Has anyone thought about using the mod Publick Occurrences Expanded to create a couple newspaper related settler jobs and settlement items? Basically you'd have a newsstand that you could build that would get restocked with more articles that you could purchase a copy of in exchange for caps. Something like the book return machines. Maybe also a couple newspaper and book related settlement objects you could stack near it such as a couple boxes of newspapers. I don't know if it would make more sense for you only to be able to purchase the most recent article or if it would stock more and more articles as you progress through the game. For settlers maybe you could assign them to hock newspapers like Nat. So basically similar to the book return machine idea above except you'd be buying a copy off them. Again, I don't know if it would make more sense for them to only have the most recent article or to have more and more articles as you progress. Alternatively, maybe have them stand near a printing press instead (maybe even give the printing press an animation when you purchase an article and have the settler do an animation as if they're giving it to you? Maybe have an idle animation where sometimes it looks like they're fiddling with the machine or oiling it?). Also, it might be neat if they sold other books and news related stuff such as overdue books, pens, pencils, cloth, and so on. Also also it might be neat to expand this idea of media related settlers to other mods such as the radio related mods By Brandoman being sold as holotapes, or certain informational books such as the wasteland survival guide being sold (maybe the books wouldn't do anything but would be sold just to add flavor to the world).

I just came across this mod BL Guns. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/21794 It adds a bunch of guns from Borderlands with originally I assume more guns on the way but the mod hasn't been updated in awhile. The mod itself in typical Borderlands fashion adds a boatload of different guns for you to shoot so for me my problem is that I don't want those weapons to be included in leveled lists but I do want some way to semi organically come across different varieties of those guns so my thought was that maybe someone could create a vending machine sort of like the book return machine or something where you could exchange a certain amount of caps for a randomly rolled gun from that mod. Maybe you could pay more for a chance for it to be a legendary? Going even further though and I have no idea how feasible it would be but it would be even cooler if you could use the mcm menu with the vending machine to have it dispense a variety of guns based off your load order and what you choose in the mcm menu because there's also other gun mods I've downloaded that only have 1 gun and I don't want that 1 gun added to leveled lists but some of those mods don't come with a way to craft that 1 gun or to find a placed unique meaning the only way to get that 1 gun is through console commands so it'd be nice if guns like that also had a semi lore friendly way to be acquired via the vending machine while also making it so that the vending machine wouldn't need constant compatibility patches for all those gun mods. Again, I have no idea how realistic that would be. For the BL Guns I think it would make a little more lore sense at least since there were gun vending machines in borderlands. Thanks for your time.

Well the only other mod that I can think of off the top of my head that might be somewhat close is Northland Diggers Resources. NorthlandDiggers Resources - Animals - Landscape - Garden and more.. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9710?tab=description

Is something like this what you're looking for? Farming Resources https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/28133/?tab=description

Here's the list in no particular order. I have no modding knowledge so I don't know how feasible any of these would be. 1. Wearable power armor helmets. Theres a screen in Fallout 2 of a tribal wearing a t-51 helmet. Maybe while you're wearing a power armor helmet while not in a power armor frame you'd see the power armor hud in first person but the dials wouldn't be lit up or move. 2. Growable tobacco plants. It just seems strange that theres so many cigarettes but no plants. Maybe only growable in planters and pots because they wouldn't be able to grow normally in Bostons climate. Maybe also they wouldn't count towards food production and the plants that would be harvested by settlers could be used to craft cigarettes and cartons. 3. A better version of the torches and lanterns idea by m150. I get fallout has electricity but I feel like a lot of people like raiders or even super mutants should be walking around holding up a torch or a lantern when patrolling their zones. 4. Not exactly sure how in depth this should get but basically add a couple themed vending machine robots that pathfind from vending machine to vending machine throughout the commonwealth as a lore friendly reason as to why the various vending machines keep restocking. I think it'd also be cool to also have a couple mr. handy or protecton mailman themed robots here and there that pathfind around to various mailboxes too. Not that any of these robots would actually refill these machines or actually move any mail but morso they'd just add an illusion of doing so. 5.More throwable weapons that only npcs use like the rocks that behemoths throw. I kind of like the idea of all the throwing weapon mods on the nexus I just feel like they're kind of clunky so as a compromise for myself I just think it'd be cool if more enemies throw various stuff at you that you can't pick up and that disappears after a little while but does do damage to you. Stuff like spears, knives, bricks, different sized rocks, maybe even just various items from the junk category. 6. This one is probably way too complicated but anyhow. I was looking for a mod that uses AI to replicate talking enemies voice lines so that they could do callouts like the enemies from the game F.E.A.R.. For example if you were fighting some raiders and you're crouched behind a wooden fence one of the enemies could use a script to reference an object you're near and then call out "They're behind the wooden fence over there!" (probably with more swearing). Maybe also have a hierarchy to the various types of talking enemies where a higher level enemy would tell a lower level enemy to go attack you or to go flank you. Also maybe super mutants would have more of a broken speech pattern to more closely mimic how they talk normally. 7. 2 manufacturing machines. 1 machine would transmit 1 power if the total number of items in its container falls below a certain number. The 2nd machine would basically do the reverse so if the total number of items in its container exceeds a certain number it would transmit 1 power. Basically you could use these machines with other manufacturing mods to automatically manufacture a specific amount of ammo for you to grab whenever you need more. 8. This one is a joke mod based off the fast travel video by Viva La Dirt League. Basically when you click on a location to travel to in your pipboy and you put your pipboy away instead of a loading screen showing up immediately you'd instead be frozen in place. An npc with a baseball bat would then spawn nearby who would then run over to you, hit you with the bat causing your screen to go black and the fast travel loading screen to then show up. 9. A mod that maybe can be done 2 different ways. 1. Using the mod Standalone Workbenches or something similar create a script that automatically detects all non vanilla recipes added to the chemistry workbench and moves them to a duplicate chemistry workbench just for items added by mods. Or 2. Create a separate chemistry workbench that only had base game, dlc, and creation club content recipes. Hopefully something on this list sounds interesting to somebody.

