  1. I can imagine another set of quests to complete if you accept the offer to become the next emperor/empress.

You know, the whole of Cyrodiil is in chaos right now, so I suppose it'd be imperative that you take control. A large portion of the Imperial Legion was hurt, and so that needs rebuilding. Some of the provinces might take the chaos as opportunity to rebel, such as the High Elves or the Dunmer. You'd have to take the sad duty to suppress the rebellion.

Then there's the need for countermeasures against further Daedric incursions due to the lack of the Dragonfires. Mehrunes Dagon wasn't killed, to my knowledge, he was just banished back to Oblivion, no? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Chances are, he'll try again, and so proper countermeasures must be put in place.

And once all that's over, the emperor could control lots of things. First he'd set the level of the taxes all across Tamriel. Then there's military presences, expeditions, etc. Trade, tariffs, embargo, economy. All at the power of the emperor.

However, the main problem with this is that the player isn't always an Imperial, and only an Imperial can become Emperor. I suppose they could settle for "High Councilor" or something like that, sort of like a figurehead for the Emperor spot.

  2. Generally, once I get tired of a set of armor or clothing, I'll look for more. Of if I have spent hours just wandering the countryside doing nothing, I'll look for the occasional quest mod.

Most of them are pretty bad, though, so I rarely ever finish them.

  3. I was disappointed with the way my current sig turned out, so I decided to start on a new one.

This was the result, with the accompanying banner (which must be downsized thanks to the strange avatar limits here).

So, what do you think? Rate/10?

    Offer some advice or criticism?

  4. For the most part, I think that Korean music is repulsive and disgusting. Most of it is repetitive to the point of being absolutely obnoxious, much of this due to being written by the same writers who write everything else.

I'm also repulsed by the focus on so called "hook songs" that, instead promoting that artist's ability to sing or whatever, they resort to choreographed dancing.

There is little true talent in the K-Pop industry.

That's just K-Pop. But the rest of it is disgustingly similar too. Korean traditional music is okay to listen to, but I wouldn't do so on a regular basis. It's just well-composed music.

That being said, I do enjoy my own little bit of K-Pop myself. 2ne1, Kara, and the occasional song by the odd artist or two. I think that the Korean rap industry is severely underrated, even though sometimes it's better than most American artists (lookin at you, Lil Wayne).

But Korean music doesn't make up a large part of my music library.

Also, nice to see another Korean on the boards. English doesn't seem to be your first language, however.

    Immigrant? Or posting from Korea?

  5. I realize that gaming is still dominated by the 14-34 male demographic, so there is a tendency on the part of some to assume that those of us who enjoy playing female characters (especially when we use nude mods, an/or sexy clothing mods) are perverted. the thing the people that make these assumptions fail to realize, however, is that males play these games, and shock! suprrise! We like love looking at the opposite sex! There's also a weird rumor going around that we enjoy sex, and it's very true.. :P

So I guess I don't get why when someone like Exnem makes female clothing that is very revelaing, people assume he's a pervert man. If you turn it around to be the opposite 'People who designs male Sexy Body and Clothing Mod X are gay!' it's equally silly.

I also don't get why some people seem so threatened and even offended by it--the idea of men liking to play female characters and put them in sexy outfits. I have theories, but in the interest of not getting myself banned because people could find it offensive, I am not going to state them openly in great detail here. You're welcome to PM me though. So i am going to stick with some generic statements here about it possibly being caused by insecurity, old-fashioned ideas about how women are supposed to be, and well, a certain amount of outright sexism involved.

I know I'm being vague here, it's because I am trying hard to not get myself banned (REALLY) while still trying to see the opinions of others on the subject. Does anyone agree? Disagree? I like pie?

ETA: Being perverted is not bad, and I am not saying that, I am saying here that assuming males are perverted because of an inability to recognize or accept that woemn have a sexuality and desires and like looking too is the annoying aspect of it.

Just putting things in perspective, really. Also making sure that people understand that playing as females and installing nude mods doesn't = perverted. Oh well.

  6. It seems the OP is quite under informed...

Weed is NOT addictive in any way.

NO ONE have ever overdosed on weed.

Weed has NEVER killed a single person and IS less harmful to your health than cigarettes.

Weed can be beneficial in many ways to stimulate creativity, help people relax, stimulate the apatite, sleep aid and pain reducer, while being a totally organic alternative to over the counter remedies for all of these things.

ALMOST ANYTHING can be made from hemp, which would reduce our dependency on fossil fuels and logging (for paper products) to nearly zero.

By not addictive, I'm guessing that you mean that there are no chemical additives that make it addictive, because you can get addicted to anything. Anything at all. Porn, video games, etc. If your mind believes it needs it, and thinks that it can't function without it, then you're addicted. You can't say that it's not addictive in any way. It just hasn't been chemically altered to be addictive, like tobacco is.

I don't know about not overdosing on weed, but I guess I could trust you on that. Hard to believe it. I'm sure there have been cases of it happening, just nothing documented or official.

