  1. Once you have opened a lock, the game keeps track of that and if you open the same lock some time in the future you don't get any lock picking skill credit. I'm at a point in my game where I have opened every lock in the game at least once except for some houses I haven't broken in to. So I can't raise my lock picking skill except through training.

Does anybody know of a mod or any way to reset those lock parameters so that I can get lock picking skill credit when I open a lock that I have opened before?

  2. Never thought of that Jimmy. I should be able to download Chrome. I shouldn't have the same problem logging in through Chrome. But Microsoft does have control where you log in to, when you are using a program they wrote and control to log into a web site. Note what I wrote about logging into Nexus on my Xbox. I played enough dirty tricks when I was working on mainframes that I know it can be done'

I guess it's possible that my security is somehow interfering with sending my logon ID to Nexus, but I never had that problem before Microsoft's last update. But I'll check the anti-virus settings if I can find them.

My auto-login isn't working. It has stopped saving my login info. I deleted the login info for Nexus. For some reason I was now able to log into Nexus, bit it never re-saved the login info.

  3. Nobody on Nexus could give me a solution. I did find a solution to this problem though and I want to pass it on in case you ever have this problem. First I want to credit a good friend on the Bethesda forums for giving me this: SailorM24. First take your horse to wherever you want to leave it and then summon Arvak, the ghost horse from the soul Cairn. That will break your horses tie to you.

  4. I assume that you can all read between the lines here. It would appear that Microsoft is once again abusing their market position and is going to put Nexus out of business. Microsoft has a long history of doing that to companies they don't want to compete with

  5. I posted this in a more appropriate location, but after a day nobody has read it. I think this is an extremely important notice.

I've spent the last several years playing Skyrim and Fallout 4 on an Xbox, that is until my Xbox X could no longer handle the game and the mods I had and was crashing at least once every half hour. Moving to a gaming PC has been a challenge. First off half of my favorite Xbox mods don't have a PC counterpart, so I've had to find PC mods that do the same thing. In doing that I discovered the world of adult content mods. I tried to put a couple of those mods on my Xbox. In so doing I stumbled upon a closely guarded Microsoft corporate secret. Microsoft has programed their alpha input utility to not send a logon ID to the Nexus web cite. They are preventing any of these adult content mods, or any Nexus mods for that matter, from being loaded onto an Xbox.

At first I assumed that their program just didn't work and tried to go through their help system. After half a dozen questions to narrow down my help request it came down to Microsoft refusing to take questions on the subject. So I then went to their forum. I was surprised at how fast Microsoft got back to me. The responder left no doubt that it was not a bug in their input utility, The alpha input utility was not sending my logon ID to Nexus on purpose. Minutes after I pointed out that the response I received was a clear admission that they were doing that on purpose, the moderator locked that thread.

I don't have a problem with not being able to load Nexus mods onto my Xbox. I do have a problem with what happened today.. Today I loaded a new update to Windows 10 on my gaming computer. Now the exact same thing is happening with my gaming computer. My login ID is not being sent to the Nexus site. I can no longer login to Nexus on my gaming computer. I tried to uninstall this Windows 10 update but it is one of those that Microsoft won't allow us to uninstall.

Is anybody else having this problem?

  7. My hunch is that your both right. I've been watching it with those comments in mind and I think that my question has been answered. I've also gotten sneak level ups when I have been sneaking around NPCs that are non hostile and wouldn't attack if they knew I was there.

  8. I tried to clean a deer that was underneath a horse's hooves and accidently touched the horse. Now that horse is following me everywhere. Bethesda did a poor job when they put horses in the game and never put in any way to get rid of them.

I looked at a couple of horse mods, Immersive horses for example, that says that it will let me dismiss a horse. But I don't want to add a big mod and all of the supporting mods it requires just so I can get rid of a horse that keeps following me. Horse mods go well beyond the scope of what I need. Since this horse comes from a mod, I can't kill it.

    Any Ideas?

  9. I understand the basics of the sneak skill. But there is this one practice of mine where I am getting several sneak skill level ups when by my understanding of the skill I shouldn't be getting any. Maybe someone on the Skyrim forums can explain what I'm missing.

The fastest way I've found to level up is to conjure an expert level atronach as fast as my system will do it, preferably a Dremora Lord. I have a favorite place for doing that when I need some level ups to get more training in other skills.