I don't know if you've already looked at the following mods but here's what I turned up as far as interesting melee weapons go. Screwdriver Shivs https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/64168?tab=description Wasteland Imports - Reloaded (somewhere in there is apparently a broken bottle melee weapon) https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/75387 Improvised Melee Weapons https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/23828?tab=description Raider Battle Axe https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/42125?tab=description Walking Cane Modifications https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/40454?tab=description Proper Party Gear https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/31868?tab=description Big Stick https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16192 Cod Weapon Pack https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/80169

I don't know anything about modding really but maybe someone could create a gun or launcher that jankily is attached to your power armor when you equip it like a grenade. But otherwise in an ideal world I was thinking about something more like Valkyrie's rocket barrage in Apex Legends, or the shoulder mounted launcher that the SPARK unit uses in XCOM 2. As of now though here's 2 shoulder mounted machine gun mods I found. Dak's Shoulder Mounted Machinegun (M2) https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/59277 Shoulder Mounted Machine Gun - Rat Runners Arsenal https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/87191

Not sure if its what you're looking for exactly but here's a mod that moves the third person camera to mimic the ability to see your torso and legs when you look down. Almost Realistic Immersive First-Person View Camera https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/71170

It doesn't exactly help you but Zebrina's Workshop Devices has something similar to what you're looking for but for doors. You can create a switch which will prompt you to grab and release the door you want associated with that switch so then whenever you power the switch the door opens. I have no modding experience but maybe someone could apply that code to function for wireless lights rather than doors?

In no particular order here is a list of 12 mod ideas I'm hoping that maybe somebody would at least be interested in making one of since I have no idea how any of this modding stuff works. 1. Upwards conveyor belts with some sort of new mesh to catch items so that they won't roll backwards back down the ramp. The large conveyor lifts do work but they take up a lot of space and unless you merge a conveyor belt into the top portion sometimes items get stuck in the back such as melons or concrete. 2. Some sort of remesh for certain spherical, cylindrical objects, and certain floaty or light objects so that they don't get stuck rolling in one place on a conveyor belt such as (baseballs, pool balls, corn, cooking oil, basketballs, blight and there's probably others I can't remember). 3. A slightly reworked version of the mod conveyor belt barriers so that all the barriers are just a tiny bit smaller. Right now the way they snap allows smaller items to potentially end up sitting on the edges of the conveyor belts. 4. A variation of some of the cloud storage linked storage containers mods that people have made except that the linked containers would use the conveyor storage container model so that items can be put into the container with conveyors at 1 settlement automatically and then have all the items pulled out automatically with the vacuum hopper at some sort of central storage container settlement such as the CC content VR Worlds grid world. 5. Some sort of machine that would send out a pulse of 1 power when it detects that an item has passed through it. The vanilla contraptions laser tripwire can't count 2 or more items that pass through it at the same time and for some reason gets stuck in the on position sometimes. 6. Some sort of non screwy counting device with a separate input and an output that will send out a pulse of power once it reaches a set number. I've had issues with the vanilla power counter screwing up counting how many items passed through a tripwire when you have multiple counters linked together because Bethesda in their infinite wisdom decided to make both the input and output the same connection point. Also because of how the counter works you can't have it trigger on a number like 16 for example you can only do 2 through 10, 20 through 100, and so on. 7. A pitching machine turret that could reload itself by pulling items it could use while powered from the local workshop. The mod Advanced Fireworks has fireworks launchers that automatically reload themselves from the workshop. I just think it'd be funny to be able to automatically craft a bunch of grenades and then have them automatically fired at raiders. 8. A version of the sorter, vacuum hopper, and conveyor lift that pull in items and push out items a lot faster. 9. Some sort of pressure plate or laser tripwire that would only be triggered by npcs that are hostile to the player that would reset itself or would maybe be able to be repaired automatically by the robot from the mod settlement repair bot. It'd be cool if it snapped to gates or doors. The mod Zebrina's Workshop Devices has tension tripwires that send out a pulse of power when a linked door is opened but they need to be repaired manually same thing with the vanilla laser tripwire. 10. Multiple versions of all the different varieties of conveyor belt lifts with different heights so you can more easily move items up and down large heights. 11. Resizing certain items such as super mutant armor, deathclaw hides, and miniguns so that they can more easily travel along conveyor belts without getting stuck. If need be I can provide a full list of every item I've had issues with when making a centralized manufacturing base. 12. Create a lore friendly navemeshed bridge between Warwick and Spectacle Island that consists of a bunch of strung together boats and barges or some sort of partially destroyed pre war drawbridge. If even 1 of these ideas gets picked up by someone I'll call that a win I just figured I'd throw everything here and see what happens. This is my first post please be gentle lol.