I've mentioned that cigarettes are worse than weed. But I'm sure that weed has become a factor in deaths in a lot of cases. Tell me that weed hasn't been implicated as a factor in a murder case or suicide attempt. Yeah.

Also, the usefulness of hemp is basically what keeps me on the fence about it. It surely has medicinal value, just as vicodin, percocet, and various other narcotics do. But then again, so does tobacco and alcohol. I know medicinal marijuana is used.

  7. I'm sorry if this seems to be getting off to a slow start. I'm doing this partially to help remove my writers block so that I can get back to writing for school, so bear with me please.

"Mom, why are we having a salad today? Don't you know that I don't like salads?!"

Your mother has an apologetic look on her face. "I'm sorry honey, but I didn't feel like heading out to buy something for you today. Mommy's been feeling real tired lately."

She puts her hand up to her mouth for a moment and gulps down a glass of water. Something isn't right; what did she just do?

Suddenly you can understand that she just snuck a pill in front of you. But you remember this day happening before, but don't remember her sneaking a pill. You sit down in front of your salad, frantically searching the memories behind this day.

Your mother spend the next three weeks after this staying in bed, with your dad never really coming home, you remember. Why was that? You never cared to bother before, so why now? It was something about the pills she just snuck. You also remember that before, you threw a tantrum about the salad and demanded that your mother make you something else. She didn't oblige, and you were hit in the face, sent to your room crying.

You can see the lines around her face, her eyes look very tired, and her movements are sluggish. Not wanting to be a nuisance anymore you tell your mom, "I'm sorry."

Much to the surprise of your mother, you eat your salad. She looks at you funnily, with an amused expression on her face. When you are finished with your salad, getting ready to get back upstairs to find a way back into the road, she stops you before you make it to the steps. "Do...do you want to go to the mall with me, honey?"

Once again you feel your younger body taking over your emotions. Your body wants to go upstairs and play some video games. Your mind wants to get out of this grayscale world. You say,

    A. "No thanks, mom. I just want to go upstairs and play."

    B. "Not really, going to the mall is so boring."

    C. "Sure, mom, can we take a friend, too?"

    D. "No, mom. There's something wrong with you. What's wrong?"

    E. Don't say anything and go upstairs.

So I've decided that each segment will give you choices that can either change the past, leave it alone, or ruin it. You decide which one to choose. Each one either has a positive, negative, or neutral affect. Some more than others.

  8. Welcome to this CYOA.

I will be taking you down the memory lane of some random person with random memories, presenting you with options to take in ameliorating the past of this random person.

I don't have a real plan for this. Some of my real memories may be included by accident. Just assume they are all fake, however. I'm making this up as I go.

    And so we begin.

You wake up with a shudder. Looking up, you can start to make out the clock next to your bed as your eyes adjust. It's three in the morning.

Last night you did what you do just about every night, spending a good solid 10 hours on the computer and web, playing video games and chatting, studying and goofing off. The last time you've seen a friend since coming into college was a good three weeks ago, and that was just you tagging along with him to watch a movie.

On your desk is a lukewarm cup of coffee, a picture of your mother and father who you haven't spoken to in the last year, and your dog. Yes, your dog.

You lay back down. After about five minutes of staring at the ceiling, you sit up.

Going back to sleep isn't an option; you can never go back to sleep once you wake up. So you get out of your bed to start your day.

You put a shirt on and go towards your door, looking to get a midnight snack from the 7-11 near campus, and kill some time afterwards. You put your shoes on, and open the door. Light bursts into your room, swathing you and everything in sight. When you can see again, you glance down to see a brick-paved road beginning at the foot of your door, surrounded by grass on either side. You bring your head back up and see that the road extends for what seems to be miles and miles. Despite the bizarre circumstances, you decide to take a walk.

After about a hundred yards, a gateway of some kind comes into view, along with a road to the right leading into. Curiosity taking over now, you take the road right and head towards the gateway. Once there, you see a portal leading to a room that looks vaguely familiar. You enter and find yourself in a decidedly grayscale world. Something feels amiss about your body, and objects seem to tower over you. You turn 360 degrees, and see a mirror, and what is in the mirror. Your younger self.

Suddenly it clicks, you have returned back to your room at home, away from college. You have returned to your younger self. But why?

No sooner did you ask the question when your mother comes into the room and finds you staring at the mirror. "Hey honey, lets go downstairs and get some lunch for you, huh?"

You follow your mother downstairs, the whole situation seeming all too familiar. Yes, it is noon, you can tell now from the way the lights pass through the windows, and how it reflects on your skin, on you, the only colored person in this bizarre reality.

You arrive at the kitchen, and on the table is a salad. Suddenly you swell up with frustration; you HATE salads.

    Before you know it, you

    A. Throw a tantrum. You HATE salads.

    B. Ask your mother why you're having a salad.

    C. Yell at your mother and stomp upstairs.

    D. Sit down and have the abhorrent salad.

And at the end of this first chapter, I feel like I've wasted a tremendous amount of time. Forgive me for wasting yours. Haha.

