  1. useful tips about starting object names with symbols like # or ^ i keep sets of stuff i use with the same beginning name for that reason Blacksmith's gloves Blacksmith's charm Blacksmith's ring Blacksmith's apron so i can find it and equip it fast without cluttering up my quick menu same thing for alchemy, fortify one handed, fortify two handed, sneaking, pick pocketing, lockpicking make a suit for every occasion, keep the first word the same. that's a neat little trick for organizing. i may just start using the symbols, so i can get more creative with my names, and still keep them together in my inventory followers can get pretty godly when every item you give them has fortify marksman or one handed/two handed. change that stuff to help your follower use the "right" weapon
  2. the last living dwarf, although he looks like a fat guy riding a spider centrurion. yup, probably him...
  3. for my character, i am maxing out smithing and enchanting. i visit vendors quite a bit for grinding my crafting stuffs. so, whenever i am bartering with a merchant (all the time for new crafting supplies) i have to equip "Barter Club VIP" my custom amulet for better prices, and cissero's clothes. if im doing a lot of bartering (selling my enchanted daggers) i will chug a potion. immediately go to miscelaneous and buy every iron ingot and ore (for tons of practice daggers) and leather strips (i use em faster than i can make em, plus i cant argue with 5 gold) for alchemists, i buy every ingredient under 10 gold, and all their minor healing potions (around 30 gold each) i also buy every soul gem (filled or empty) i dont care about the price because i just sell them my enchanted daggers from grinding, or some epic potions. crafting can really break this game. i need the soul gems for a mod (magika sabers expanded) my character is a saber smith, and it requires a filled soul gem for each saber (the ones i trap myself wont work) i use the build your own home on the waterfall, next to the abandoned prison. wonderful custom house, would highly suggest this one. oh, and im a bit ocd with stuff in my house. ive got a container for everything. i see im not alone here... theres the cheese barrel (i collect a lot of cheese), i keep telling myself im going to eat it all someday, but theres just no way. pelts barrel. extra leather and strips go here too. the meat barrel. all meats all the time. cooked or uncooked. the veggie barrel. all uncooked plant food goes here. container for cooked foods. it seems i keep stashing it and not actually using the stuff here. soul gems and spare daggers next to enchanting table. drawers for the armor i wear occasionally, but mostly just store unique clothes here chest for arrows weapons and armors to sell someday, enchanted or not container for enchantable apparel, rings, circlets, amulets, clothes, boots, gloves my treasures chest by my bed with gems, extra expensive ingots, snow pelts, skulls, favorite books, sentimental misc objects... place for drinks, wine, mead, a few potions crafted potions, expensive potions, stolen potions, extra healing potions poisons, potions to sell someday, potions that weigh a lot because its like a stack of 50 of course multiple places for heavy ingredients or for huge stacks of stuff that weighs .3 and over and finally, a place to put all the lightsabers i dont use anymore. someday i will make every single one, thats the goal of this character. when i had the house in windhelm, the kitchen had so many sacks, i could use a different sack for each type of food. tomato sack potato sack this ones for carrots and dis one is for leeks and this one for cabbage heres my cheeses... and this is for my meats you get the point. i kept my foods seperate i really like collecting stuff and crafting. do my habbits reflect that?
  4. reminds me of the exploding chickens. saw a youtube of a dude using the console command to spawn explosive chickens and tried to guess the amount to kill random stuff. was pretty amusing actually...
  5. sorry, didn't mean to reply to my own post... is there an event for when a soul is trapped? if so, that can be my trigger to show the notification. just need to know how to check the player character's inventory for how many empties of each kind of soul gem. think i may need to take baby steps first, papyrus is a lot to take in at once. blah, and i want to major in computer science. i need to learn this stuff, but its a bit intimidating...
  6. ok, do you guys hate it when you capture a petty soul and fill up a greater soul gem because all your others were already filled? me too, and i think its time i did something about it. you know when you trap a soul, and a message comes on the screen saying "soul gem filled" i want to make that more specific, like for example "common soul gem filled 2/7" would i do something like this debug.messagebox (" X soulgem filled Y/Z ") where X = class of soul gem y = filled gems of that type z = total gems of that type i dont know much about scripting using papyrus yet, but im learning i see this may fit better in the request thread, but i wasn't really requesting someone to do this for me. i simply wanted more technical info about how soul trapping works. i just wanted some tips on what kind of things i should be looking into for a better understanding of how the vanilla soul gem mechanics work. would i need to make a script that checks the inventory for empty and filled soul gems, much like the transmute spell does for iron, silver, and gold ores? like as a conditional, if an empty lesser soul is removed and a filled one is replaced, then show my messagebox saying what kind, how many filled and empty. i thought of another approach that might work as well just have a messagebox saying how many of each empty gem when you equip a (presumably custom) soul trap spell anything that might point me in the right direction? i think its a golden idea (probably attempted before in a different way though) im new to modding skyrim, but i want to start off with something unique and different from the usual
  7. actually, sorry about all that other stuff. i just found the solution to my problem. i was crawling through another forum when someone mentioned this concerning lost .esp files for oblivion C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore By Azura, thats it! found all my "missing" .esp files so just in case this is happening to anyone else, check there, because windows is dumb like that.
  8. i read somewhere on a microsoft forum someone was also having trouble seeing their .esp files. someone mentioned running the CS as an administrator once fixed it. i tried this and it really scared me because all i could see under data files in the CS was just the .esm files! i closed out thinking all my hard work in .esp files were gone for good. ran CS again normally and i can load and save my .esp files again no problem... just. I still can't see them in windows explorer. I would very much so like to copy my .esp file to another computer. I don't understand what i'm doing wrong here :( like one day back into morrowind modding and this is what i get. im so frustrated with this. how come this stuff didn't happen when i was younger?
  9. i ran it on daemon tools before. that was only because i actually had the disc, but my laptop couldnt detect dvd rom's, so mounting it on a virtual drive worked for that purpose. im sure im not the only one here who has personally bought a few copies actually..
  10. i know i've seen this same issue before from searching google, but with no apparent answer. i tried it on my girlfriend's new laptop, but i got the same problem. .esp files dont seem to like windows 7 its probably something simple, i dunno...
  11. Im running windows 7 64-bit os and morrowind GOTY. i made a small mod in morrowind, basic shack. i can save my mod and open again in the CS but i cant see the created .esp file. i know where it is supposed to be, its just not there. i even tried saving to my desktop, but i still cant see the file. i have hidden files and folders visible, still nothing. / C: / Program Files (x86) / Bethesda Softworks / Morrowind / Data Files / is'nt it supposed to be in a "plugins" folder? i don't see any .esp files in here, but i can see the .esm and .bsa files. please help. i would really like to know why this is happening. my guess is something lame with windows 7... :(
