  1. typically they use very high resolution skin textures - like, 4096x4096 or 2048x2048. also, lighting effects it a lot.
  2. Morrowind had 19 years to develop mods try back again after your children play this game Morrowind came out in 2002. Not anywhere near 19 years. @Reaper: Look at the Fallout universe, then the Elder Scrolls universe, then the Fallout universe again. It's a different game world - guns fit in better in Fallout than they do in the Elder Scrolls.
  3. I'm going to attach a sword mesh to a stick and make a weapon that uses only stab animations.
  4. Had some issues accessing the sites earlier and am getting mediocre downspeeds compared to what I usually get...around 900kbytes/s compared to my usual 3.5mbytes/s. Steam still maxes out my bandwidth, so it's not a problem on my end.
  5. Can't legally do it and redistribute it. I'm pretty sure the Requiem mod makes it a moot point though, since it requires F3 and just puts a portal to Fallout 3's Capital Wasteland in New Vegas...so you could just grab the amour in NV and wear it in F3.
  6. both can be done. i'm pretty sure you could just set the door mesh to your rowboat mesh, though i could be wrong...haven't really looked at the CS in a long time.
  7. \Fallout New Vegas\Data\ Drop the ESP in there, tick it in FOMM.
  8. My specs: Phenom II 945, ASUS M4A77TD PRO, 6 GB A-DATA DDR3 1333, XFX HD 5850 1 GB It does this in vanilla and only started after I got the Steam version (old disc broke). Even if it was related to textures, I get the exact same FPS at low as I do with the game maxed with 4xaa and 16xaf.
  9. Whenever I look at an NPC, my FPS goes from 60 solid (I use vsync) to around 20 FPS. It does this with and without mods and my graphical settings make no difference at all. I'm using the Steam version of the game and my specs are in my sig. This is what I've tried so far... Revalidating files on Steam - didn't do anything. Issue persists.Disabled Steam cloud - only kept it from destroying my ini every time I close the game.Deleted my ini about five times and had it regenerate. Issue persists, also tried the DLL fix for Fallout New Vegas (was worth a try) and that just makes it default to medium (rather than low) when it regenerates.Tested vanilla, issue is there with or without mods.Have lowered my graphical settings - my FPS stays the same at low as it does at 1680x1050 w/4xaa, 16xaf and QTP3.Have tried disabling sound via the ini, doesn't effect performance.Have tried forcing 3.0 shaders and the various multicore tweaks, doesn't do anything for my performance.Have tried disabling and enabling Catalyst A.I, didn't fix it.Have tried the LAA Enabler/3gb patch/whatever you want to call it. Does nothing.Have tried using OSR. Doesn't help, no matter which heap I use. Also tried turning vsync off. That doesn't do anything to help. :/ So uhh, any known solutions? I'm fine on any other game out there.
  10. If you have the GOTY Deluxe version from Steam, you should have Battlehorn Castle. Up to you on whether you should grab the CS or not - if you don't intend to edit any mods, you won't need it.
  11. Go to the login page. Shows this...
  12. Didn't get the E-Mail. Pretty sure it's a scam - try hovering over the links in the E-Mail and seeing if they actually go to a Beth site.
  13. Southern New Jersey, the land of tomatoes, cranberries and blueberries. I'm proud of our blueberries.
  14. Uh, nothing for Oblivion is hard to install so long as you RTM (read the manual). You should probably grab Wrye Bash.
  15. Steamworks is the DRM that FNV uses - the GOTY version will definitely use Steam as well. I'm betting that the disc GOTY version will hit by Christmas, maybe early next year.
  16. Don't bother with the conflict detector in OBMM. Install the Unofficial Oblivion Patch, the Unofficial Shivering Isles patch, the Unofficial Official Mods Patch, and lastly but not the least, the Supplementals. Install any mods you want to use after this.
  17. Uh, what? I had a 4870 (1gb) for years. It ran the game fine with QTP3, 4xaa and 16xaf. I also had a launch 4850 for awhile which maxed the game fine with QTP3; the limiting factor in Oblivion is how well it takes advantage of your CPU for anyone with a decent rig. He only has 512mb of VRAM but that is more than adequate for QTP3. @tc: Drop the distant land mods. You only have 512mb of VRAM...if you want LODs that match Qarl's, use this instead. I'd recommend just grabbing the 512's, though you might be able to pull the 1024's.
  18. Delete your data folder and delete the Fallout 3 folder in \my games\ as well. Revalidate your files on Steam. That's the only thing that I can think of that would fix it, even if you already did it.
  19. use FOMM to redate Fallout3.esm so that it's older than the DLC esm's. that might fix it.
  20. Why are you trying to open the ESP? Just drop it (and the other files) into the data dir.
  21. That post was a bit hard to understand. D: You don't open up the ESP file, you drop the ESP file in the data folder and then enable it in the launcher or the mod manager.
  22. When buying nvidia cards, stick to EVGA, MSI and Asus. For ATi/AMD, you should stick to MSI and ASUS. There's not much (any) difference between boardpartners when your going for a reference card aside from warranty. If your going for a non-reference card, you should be a bit more careful because some companies like XFX use mediocre components in their non-reference cards. The 560 Ti is a great deal if you can get it for under $250. Not really worth it to go for any AMD cards this generation - nVidia beats them out in the mid and high end price brackets.
  23. so you deleted all of the mods and reinstalled? could be your oblivion.ini... back it up and then delete it. the game will recreate it. if you just disabled them, delete them and reinstall the game again.