  9. To you, that is.

I'm just curious as to what other people think on the subject of drug abuse, illegal drugs, prescription abuse, etc. In a country such as America that almost seems to glamourize drug dealing and use, I think it's important that everybody has an educated opinion on it. Where do we draw the line for drugs, for example? What constitutes an illegal drug?

Marijuana is brought up a lot in these discussions, so let me start off by asking what it is to you, how you think it should be taken care of, and why it should be illegal or legal. There is fierce debate going on everywhere about the legalization of marijuana, the pro-weed people generally citing facts about marijuana being non-lethal in moderation, not as detrimental as tobacco, and also used in medicine. The anti-weed people are generally citing facts about the harm it can cause, actions under intoxication and the like. You know, overdose.

Personally, I'm kind of on the fence about this whole debate. I'm sure that some sort of extra revenue can be earned by the government by trying to tax it, but I just know in the back of my mind that people will go bat**** over it, saying that it's unconstitutional, preying on marijuana addicts, etc. I'm just kind of perplexed at people saying that it has health benefits, seeing as how limited use of tobacco, alcohol, and even narcotics are used in medicine to treat a variety of symptoms.

    What do you think?

Thinking about it, I'd also like to say right here and now, that I've experimented with drugs myself. I once gave into peer pressure and did some weed several months ago, but I haven't tried it again. I experiment with percocet and vicodin lying around the house, and I feel terrible about it because it's my mother's prescription (she doesn't need them, really). I've never used any of the more serious stuff, like cocain and heroin, but I've entertained thoughts about it. I'm in a lot of stress as of late, what with wrestling season and personal problems, so this type of thinking is generally easier.

Do I get in trouble for saying these things?

  10. First is just the background, and I thought it looked nice by itself.

But I just kept thinking that it was a little empty.

Then in this one, after a long time of thinking and pondering, I decided upon Batman to finish the job with.

    http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll207/DrunkenLoser-012/drunken-sig31batman-1.png

I'm just wondering how each one looks, whether I should find a different motif, and how you guys rate it. Since there are a lot of Photoshop/art savvy people on this board.

    Thank you.

  11. Why can't we just have experience for everything?

XP for killing an enemy, XP for sneaking past guards into buildings, XP for stealing items, XP for completing quests. It's a time old formula that has worked for a long, long time.

Then, when time comes to level up, you can only level up attributes that you've advanced skills into.

    So simple, so easy.

You have practically described the leveling system on TESIV

Other than the fact that Oblivion doesn't use a classic XP system, completing quests and stealing items doesn't get you experience points, and you can level attributes that you didn't advance skills in.

  12. What I've always been wanting is the encouragement of GROUP COMBAT. YES!

How many times in Oblivion and Morrowind have you gotten into a big clusterf*** of a fight with allies mixed in with bad guys? And of those times, how many times have you accidently hit and ally and heard, "Help! Murder!"? WAY too many times.

There should be an option for friendly fire that activates only in combat. Therefore, you can hurt people allied to you when out of combat, whenever you need to. And if you find the need to hurt your friends, then you can just turn it off!

Anybody allied to you will be invulnerable to your hits, and they you, when this is activated. Thus, combat can be smoother, and fighters like me can get into a fight, dick swangin, swords blazing.

I like the fact that I can make mistakes and have full control of what I do even if that means im gettin' nicked by the guards, but if you want a saftey on your weapon you should sheathe it and if we dont want to hit our dumb AI allies why not get the AI wars dev team to do the AI.

Yes, not fighting at all totally encourages group fighting. Watching that battle play out (which usually ends up with you fighting alone, your useless friends dead) is totally amazing. /sarcasm

It's not even the fact that I'm getting hit or hitting allies. It's the fact that I'm charged for murder by the same guys who I was just fighting with. Totally breaks the realism. A safety mode would break it a little less, IMO.

Also, the devs really need to modify the engine to allow room for more actors to be on screen at once than usual. This could make for more epic battles without slowdown, instead of another disappointment (Battle of Bruma, Fight with Jyggalag). I'm tired of battles that are supposed to be huge that only have 15 participants. Sure, that's a decent skirmish by today's standards, but not by fantasy battle standards, mang.

AI is a problem, too, but that can only take it so far. The animations themselves send actors forward when they forward power attack, which can be a problem when you're ganging up on somebody. Something like Deadly Reflex would also be great.

  13. What I've always been wanting is the encouragement of GROUP COMBAT. YES!

  14. Physics has worked sometimes, but there are mods out there that aim to FIX it in Oblivion. That means there's something wrong with it.

I've found that it sometimes is too strong and exaggerated. Toning it down a bit might help. Hell, Starcraft II uses Havok, and it looks just fine.

  15. Why can't we just have experience for everything?

  16. I'm a PC Gamer first, Wii/DS gamer second. I play most of my games on the PC, but when I'm not feeling like it I'll go for a round of Monster Hunter, SSBB, Final Fantasy, or other DS games.

DS is an especially awesome thing on trips.
