  1. Getting the straight downhill animation would be easy. Trying to get acceleration/ variable speed based on slope and time going downhill would probably be a little tricky. I'm not sure about getting animations for leaning for turns and whatnot, might not be hard if different animations are used for turning while on foot/mounted n stuff. Would be a really cool mod if someone could pull it off. Make sure they are the old style wooden skis and itd fit right in to the nordic theme.
  2. First of all I am assuming there is no way to do this as of now, if there is I am a massive idiot. I feel bad that I ride my horse around everywhere while my poor companion runs after me on foot in a hopeless bid to keep up. How feasible do you guys n gals think this would be to implement? Seems like it might be a little tricky, but then again we haven't seen the construction set yet. This would be a really cool mod if it could be done imo.
  3. My idea is to add a hidden quest where you can go burn down the ESRB's headquarters. My serious suggestion is to reduce the pauses in gameplay as much as possible. -be able to do things from the inventory screen while still moving around and what not -be able to have enough things on hotkey to do an entire dungeon in unpaused live-play -repairing is a good realistic addition to increase the feel of immersion, but it should be implemented in a way where we don't have to keep essentially pausing the game for it. maybe make it only doable in cities by an anvil but have weapons and armor last longer.
  4. hmm i must try this, I wonder if there is a way to do a mod that allows this to be done convienently. EDIT: I forgot about the sticky key sound (I thought my powersupply busted a capacitor the first time). I really hate the sticky key sound... FML
  5. I tried this, but was uncessful, thanks for the tip tho
  6. yes, also apparently combining meshes shows an immediate reversion of all the changes.
  7. Whenever I export a blend file back to nif It looks like my original imported file, not the edited version. Surely I am doing some obviously stupid but for the life of me I can't figure it out. anybody have any ideas about what I might be doing wrong?
  8. If I wanted to learn how-to convert clothing/armor (say exnem --> HGEC) 1) Are there any guides on such things that are especially good/recommendable? 2) What software would you recommend and why? 3) If someone could give a summary of the process of doing a conversion, and what parts are especially tricky it would be super. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide! -evermore
  9. I must try this dof 1 of which you speak! thanks a bunch: <3-<3-<3
  10. Ok so I have a question: Is it possible to pause the action/motion of the player actor and NPCs (or just a complete pause of the game) while still being able to move the camera freely to line up a shot? A list of imperfect solutions I already know: -tcl -tfc -tai (locks anims but not motion, since many anims cause motion the character while keep moving even though processing is off) -spawning invisible collsion boxes to hold actors in place with tai (works but takes forever to get right) -pausing the game in way where camera cannot be moved What I do right now is just use tai and try to get the shot off while the actors are sliding past the right position. Something that stops translational motion of the actors would work, but obviously a way to totally pause the game while mantaining a movable camera would work also. A mod with all the game's anims and other pose/animation mods w/o translational motion would work also, but would be a huge project and probaly incomplete since many of the anim/pose mods do not allow for use as a modding resource. thanks in advance for anyone who may be able to give some advice -evermore
  11. The issue I am talking about concerns the discussion on many threads and files on the nexus where some people have trouble installing a mod or file of some type. People who are not very experienced with doing some tasks with their computer often have trouble installing mods because even excellent read-me's often assume common knowledge that some people don't have. What happens is a result is that people end up messing up mod installations and post complaints on the file discussion thread or sending angry, distraught PMs to the file author/uploader. As a result modders get annoyed and angry as well, leaving everyone disillusioned and pissed off. Effort on both sides of the technical ability chasm is required to keep everyone happy and constructive. People new to downloading and installing files need to realize that: -If your mod installation goes wrong is it very possible that the mistake is on your end, and not necessarily the fault of the mod. -Mods usually have readmes: read it! -If your having trouble, read the comments on the mod, chances are your not the only one that has had a certain problem, most likely someone else has asked and had answered whatever question you have had. -If you don't find an answer to your problem don't immediately PM the author of the mod, if your problem is a general installation issue anyone can answer your question, first try the comment area. -Realize modders are doing a lot of work for free, remain polite! Modders and technical adepts need to realize that: -Some people don't know some things you might assume to be common knowledge. -Technical issues are very maddening to people not adept at solving such problems, so people will get agitated even with excellent mod support. This doesn't justify flaming mods obviously, just don't take it personally! -If people are asking general knowledge questions in comments to your file don't feel obliged to answer them all, if you do its great, but there are many people at the nexus who can help with such things. -Try to avoid overuse of acronyms in readmes.
  12. You should narrow down the problem to either hardware or drivers. Test your dvd drive in a known working system. Test a known working dvd drive in your system. Then go from there :) gl to you sir!
  13. The "tai" command which halts processing will completly lock an NPC in place. It will work on the player character as well to halt animations, but not transitional motion. I still have yet to find a way to halt transitioal motion easily. One could always create an invisisble floating item to push your character up against I suppose. The best way to get a good shot is always to just take a ton and pick out the best.
  14. Hi, I am new to posting on these boards so I'd figure i would say hi. I played Oblivion a good bit when it came out and have just come back to it recently. This site remains the best spot for Oblivion mods and files by far. I am also very impressed at how active it is for such an old game. Maybe it has something to do with the TES5 rumors? Anyway, just wanted to say hi! -Evermore