On the West side of the Dawnguard Valley there is a small cave, the Mossy Glen Cave. Inside there are four bears. On the West side of the cave there are ledges you can climb up on that the bears never go up on. I'll put on a Super Sneak Ring so the bears never know that I'm there. My Super Sneak Ring is a cheat ring I make with a sneak skill of around 2500. I'll climb up on the middle ledge by the two chests and cast Dremora Lords on the cave floor below, fast enough that the Dremora Lords don't have a chance to kill the bears. Doing that I'll fully level up my character twice in less than five minutes.

This is what I don't understand. I don't move at all, I stand in the same spot. I don't kill anything, I go out of my way to avoid killing the bears. But my sneak skill will level up between six and a dozen times depending on the skill's starting level. By my understanding of the sneak skill you have to be actually sneaking or moving, not just crouched in the sneak position. And to get a sneak bump you have to kill something.

Can someone please correct what I don't understand about the sneak skill?

  10. I really appreciate your responce Striker. You have been most helpful. It doesn't make sence to me that Skyrim and Skyrim SE would have separate mod Forums but I'll keep that in mind in the future. That is one of the reasons that Nexus is overly complicated and those managing the forums spend their time criticizing and making excuses and are of very little help.

Anyway I've found the answer to my problem so we can call this issue solved.

  11. Starting at "The Nexus Forums" page I found "Skyrim sub Forums" under the "Nexus Sites" Item. Under Skyrim modding there is Mod talk, Mod troubleshooting, and Mod Requests. Are you referring to one of them when you said "the mod's page", because like I said there is no Forums tab on these Wenches mods.

If I'm in the Skyrim Mod Talk screen for example and I do a search for Wolfskull cave, what is that search going to look at? Will it look at the Wenches Mods or just the stuff under Mod Talk?

Including Striker's comments, if I go to the Deadly Wenches mod, then to Posts, then to Forum Thread, I do a search for Wolfskull Cave. When that comes up dry I then post my question as a new topic. But where do I post it? The Nexus Forum for Deadly Wenches doesn't have a "New Topic" button. The Posts Page has a place to add comments, but that doesn't sound right.

  12. I didn't post it under Newbies. I remember what you told be a couple of weeks ago. I don't know how it got there. I tried to ask my question through a "Forums" tab for Immersive Wenches, but there is none. Since neither Immersive Wenches or Deadly wenches has a forums tab for asking mod questions perhaps you could point me to where I should have ask this question. I'm still learning my way around.

You were a big help in telling me about the console command "getskseversion", but you were dead wrong in suggesting I had overlooked something in installing the Script Extender and SkyUI. The problem turned out to be Vortex itself. Once I threw Vortex out the window and replaced it with MO2, the Script Extender and SkyUI are work perfectly.

  13. The mod Immersive Wenches changes a lot of things in the game. Going into wolfskull cave the drougr and skeletons have been replaced by wenches. The problem I've run into is that the hole you used to drop down through to enter the inner chamber is now sealed over by a rock like slab. I cant find any way to open, or get through this slab. I can't find any levers to open it. There is a small hole in the middle of the slab that looks like something could be put into it, but nothing I've picked up will go into it.

Does anybody know how to proceed here?

  14. It is good to hear from you again my friend.

I installed MO2 as you suggested. Vortex told me to unlink Vortex from my load list and relink it to MO2. I unlinked my list from vortex but I couldn't find the equivalent option in MO2 to link it to my load list. Could you tell me where that is?

This part gets a little craze. When I started the game again, this time through MO2, SkyUI gave me the usual error message that the script extender wasn't found and that SkyUI was disabled. I used that console command again to check my script extender and this time it confirmed that the script extender wasn't working. But now in the game I'm getting the inventory screens that SkyUI does. SkyUI is now working. Weird!

And the console still says that the extender isn't working. Checking my mods, SkyUI has been reactivated.

Maybe you can make some sense of that. I can't.

  15. I installed NMM. GitHub wouldn't let me create an account. It wouldn't accept any password I entered. I can't update NMM to the latest version.

I think we are done here. Thanks, you have been a big help.

