Here is a great tutorial for 3ds max to get you started. It's in fact the only "3ds max tutorial" I've ever needed (well, that I can remember at least): http://www.3dtotal.com/index_tutorial_detailed.php?roPos=1&catDisplay=1&id=1344 It describes how to make head, body and armor all the way from scratch, and is very detailed in it's steps.

people werent mad about it wasnt a happy ending it was about it. Good summary.

New hands-on preview: The pawn system looks really interesting, where you can "share" your own companions with others and let them return with rewards. What kind of rewards? Experience, and with that I don't mean "experience points": Instead they remember what kind of quests they have done before while being used by other players. So if you for example encounter a new monster for the first time, chances are that one of your companions have already defeated one of the same kind before while being in another player's party, and can give you advice on its weaknesses.

Once again, READ THE README OF THE MOD YOU ARE INSTALLING :teehee: From the Mod's description: And in the image section of the mod you find this pic: http://static.skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/images/15529-5-1334921116.jpg Notice the arrow pointing towards a chest?

Well, first you start here to download the Nexus Mod Manager: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/460588-start-here/ And after that you can download and install mods by browsing skyrimnexus.com and clicking the green "download with manager" button. After the manager has downloaded the mod, you activate it (in the mod manager). Also remember to always read the readme of each mod you install.

"Fallout New Vegas has stopped working"
amycus replied to egorgeg's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
If you are using the NMM, can't you just deinstall the mods you recently installed? it might just be a mod conflict, or you might have missed that one of the mods you recently installed required a more complicated installation process to work properly? -
I was surprised to see that no one seems to have made a topic of this yet (couldn't find anything while searching at least), but here is a video for those of you who havn't heard of this game before: Usually I don't really care much about petitions, but after the recent success of the "Dark souls for PC" petition, and CAPCOM's recent statement Dragon's Dogma PC Version Possible if PC Users Are Vocal Enough, I thought I would make this topic in hope to persuade others interested to sign the current petition: http://petitionbureau.org/dragonsdogmaforpc Even same-sex romances has been confirmed XD (I think they have taken a peek on Dragon age, among other games).

Hi I just tried to update a mod on dragonagenexus like usual, but got the message "The file you uploaded was not one of the accepted file types for this upload.". And when I look at the supported file types it only shows: "File (.zip, .rar, .7z, .exe, .omod only, 5GB (5120MB) file size limit)". I know that .dazips were supported before...

There is a mod that adds a NPC to the very start that will let you skip the very first chapter if you talk with him, while gaining all the loot and experience immediately. Kinda how the "skip the fade" mod for DA:O worked. Of course, it probably won't work in the "enhanced" ediition. And on topic, I missed all the good "classics" while they were still new, so I only started BG1 and BG2 2009 - and absolutely loved it. Right now I'm playing fallout 2 and having a blast. Only thing that makes it a bit hard to get into these old games is the lack of voice overs - if the "enhanced editions" will just make the voice overs a bit more frequent, then that would be enough to make it a day 1 purchase for me.

My experience is that the "modding activity" declines right after a new game has arrived (that is on the nexus), but the activity of these "older" nexus sites regain some activity again after a month or two.

Neverwinter Nights complete (both games and all expansions) available

I don't think that they have "NWN2: mysteries of westgate" on steam either though... -
Hi. I once downloaded a mod here on the nexus called "Just morphs - 224 character morphs and 219 presets" by petehog, but now when I'm looking for it I can't find it. Does anyone know if he still has this mod uploaded somewhere? (I have tried to look on Biowares own project page, but it's almost impossible to navigate there for me). Here is a link to the original, old endorsement thread for this mod when it was uploaded here before: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/356305-just-morphs-224-character-morphs-and-219-presets-endorsements/ Otherwise, anyone who knows if there is any mod to get the eyeshadow of your character like this? And where the hairstyle is from? http://i41.tinypic.com/wr1gkp.jpg

Forgot to mention. To get the hang of it, I just want to make retex for the moment. You know, just to get the hang of it. In the link you forwarded there was talk of Photoshop, do I need it? Yes, I forgot to mention this: You need EITHER photoshop OR Gimp with a .dds plugin (gimp is free, photoshop is not). You need gimp or photoshop to make or edit textures, and you need the .dds plugins to them since this is the image file format that games use. So instead of saving an image as a .jpg or .gif, you save it as a .dds. If you ONLY want to retexture exisitng items, then its easier to just use this: http://social.bioware.com/project/41/ (you will still need photoshop or gimp to edit .dds files though)
-
Not sure in what stage you are currently in (extracting the DA:O resources with the toolset?), but this thread can hopefully help you: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/8/index/699210/1 Personally I didn't care about extracting the .dds files. You only need them if you want to make certain changes to already existing armors. Otherwise it just takes space on your computer. As for 3ds max, they do ask you to name your school, but they will also offer the alternative "homeschooling". The only negative thing is that you "only" get a 3-year licence for it, so one might just see it as an extended trial period.
-
Well, what you are basically describing is modelling. Pure and simple. I have so far made one custom armor from scratch fro DA:O, so I can try to give you some pointers. If you want to make completely new custom armor, not a simple retexture of already existing items, then you need a 3d editing software. Blender and 3ds max are the most common ones. Blender is always free, while 3ds max is only free if you are a student. Personally I'm using 3ds max. If you are not a student, you also have the alternative of getting gmax (which is basically a very old and simpler version of 3ds max. It does the job though, and its always free). Blender is a bit less user-friendly than 3ds max, but on the other hand there are usually more tutorials available for Blender. Then you need to download an export/export script for the 3d editing software you are using. If you decide to use blender: http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=268 If you decide to use 3ds max or gmax: http://social.bioware.com/project/2336/ make sure to read the belonging .pdf And here is a link you might find useful: The topic I made when I first started out and had no idea how to make custom armor. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/313360-custom-armor/ I highly siggest you check it out. Contains some video tutorials as well. That should get you started. Let me know if you have any questions (might not be of much more help if you decide to use blender though. Not too used with that).

