  1. Crashing with no apparent reason is, unfortunately, just part of modded oblivion. Oblivion is notorious for not dealing with memory very well, and this is the root of may types of crashes. You have not given any details on where or how you crash, but my guess is that the graphics mods you have installed, like All Natural, are too much for oblivion to handle. I had once installed Quarl's texture packs, along with several mods around the imperial isle, and as a result could not venture anywhere near it. I eventually uninstalled most of Quarl's texture packs. The other common cause of crashes is simply too many actors present, but there is really no way of pinpointing it. There are a couple of things that can help. 1. A mod called Purge Cell Buffers attempts to help oblivion deal with it's memory issues by clearing the cache. 2. A mod called Streamline also attempts to help. One of the ways it helps is, unfortunately, to restrict the distance you can see things, which defeats the whole point of your graphic mods. 3. Turn view distant land off (Again, defeats the purpose of mods, but I have found that with my mod list, I simply cannot have this enabled). 4. Walk, don't run. This gives oblivion a little more time to load and unload regions. 5. Save EVERY time you open a door, especially when leaving an interior cell.
  2. The Yellow "!" signs only appear when world meshes are missing, not when the meshes for worn items are missing. When worn items are missing, you get the invisible body parts. You are missing meshes, guaranteed.
  3. It sounds like you have a mod conflict. look up the mod BOSS and use that as a guide.
  4. The most likely cause of the type of crashes you are describing is missing textures. Missing textures are, supposedly, just supposed to show up as an ugly pink color in the game, but experience has taught me that this is not always the case. Sometimes, missing textures actually crash the game. Since you are describing missing textures, that is almost certainly your problem. Go back and make sure the mod is installed completely and properly.
  5. Random crashes are most commonly caused by memory issues, usually where there are lots of actors, or, judging from your load order, I would say because of the intensity of your graphic mods. This got so bad for me that I had to uninstall most of the Qarl's replacers. There are a couple of things you can try, but realize that with modded Oblivion you will Never completely eliminate random crashes. First, there are a couple of performance mods out there, such as streamline and purge cell buffers. Definitely try one or both. Then, you can try disabling the "view distant land" option. That was the most difficult for me to actually bit the bullet and do, because it takes away from the beauty of the world... but is better than crashing. Finally, walk. Don't run, and don't ride a horse. Move more slowly when outdoors so that Oblivion can catch up. For me, there got to be some areas that were so crash-prone that I simply had to avoid them, but that is because of the extra creatures of FCOM, which you may or may not be running into with your load order. I have not tried all the mods you have installed yet...
  6. The issue is not a mod conflict. I'm sorry, I should have mentioned that. I have not changed the mod list in months. I entered the Shivering Isle, and the game has not been the same since. If it was a mod conflict or some such thing, I would have expected that loading from a saved game before I went to the Isles would have solved the issue. Instead, I end up in the Tiber Septim Hotel. Something has gone corrupt. Any ideas what it could be?
  7. Invisible body parts as seen in your screen shots mean that you are missing meshes. I'm not familiar with the Oblivion Character Overhaul, but that might be the culprit. There is not much else in your list that might be causing the problem. Try disabling mods one at a time until the mage clothing appears again, then go back to that mod and make sure all the meshes are installed properly. Sometimes there are patches to mods you have downloaded because the author forgot to include something in one of the releases.
  8. Make sure that you have not installed Oblivion to its default path of "c:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion" and make sure you are running the game as an administrator. I once saw a mod install some xml files in some subfolder of the data folder that, until found and manually deleted, would continually crash the game. When you uninstalled and reinstalled, did you delete the oblivion and data folders? Are you using any and texture mods, these can play havoc with some machines. I had once tried Quarl's, but it slowed the game to a crawl and caused all kinds of crashing problems. How, exactly, does it crash? If it just crashes without announcement, then that is typically because of memory issues. There are several mods that attempt to help with that. Presumably you have tried with a totally vanilla game... no mods whatsoever. Does it still crash?
  9. I have been playing and modding oblivion for a Very long time, and I have never seen anything like this. I had been playing in the Shivering Isles, but have subsequently loaded previous saves before entering the isles and am having the same problem. I cannot enter the Tamriel Worldspace. I can enter other worldspaces, like all of the IC districts, the Isles, plus other modded worldspaces, but whenever I try to enter any point in Tamriel, I get the "You cannot go this way, turn back." message that teleports me right back from wherever I try to enter. I tried deleting the Oblivion.ini file and have it regenerate, but that did not solve the problem. I also tried searching for similar problems, but he usability of the search function seems to have degraded a bit since I last tried using it. Now, when loading any saved game out in Tamriel, I am teleported to the Tiber Septim hotel, where Oblivion always puts you when it gets really confused, and then the cycle starts over again. I can enter any district, but when I try to fast travel, or use any of the doors leading to the Imperial Isle, I get the same message and am teleported back to wherever I came from. Does anybody have any idea how I even begin troubleshooting this?
