I like the idea of donations to the moder who created a GREAT mod IN YOUR OPINION...and IF you wanted to support him/her with dollars instead of just "thank yous". IF everything was a "pay" mod and there were plenty of garbage mods...people would simply stop downloading mods and play the "vanilla" games only. Trying to set up a system to weed out the "junk for money" would be near impossible. I can certainly appreciate the effort, long hours, design and engineering, that goes into modding. That goes without saying but to insist you must be paid...why aren't YOU working FOR Beth or some other gaming company where you can have a steady salary or at least be paid a lump some for your talent. To depend on "the kindness of others" really is more charity than a job! IF your work is well endorsed, you can SHOW a prospective employer your ability! Using a non-pay venue like Nexus can tell you by the number of downloads and endorsements weather your work is WORTHY of being paid for. Professional Artists SHOULD be paid for their work, but I don't think this is the venue for that. THe "pros" would kill off any chance for the "newbie" to get a foot in the door! I also agree this venue NEEDS Pros for some jobs but thats something that has to worked out by the owners of Nexus. Which brings up another subject...should Nexus charge for their services??? IF you firmly believe in the "community"...become a Premium member! There are a lot of ways to "help", not only in encouragement, but with hard earned dollars!
  12. I too was thinking of this! As the player I have collected TONS of stuff. Its a pain to run to all the stores in Skyrim just to get rid of all my junk. Even the mods that give merchants more money, I still have to go to different shops to either sell or buy things. A "Kmart" in Skyrim would be a great idea. BUT as the player you can sell to a merchant, but cant sell to just anybody! There would have to be a system were your items would be "sold" from the shop to fictitious characters, unseen! Were your inventory would go down and income would go up! One would want a "shop" large enough to sell ALL items under one roof and have a place to display item so one could SEE what you have. Such as a counter for just bows and arrows, one for alchemy, one for Armor, one for Gems...etc. Like a real "K mart" Obviously a shop that size would be much too big for a "town" so placing it on the road just outside of a big town would be the best bet. like on the road out of Whiterun going toward Fort Graymoor. I think the cell area there would be big enough and not be in conflict with other mods. The "concept" is good but, but getting that much in one space at one time may be a bit of a problem! I would have to assume it would be a LOT of work! Not something one could make up in a few hours! Having a large "shop" (under one roof) would be a lot better than having to travel to many shops, even if those shops were in a "community" of specialized shops.
  13. There is a mod that allows to to make children "followers" (make any child your follower), since you can only "adopt" two. You just make them a follower and when you get them to one of your houses...just tell them to "wait here" ...or if you have UFO, AFT, etc. you can tell them "this is your new home" you can also "trade" things so you can give them nice clothes too! There is a mod to "adopt" up to 6 children, but to get it to work you have to start you game from scratch!
  14. You can "craft" a bow of your liking. Increase your "smithing" and "Enchanting" skills and "create" a bow nearly exactly as you like to have. When I was in the early stages of the game I found "the ElderBow" (though it was Daedric) it certainly served me very well till I could make my own with "legendary" static and Enchantments.
  15. It occurred to me there are no door knockers on any doors in Skyrim. If one wanted to get some experience with the Creation Kit, This would be a good start. Knockers that reflected the type of house or its occupants persona would set the place apart from others. Say if you were a Vampire you could have a door knocker in the form of a vampire bat with red glowing eyes and big fangs. As the dragonborn, a dragons head.... Made from different metals to show your status, such as iron for lower level and Dwemer for a more "noble" statis. Use your imagination, like a hammer and forge for a blacksmith etc. Just and idea for all you would be modders!
  16. I know you can "buy" furniture from a mod that has a factory in Solitude however it wont let me actually USE the furniture! Just wondering if there is a mod for making USABLE furniture? Obviously something more "noble" Than the present equipment. such as a better double bed, better linen, nicer blanket etc. not "modern" . How bout chairs? and more "noble" than what's available. If one has a few followers or more than two children, there is no place for them to sleep, or they have to play musical chairs if they want to sit down!
  17. You could use a mod like "make any child your follower" and just "recruit" them. then say "hang out here" when you get her in the right home. They will sand box at that location.