  16. The developers console is a way to get at the core of the game through developer's commands and it opens when hitting the 'Tilde' key (the key left of the '1' key underneath 'Esc' or the key right of the 'L' key (which is the 'M' on an Azerty keyboard. I'm used to Azerty but my G19 keyboard gave the ghost and I bought a Querty one on eBay and then set it to 'Belgium' to use Azerty which is highly confusing as some games -like FO4- don't care about the setting and use the Querty setting since that's what the game recognises. On my Querty used as Azerty but seen as Querty, the console key is the one to the right of the 'L' key where it used to be the one left of '1')).

And yes, there's a pair of 'se' too many in your example. It's getskseversion.

The console is nothing fancy, just a blinking cursor bottom left of the screen in a mildly blurry see-through overlay that covers the bottom half of the screen. Make sure you open the game's ini file (at Documents/My Games/Fallout4) has the bAllowConsole= set to '1' under [General]. If it's '0' then the console is disabled. Not Fallout4Custom.ini or Fallout4Prefs.ini but simply Fallout4.ini.

LOL. That worked. It showed me the correct SKSE version number. So the script extender is working and SkyUI just isn't finding it. I don't think there is anything I can do about that. Vortex installed the two SkyUI files in the correct folder. I'll just have to live without it.

  17. I admit I missed that sticky. :ermm: Your glasses probably work better than mine do :geek: It is hard for me to read anything.

I'm playing SkyrimSE. You mean the tab labeled "Forum" on the mods page, That will be a lot easier. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with opening the game's console. How do I do that? Since I'm playing SkyrimSE I would type "getskseseversion". Am I putting to many "se" in there?

A few times it has alerted me to a version mismatch but it usually just tells me, when it gives me a notification, that the extender isn't working.

That console command sounds promising. By opening the game's console I take it your not referring to the "Type here to search" window on the task bar.

    Thanks for your responce.

  18. I have waisted litterly hundreds of hours trying to get SkyUI to work. So many mods require SkyUI that I keep trying to get it to work. It tells me that it won't run because it can't find the script extender. I'm certain that the script extender is loaded correctly having check and rechecked the load instructions several dozen times. So please don't refer me to the Script Extender load instructions. By now I know them by heart.

From some comments I Googled I understand that there is a version number mismatch between whatever SkyUI is looking for and the latest Script Extender version number. I have no Idea what SkyUI looks at to determine if the Script Extender is running.

Other than SkyUI, I don't know of any way to verify that the script extender is actually working. My question is this, are there some other ways to verify that the script extender is working?

  19. Ok I meant Vortex. But you did say that Steam needed to be running when I load the game.

In Vortex, is disabling a mod and then re-enabling it the same as deleting the mod and reinstalling it?

Or I can remove the mods but leave them archived and then reinstall them from the archive. I take it that is what I need to do.

When I uninstalled the Script Extender it disappeared from my list of mods without leaving me an archive, so I copied the Extender dll into Vortex from the SktrimSE folder and installed that. I see that all of my Extender scripts were deleted from the data folder when I deleted the extender, so I copied all of them back to the Data folder from the new data folder you had me make.

I think I'm ready to start the game.

I've started to check out changes.

The first thing I noticed is that SkyUI still isn't working. Again it was disabled on starting the game, so I enabled it. The first time I checked my inventory I got a series of error messages about incompatible files. These files do not come with SKYUI. The only one I wrote down is InventoryMenu.swf. I tried three times to load an older game save but each time the game crashed. On searching my SkyrimSE directory I have no *.swf files.

I didn't see any changes to my Flower Girls mod when interacting with NPCs. That mod

is still broken. I did also reinstall that mod after reinstalling the script extender.

When I tried to fast travel to where some ore node are, to check out my mining mods and see if they work any differently, the game crashed. But they need the SkyUI mod to work, so my mining mods still won't work. Every time I've tried to do something that causes a game save, the game crashes.

It seems like the harder I try to get everything working, the deeper I get in a hole.

I'm afraid that I've gotten Vortex so screwed up with all the mods I've loaded, played around with un-installed etc. that I'm considering using windows to uninstall Vortex and start over, if that would work.

But anyway, you have been a champion and I thank you again for your help.

  20. I really appreciate your responce friend. It is good to hear from someone who knows what they are doing.

Since this is all very new to me, let me double check that I understand what we are doing and why we are doing it.

