  3. I apologize, I didn't intend to convey that kind of churlishness. I was merely offering a solution to your problem - pay money and support Nexus Mods and you won't have to deal with those popups and clicking that button ever again.
  4. Then don't download mods over and over again, using their bandwidth and costing them money. Or pay them $57 one-time-only (less then the cost of a new game) for lifetime premium or a monthly fee for monthly premium. Simple solutions to your problem. Hell, at least buy a Supporter tier once for like $2 and you will never see third-party advertisements on Nexus Mods again. There is plenty you can do to fix your problem that doesn't involve leeching entirely off Nexus Mods.
  5. Sorry mate you've missed my meaning. The problem with nexus ads are they're parasitic. Do TV or streaming ads crash your TV or app? Don't think so. And before you refute this, nexus ads in fact do, hogging up so much ram it forces you to have to reboot the internet browser. If they didn't do this it would be a non-issue. Then you should be reporting those bad ads in the "Report Bad Ads" forum so that an admin can fix the issue.
  6. The likely situation is that Nexus Mods was too charitable for too long. A large number of free users used up too much bandwidth (costing Nexus Mods a whole lot of money) and they offered almost nothing in return. And for those users who used adblockers, who literally leeched off the site, offering zero in return, Nexus Mods should have removed their downloading privileges completely.
  7. Agreed. It isn't the "Hot Files" anymore when the list gets arbitrarily modified or limited because people are angry that their mods don't get enough downloads to show up on the list. If not enough people are downloading my mods for them to show up on the Hot Files list, that isn't the fault of Nexus Mods or some other mod author, that's on me for making something that isn't super popular.

  9. Serious question: How exactly did you not notice that you didn't have Premium for two years? There are plenty of "consider buying a premium upgrade" banners on the site, even if you didn't see any ads. Agreed.

  11. Assuming you have permission to port these mods, it's not all that hard. You open up the CK, load the mod, sign in to Bethesda.net via the File menu, then just click on the Upload to Xbox on Bethesda.net (or something to that effect) button. It will give you a few prompts about creating an archive file (which is required for Xbox mods) and then it will publish the mod and give you a link to further edit it on Bethesda.net.
  12. The easiest solution, as you mentioned, would be to create an XMarker and use that as the reference for the explosions. Just move it around before calling the explosion's PlaceAtMe. It's not going to slow down your script by any appreciable amount whatsoever.

  14. Of course what you are describing is derivative work. Your example, as you have described it, makes Lucien / Inigo (or whomever) speak your new lines, right? That's a derivative work because you are making a character that you didn't create express words and opinions that you made up and with zero permission to use that character.

  16. We already have a solution that prevents it - you just don't like the existing solution. I was intentionally exaggerating with my example. Yes, because they created the character in the first place. An argument rooted firmly in populism at the expense of content creators, color me surprised.ÃÂ Undue authority? Says who? Mod authors are the people who are creating mods, not users. The author of a mod should have full control over their creation, full stop.
  17. Your overall argument - disregarding the question of copyright law - seems to not contend with what I consider a deeper issue. If I were to create a "patch mod" for the Inigo or Lucien mods that patched the voice lines so the characters would spout homophobic nonsense I would be violating the authors' vision for their characters. I would be taking their creation and perverting it. And I could do all of that without redistributing any of their original files. And that simple scenario, I fully believe, is the crux for why the rule exists.
  18. To answer your question in a general way: when you use stuff you didn't create in your own work and there isn't written permissions from the content creator that allows your use of their work, then, yes, you need to ask permission.
  19. Mod Z requires some amount of information contained in Mod X so that Mod Z can function as intended. Thus Mod Z incorporates Mod X as the underlying work. I'm not going to continue to play this game with you - if you feel that my explanation isn't up to your standards then I suggest that you find yourself a lawyer and pay them to explain it to you.
  20. It doesn't matter the exact definition of "derivative work" used. The fact is that Mod Z requires Mod X in order to function. By creating Mod Z, which requires Mod X (underlying work), Mod Z builds upon (incorporates) all of Mod X and whatever changes / additions Mod Z does constitutes the derivative work. The simple fact of the matter is that the Berne Convention protects copyrighted works from being used without permission from the copyright holder. Article 2, Section 3 of the Berne Convention states: The Guide to the Berne Convention clarifies the text of Article 2, Section 3 a bit more:
