  1. For some reason, launching the game through Mod Organizer 2 makes the game windowed, but through Steam, it's in fullscreen. I currently do not have the graphics card to support my monitor's resolution, so I'm trying smaller resolutions, but none of them play in fullscreen. Am I stuck playing the game windowed?
  2. Bumping this since this needs to become common knowledge. I haven't played the game for a few months and was close to giving up on modding it because I was so sick of troubleshooting crashing, freezing, etc not because they were happening on my setup, but because everytime I got sent out of the game, I'd have to wait 10-15 minutes just to get to the main menu. After I saw the numerous positive responses to your post, I had to give it a try.Took about 2-3 minutes for the menu to appear, same as my heavily modded SE. Thank you for sharing this. You've made Fallout 4 relevant for me again.
  3. How is this mod going? The prologue released almost 3 years ago hasn't been updated in that amount of time, yet the mod author has turned around and released multiple other mods afterwards that seem to be going well, including yet another custom-voiced follower, another Interesting NPCs-esque mod, a mod to improve the immersion of player dialogue, and even a very interesting new questline about a plague. I can't tell if it was abandoned or intended to be this way.
  4. Bah. I give up. Instead, I'll opt for a Drow-ish color. Hopefully in future Bethesda games, creating any skin color you want will come more easily.
  5. Hmmm. The body mod I use, SAM, has MULTIPLE male body textures. So I'm not entirely sure which one to retexture. Maybe trying just one body texture will do it.
  6. I've found a tutorial for making my own tattoo. See here: "Pick a UV map to work from. Basically, that means finding the skin texture from your favorite body mod. Personally, I use the UNP UV map. Copy the skin texture into an image editor that supports layers (such as Photoshop or GIMP)Select the color #444544. That color will be replaced by the user's chosen color when the tattoo is applied. All other colors will be displayed normally. On a layer above the skin texture, draw your tattoo. Leave the layer background transparent.Save just the tattoo layer (NOT the skin texture) as a DDS file with a transparent background.Create a folder called Textures\Actors\Character\slavetats\yourthing somewhere (not actually inside Skyrim's Data folder, yet. Just on the desktop is fine)Place your DDS file into Textures\Actors\Character\slavetats\yourthingCreate a text file called Textures\Actors\Character\slavetats\yourthing.json containing a tattoo registry for that DDS file (we'll cover that shortly)Add the Textures folder to a .zip or .7z file" Thing is, I don't know if this mod works for male characters, so we'll see.
  7. I've found one user describe the process like this: "{SlaveTats loverslab}? That would let you set up, fairly trivially, a full body black tattoo for your character which you could RP as skin color fairly easily. Although, if you want it to extend to your character's head (and I assume you do) then it is going to be an Oldrim only solution, at least for now. No problem. Don't worry about the NSFW stuff, just get the base mod, create a DDS file that's 512x512 pixels of pure black, and a one entry JSON file to go with it. That way you can get your character as a matt black featureless slab apart from eyes and hair if that's what you have in mind." Thing is, I'm not experienced with this sort of thing at all, so I'm unsure how to do anything described here. Still, I'll see if I can't figure it out. Also, I don't want the skin to be so dark, you can't see his facial features. So hopefully there will be a way to lighten it up a bit.
  8. Hm... I'm not sure if it's necessary to go into creation kit and such yet. I found that KJ's Tattoos mod has a full body option and while it doesn't really cover the whole body, I've been thinking if there's a way to edit it via some kind of DDS editor like Gimp or something to make it affect the entire body. Will begin testing tomorrow.
  9. So I had an idea for a character that requires jet black skin, but it seems Racemenu is unable to create such a skin. Moving all sliders down to their lowest point just creates brown, weirdly enough. Could someone, with a good amount of detail, describe a way to maybe create a bodypaint that covers the entire body? That could work as a skin color. I'm concerned it might be too black, but baby steps, eh? Or any other trick (besides purposefully losing too much VRAM :P) to achieve the look? Will also try researching it myself, but hopefully someone way more knowledgable than I am can give a quick answer.
  10. Bump. I'm actually quite curious too on a subject relatively similar to this and if anyone knowledgable enough answered your question, they may indirectly answer mine.
  11. ...I might've just solved this. My most recently installed mod was the Natasha Face Texture mod and upon disabling it, I've played for almost 2 hours in one testing session and then for about an hour and a half in a normal play session with no problems (except for some unusually long save times that occured 3 times in the play session). I never knew texture mods could cause that sort of issue, I guess it was too much for my memory to handle alongside the 4K skin mod I have installed as well. I shall keep testing, but if I do not reply here, consider this issue solved... I friggin hope after almost 4 damn days of trying.
  12. Ah, I'll mention this, just in case. I have 273 plugins installed in total. That's 218 ESPs, 20 ESMs, and 35 ESLs. If that's unhealthy, someone do let me know. Thanks.
  13. No, please, at this point, anything that sounds dumb could be the answer. I once had crashing issues because I had a mod that messed up the Minutemen outfits. Every time I got near Preston Garvey, of all things, I crashed. I was so confused for 2 days. Anyway, I have done that recently, but hey, that could be it. Right now, I'm disabling every single mod in groups and testing the game just to ensure it isn't some weird mod problem. I'll be back in a couple of days with results and playing offline as you've suggested. Wish me luck.
  14. I'll check during my next attempt, but I do doubt it. I just left the game running for about an hour and a half with no problems. Though that may not be indicitive of anything either as the game seems to mess up whenever something, anything gets loaded. It's like it just can't, so it messes up.