I take it that it is OK to have more than one Data folder as long as Steam knows where it find it. That is why we are

going to drop this new folder into the Steam load window.

First problem. I can't create a new "Data" folder. I have to give it a different name but Steam will learn the new name when

I drop it into Steam. So I created a new folder Data_SE and loaded the extender scripts into it, then archived it.

Skse64_loader.exe also disables SkyUI when I launched it, but that could be because Steam doesn't know where to find those files since my moving and dropping files happened after I loaded the mod into Steam.

Since you didn't say anything about my current location of my SkyUI files, I take it that it is OK to leave them where they are in the Data file.

And RaceMenu requires the version of Extender that I have. I don't know where to find what game version it supports, but I recently installed the latest version of the game, so I'm probably good.

I'm going to wait to hear back from you before I drop this new folder into Steam.

    Once again Thanks for responding.

  21. SKSE is installed on my system and is in the SkyrimSE root drectory, as I pointed out. Should the file be loaded in a different folder? I just used the Skse64_loader.exe to start the game and the above mentioned error message didn't come up. I still have a problem though. Even starting the game as I did My SkyUI mod became disabled. Going into my mods and reactivating it, does not reactivate it. It is not working in the game. I also installed SkyUI through Vortex and the SkyUI.esp and SkyUI.bsa files are both in the SkyrimSE data file. Also the SkyUI mod is active in Vortex. What else could cause SkyUI to fail to start?

  22. I should have mentioned this on the other thread where we installed the script extender. I'm brand new to PC gaming. I've had my console less than a month. Moving files to directories in order to run a game is completely new to me. I still have a lot to learn as far as terminology, where things go, etc, etc. I appologize for my screw ups and misunderstandings as well as those that I have yet to make. So I'd appreciate it if you would cut me a little slack.

One of the first mods I Loaded seemed to work ok, but then it stopped working altogether. On checking the Nexus description I noticed that it requires some dependent mods. I loaded them and when I started the game I got this weird error message. I'm not sure I know what the message means and I definitely don't know how to deal with it. But this problem might be the cause of a lot of other issues I'm having. For example while I'm quite sure that SkyUI is installed correctly it is still not working.

The error message said: Race Menu Errors: Your Running SKSE Version 0.0.0.0, Expected 2.0.7.56 or greater. SKSE script version mismatch detected. (64) Please reinstall your SKSE scripts to match your version. NiOverride plugin not detected.

But SKSE64_1_5_97.dll is sitting in the SkyrimSE root directory. It doesn't appear that this mod is finding it.

  23. The Nexus Mod screen uses the phrase "Manual Download" which is why I used the word "Manually". That doesn't mean the same as by hand.

In spite of all of your sarcasm and insults, you have been of some help. I have to give you credit and thanks for that even if it didn't work out in the end.

I wished you could have given me some info on this "Hardwork Skill". That was the last hurdle I needed to cross, but I don't expect you to know all the mods that well.

So have a good day and thanks again for your effort.

  24. I never said I installed it three times by hand. You have assumed something I didn't say. I did the Manual download and then dragged the manual download into vortex, and yes three times, as I told you a long time ago. I also told you that the second and third I dragged it into Vortex, vortex said that the file had already been loaded. There was no reason for you to get so ignorant.

And yes I installed the SKSE64 version.

As far as not following your instructions, your beginning to sound like another Brit that instead of offering help, simply makes excuses you why your stuff doesn't work.

Anyway. I have wasted far too much time trying to get these two mods to work. I'm throwing them out and going back to my Bethesda mod that does work

  25. I went back through the installation process and made sure the exe and dll files and all of the pex files were where they are supposed to be. Then I started the program using the SKSE_loader.exe. Again SkyUI was disabled on running it. So I re-enabled it and continued with running the program.

As far as I know the script extender and SkyUI are working, However I'm still not getting any ore from the mining mods. I'm getting Gems from gem nodes and lots of Clay and Quarry Stones but with regular ore nodes, it quickly tells me the vain is depleted without giving me anything. The mod author mentioned that the amount of ore you get is related to your "Hard Work" skill, but there is no "Hard Work" skill.

So while we have verified that the script extender was installed correctly, SkyUI might not have installed correctly. That is another one I let Vortex install. Putting SkyUI_.esp & SkyUI_bsa in the main Skyrim file didn't make any difference.