  10. I got the links from the Nexus Site itself. For instance, the Paladin mod came from the Files of the Month contest. The HGEC and UOP came from "Top Files" and "Most Downloaded." When I remove the "platform." from the links, I am able to download files. Thank you.
  11. There have been a few causing the error, but not all, so it is confusing. These I know specfically generate errors: http://platform.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=41095 http://platform.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15802 http://platform.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28977# http://platform.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296 These do not cause the error; I can download these just fine: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36673 http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29808 http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25023 All of these were attempted during the same login session. I can reliably duplicate either situation on these pages.
  12. I receive the following error message when attempting to download from some pages: Warning: mysql_num_rows() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in /home/platform/public_html/includes/sdk/index.php on line 164 No member with that ID This does not happen on all of them, however, I am able to download some things.
  13. This is going to depend very heavily on the mods you use. Replaces like the one you indicated typically replace stock items, but chances are the armor you are seeing that is not done by this mod is not actualy vanilla, but from yet another mod. It gets complicated. Probably the best way to get to the bottom of it is with something like FormIDfinder that will tell you which mod the armor is coming from. But, it is not perfect. In the end, this will probably depend on load order, and the mods you use. FormID Finder http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16704
  14. Yellow diamonds mean that you are missing Meshes. These will have come in your download. Oblivion is VERY picky that these be in exactly the right spot. Examine all the files that came in your download and copy them to the exact same locations in your Oblivion\Data folder.
  15. There is a known conflict between this quest and the Elven Maiden Thieves' Guild Quest, the one where you are asked to steal the bust from Cheydenhal. You cannot have both of these at once. Wait until after you have gotten back with the bust to go on an Unexpected Voyage.
  16. I am getting an error generated by the CS when I open a mod. "Unable to find Previous Topic XXX from Topic XXX. The "Previous Topic" field is not even visible in the CS, but is visible in Tes4edit. Thus far, I have been unable to fix the issue using Tes4edit because it generates an Assertion Error while saving. So, my question is, Are these sequential links important? If I open in the CS and then save, it sets the Previous Topic to a NULL Reference. Will that cause any harm if I just do that?
  17. You don't need to; you should leave them like they are. Make sure they have exactly the same name as the mods they go with. Theoretically BSA Files are supposed to become active when an ".esp" of exactly the same name is activated, but that does not always seem to be the case. You can manually "Register" your .bas files by editing the Oblivion.ini file located in your Oblivion Saved Games folder. Put it at the end of the line that starts with "SArchiveList=Oblivion - Meshes.bsa," add a comma to the end, then add mmm.bsa So, it would look like this: SArchiveList=Oblivion - Meshes.bsa, <a whole bunch of files>.bsa, mmm.bsa (or FraNewItems.bas, or whatever.bsa) You can string them together separated by commas. All of your .bas files should be registered If you want to see them in the CS, you need to do the same in the ConstructionSet.ini file.
  18. OOO conflicts with several areas. I have not been around evrywhere with UL installed, but I know specifically that there are several areas around the IC Waterfront. I don't know if this is the area you are talking about, but I am not aware of any patch for OOO/Imperieal Isles. I ended up patching it myself. OOO changes more landscape than you think; it is all over the place; many of the important dungeons from OOO are new.
  19. This happens when people are new to Nifscope and don't realize how to NOT do this. Fixing it for one item is easy, but will be tedious if there are a lot of them. Double-click on the path of the texture. This activates it so that you can edit it. Navigating the text region when the entire text is selected is quirky in Nifscope and takes some getting used to. I always just immediately click somewhere so the whole thing is not selected. You'll probably see what I mean :) All you have to do is delete the beginning portion of the texture path up to the "t" in textures. Like this textures\characters\dki... There is no "save" in Nifscope, and it wil NOT prompt you to save if you try to quit. You must always "Save As..." and overwrite the old file with the new one.
  20. The GameMode Block will run every 5 seonds or so; this does actually function as a While Loop, but you definitely need to build an exit strategy because the while loop will keep running forever. However, this should be suitable for most things.
  21. You can use this mod to tell you exactly where he is from. It requires OBSE. FormID Finder http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16704
  22. You can reset your LOD yourself with Tes4LODgen. I use this pretty much after any change, adding or removing mods. Tes4LODgen http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15781
  23. Yes. The mod you are editing requires COBL; that does not change.
  24. Before you can "SetOwnership" you have to select something to SetOwnership ON. It is much easier to do this in 1st person, but can also be done in 3rd person with a lot of patience and effort. Go into the console mode with the "~" key. While in console mode, click on the chest. You know when you do this because the item's ID will appear at the top of the screen. Once you have the item selected, THEN type SetOwnership. I apologize for not being clear about this from the start.