  15. I did some sorting and tried again. Game crashed just over an hour in. This time, I'll try disabling every mod and then just leaving the game idle. It's crashed just from me standing around. For all I know, this isn't mod related at all. I was also given the idea to try disabling weapon debris. It's something I've never done.
  16. I disabled all of the mods and updates I had installed prior to this issue, ensured all of the DLCs were cleaned yet again (workshop DLC had just two ITMs) and went back a bunch of saves, then attempted to play for 3 hours. I froze about an hour and 18 minutes in. Guess I'll try my load order this time.
  17. Other things to mention: Computer was recently dusted. Here's everything I recall having done to the game: Downloaded and installed some pose mods. But... clearly, those can't be the problem... right? Downloaded and installed Weapons of Fate's bullet tracers and a laser bolts mod. However, I don't think these are the cause as the crashes can occur either in combat to loading screens or even just standing around, chatting with an NPC. Updated Baka ScrapHeap in an attempt to fix the problem. No success, obviously. Testing some mods from the site that cannot be named, however after testing, I uninstalled the mods and rolled back to a save before I ever installed them. AAFTurnTheLightOn was installed. Is it really possible for a damn lighting mod to cause so many problems? Updated some animation mods that go with AAF. Almost none of these affect general gameplay and none of them could come up even just by standing around, so... I'm at a loss, frankly.
  18. If I understand what you mean, I should try playing offline?
  19. Please let me know if this is the correct section, thanks. I'm having an issue of random crashes and I have no idea how it started. Normally I can troubleshoot these things on my own because there's usually a clue that leads me to the solution, but this time, it's just started happening. My load order has not changed and was working perfectly fine until a few days ago. Sometimes I can play the game for an hour and a half before it freezes/crashes/gives an infinite loading screen and other times, it'll last only half an hour. It can be in combat, loading screens, or just plain standing around. What kind of issue does this sound like? My first guess is a memory problem, but I already have my VideoMemorySizeMb configured properly in my enblocal.ini. I don't know what else to do in regards of memory. I removed a 4k skin mod to see if that did the trick, but to no avail. Has anyone else had a perfectly working load order just suddenly start crashing on you? I've never had this happen before, not even with Skyrim and I'm completely caught off guard by it. While I await a response, I'll be going through my mods to see if maybe LOOT messed up the order horribly as it might've. Never had it happen before, but there's a first time for everything. It's just very strange how an untouched mod setup can start crashing on you when just a few days ago, it ran completely fine.
  20. Hopefully this is the right section. I am wondering how to retexture a specific armor mod, which is the following: Into a black color while still keeping the overall look of the armor. Is it possible to keep every ripple, wrinkle, and the overall fabric look of this armor, but just darkening its color? If so, how? Is it easy?
  21. I'd only change if you have issues getting Legacy to stay stable enough for prolonged gameplay. But you could always just make modlists for both, then play either of the versions whenever you feel like it.
  22. I am wondering if there's any decent axe animation mods out there as it seems to be not as popular as greatswords. If not, then I'll ask is it possible to replace axe animations with greatsword ones?
  23. Fixed it. Turns out it was a problem with enblocal.ini. VideoMemorySizeMb was too low. Still, thank you, above. I will note all you've written.
  24. Hello, all! I've managed to (somewhat accidentally) create a heavily modded, yet stable load order of Skyrim and now I am attempting to do so with Fallout 4. I'd like to make it as crash and bug free as possible while knowing that a 100% stable game with a lot of mods is extremely unlikely. Still, I'd like to try regardless. I've noticed that Fallout 4 has less advice and tools out there online to help with game stability than it does Skyrim (for example, there is no Crash Fixes-esque mod for Fallout 4 that I can find), so while I research, I'm hoping somebody here with experience in modding this game will tell me something I don't know. Here's everything I know so far: I use MO2. I use LOOT, however sorting manually in accordance to the load order tips provided by mod authors in their descriptions is supposed to yield better results and I plan to do so if necessary. I use FO4Edit, but my experience with it goes as far as cleaning files. I plan to get an SSD since it has been stated numerous times that SSDs make the game much faster. Adding and removing mods in the middle of a play-through can invite problems, but removing them is harder to fix, especially for mods with scripts. It is possible to "clean" saves using tools like Fallrim Tools, but it isn't a perfect solution. Cleaning files out of the Overwrite section can help in removing errors. I do have the Unofficial Patch. But if there's anything else (like a list of mods all users should avoid) or some tool and bug fix or something I can do to ensure my game is as smooth as possible whilst having numerous mods, I'd like to know about it. Currently, on a play-through about 4 hours long, I've been having some crashes and infinite-loading screens. Even had a crash that gave me a message that had something to do with memory, so I'm thinking I might have too many texture mods. :P Thanks for reading.
  25. I moved the Documents folder and then started a new play through. Also, yes, I'll admit it's very unusual since I've never seen this before, but I'm following what the clues are pointing at. I've never had too many issues running the game before (usually some stutters in the Boston area, but that's about it), so if it was a hardware issue, I feel like that would've come up when I first got the game. Yet I've been playing it on PC for a few years now. All I know is I try to enter Concord, I crash. The few times it works, I see Preston Garvey looking very unusual. I try to spawn him in next to me away from Concord, I crash. Ergo, he may be the problem. I didn't have mods enabled in the right pane of MO2 at the time, but they were in the left pane. For example, my character's body replacer was still intact. So tomorrow, I'll try getting rid of mods that edit Preston's appearance in some way, be it his clothes or his face. See if that does it.