True enough. We even got horse armor first for skyrim ;) FOR FREE!!

you go to skyrimnexus, then from the menu, images-->Add an image.

Unless they have changed it since I looked at it, it seems like they receive the rights to do whatever they want with any new resources you upload like meshes and textures. You still have the right to use and change them as you wish and credit your work in your own name, however they can then reuse your work for what they want without mentioning your name. That's what I remember about it, but you should probably read the workshop's ToS yourself and make your own interpretation. EDIT: here, from their terms of service. Note that they may identify you as the original maker... This means that they could theoretically port any uploaded armor mod there, and port it to the consoles as a paid DLC. Of course, you, the maker, won't receive a cent. BTW, I bought "from dust" when it was on a 75% sale, and they seem to have changed the heavy DRM. Unfortunately, the game itself is pretty but boring. You are better of playing an old game like "black & white 2". Much better gameplay with only slightly worse graphics.

um, am I suddenly blackmailing because I don't want to buy any more games from a company (not to mention that people aren't telling thee writers to suddenly do the popular indoctrination theory official, just changed from what they currently got)? And here I thought that was my own choice as a customer... I actually didn't get ME3 at all because I was already tired from their BS from DA2 that also had a single ending filled with plot holes where choices didn't matter, plus the game requiring origins (and yes, I will complain about origin's ToS). Is that blackmailing me blackmailing Bioware now? Of course it is a bit funny that there has been such a debate about the ME3 ending when DA2 had the exact same problems. Only difference I can find between the two cases is that the whole DA2 game was a miserable mess, while people seem to agree that ME3 was really good aside from the ending. And its not the amount of problems one has with a certain DRM, but what kind. Origins has a really intrusive TeS, and some people (though it fortunately works fine for me) have problems getting steam to work at all. I don't have any major complaints about GFWL, only that it slows up the start-up of a game, and that's not enough to change my mind about a purchase. BTW, some mod authors don't want to upload their mods to the steam workshop because of their ToS (they suddenly own everything you upload there). Are they "blackmailing" Steam too? EDIT: Here are not 3, but 10 reasons the ME3 ending was hated. Those who have actually played the game obviously knows it better than me who just watched the final cutscene instead of playing the full game: Seems pretty valid points to me though.

I would just like to ask the following: Has anyone figured out how to add new races? (DA:O). I assume that there is one or two .GDAs I need to edit, but I can't find any containing information about races... Appreciate any help on the subject.

Need some help with uploading my file to the SkyrimNexus
amycus replied to ABVXYzackattack's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
You use the same code as here on the forums. So just look here: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?&app=forums&module=extras§ion=legends&do=bbcode Basically it means that you can just write your whole presentation in the reply section below here, and then copy paste it all to your description. EDIT: You do know how to add images in the forums, right? [ img ] insertimageurlhere [ /img ] <-- same code will work in your description (remove spaces) -
isnt that how they have always handled it (bethesda)?
-
I don't know about the other cases, but I can understand that people were really unhappy about the ME3 ending. I don't even have the game (since I don't like the origin requirement), but I have followed the topic on youtube. Its not just because the ending is bad or has several plotholes (otherwise I would have demanded a proper ending for DA2, NWN2 and KOTOR 2), but because of how Bioware stated that there would be 16 endings - and people got 1 with 3 colour variations. Add to the fact that people already had complained about the lack of choices in DA2 and, well... Personally I don't really care too much about it, but I do understand the players rage of the ending.

There is one. But... Really people? Honestly, sometimes you make me want to cry. GFWL is not really that bad, and everyone who signs that petition is just asking FROM to cancel the game. They almost certainly have a deal with Microsoft for a PC release by now, so they probably can't just switch it, and every signature added to that new petition makes it less likely that FROM will consider the game financially viable. Now I have to worry if they'll even make the PC release. If I hadn't been followng FROM for the last decade, through King's Field, I'd be very worried. As it stands, FROM is a very good company in terms of how well they respond to their fans. Hopefully we haven't pushed too hard this time, with this second BS petition that's basically asking them to give up on the whole port thing. Seriously? and here I was kidding  Although I don't like GFWL and is a bit dissapointed by this, I already own several other games that requires it, and the only real problem I have with it is that it slows down the startup of the game. I signed the petition of buying a PC release of the game, and that's what I will do. The amount of sales will also likely determine whether they will port any of their future titles for PC as well. I don't like GFWL, but its certainly not a dealbreaker for me.

we need a new petition to get rid of the GFWL now...