  18. I know its not healthy to smoke, but I've been smoking cigars for years. My favorite is Hoy De Monterrey...Excalibur (kind of fitting) I was noticing, NO one in Skyrim smokes! Not even a pipe. A bit odd don't ya think, considering the era? Its just a thought, but how about someone coming up with cigars! Maybe a smoke shop, some NPCs smoking cigars or a pipe. Since my kids see me light up my cigar they call them "the old fogies stogies" sounds like a great name for a tobacco shop!
  19. Just an idea. I'm not a modder so I would have no idea how to do it but, he's an idea. IF you followed history, you know that once one is made a "noble" (Thane) he/she becomes an important person. and as their proses grows, along with there home, merchants tend to try to sell stuff to them or buy things they acquire from there "adventures" Sort of "door to door" sales. As the "dragonborn" becomes more famous (levels up) more merchants want to deal with him. Here's the Idea. The player instead of getting Breezehome, request a plot of land (with plenty of space)...he builds a modest home, as he levels up merchants come to him instead of him going to Whiterun. Then eventually merchants build kiosks close to the manor (which can be added on as the dragonborn levels up. then the kiosks become establishments...a "town" is born. With a town comes walls, guards and taverns. The idea is the Manor/town "grows" with the player, AS, he levels up. None of that getting 20 mods to create an "instant empire". You would have to EARN it! This could add MANY new factions to the game. The dragonborn could build the merchants buildings and ret them out. Determine who gets to be an "overseer", were the walls go, how becomes a housecarl, a merchants "guild" Should there be a "brothel"? outside of the walls? How to get out of the "city" if bandits (or the war) attack. It all up to your imagination! Keeping it in the contexts of the game and at least in the same era! Just an Idea. I know this would take LOTS of skills and a vast knowledge of graphic art and the creation kit but I'm sure that if someone WANTED to do it, it could be done!
  20. You may want to try this download: My home is your home give any one a gift make any one your follower (even children) I have a large estate, and I too don't like to see people in great poverty nor children with out even a bed to sleep in. With the above mods you can get children of the street to follow you...take the to your home and use the dialog, this is your new home, and they will stay there (if you have my home is your home) with the "gift" mod, you can buy cloths and things to "give" them. Its not perfect but at least you know there safe!
  21. I see lots of mods to create arrows, however I see none that lets you upgrade arrows to "legendary" nor can you "enchant" arrows at the Arcane table. Since you can do it with armor and your bow...why not with arrows? It would be nice if your arrows could match your equipment. At present even the poorest iron arrows kill well, when fired from an enchanted bow. In real life, that wouldn't be the case. To get good hits and top damage from an arrow it should also be top-of-the-line. Just some thing for a modder to think about.
  22. Its called "my home is your home" In nexus just use the "search" at the top of the page!
  23. Here's my problem. I want to adopt more children, but, because of the limits of "two children" in the game, you cant do it (yes I know there are mods out there that are suppose to allow it...didn't work) I was thinking, I have "my home is your home" and it works great! I can bring a follower to one of my homes and tell them this is your new home and they stay there or go back to it when "its time to part ways" NOW if there was a mod that makes children "followers" one could simply ask the child to "follow" you to the new home and tell them "this is your new home"....instead of not being able to adopt them in the first place. I have houses that have the beds etc. for children. This also would be nice to allow the player to TAKE the children to the market with the spouse, instead of hearing the kids say how they went to the market with your wife... while you were out "adventuring". Its a poor father indeed that can only play tag or hide-and-seek with their kids! Any one want to try this?
  24. Hi All, I know there are mods to change housecarls but they change all at one time. I only want to change Valdimar and Gregor to female and give them better stats. My followers are all female and I would like to have those housecarls female as well. Its not a fetish, just think females interact with females better than they would with males. Could they be made without permanent armor/cloths? I would like to dress them myself to suite there location and purpose. Thanks!
  25. My girls wear the Unique Animated Crown, and my wife has the Snowwhite Crown. This works for me as I can tell at a glance who your follower is, in a congested fight or dark area. You can pick up "hats" from bandits as loot, and you can buy them from "Radiant Raiment's" in Solitude. Even "general goods" stores have hats and shrouds. I know a few woman that should be wearing a shroud...on backwards!
