  1. Want to see a difference... load Darkage or whatever the highest difficulty is... 2-3 Dragons at once, roaming bandits, Thalmor, Dremora... I had to deactivate it and take it down a notch. Getting to Riverwood... was a pain in the ass, Trolls or Dragons roaming about.
  2. You probably installed Wars in Skyrim, which also breaks that particular quest. Disable it, do the quest... enable :P Awesome mod
  3. I'll pass on Steam Workshop, no search function, unless I missed it.
  4. They usually patch games... they'll patch the CK as well.
  5. TBH I don't trust steam all that much, I trust it less with applying mods. I'll be sticking to the Nexus. I really hope the surprise is NOT a HD texture pack. I just downloaded the 900mb one... and that would be a shame because the person put a lot of effort into that pack. Maybe it's something better : /
  6. Wait - don't do it. You don't have to - the POS heatsinks on Corsair Vengeance are very easily removed. Take a piece of plastic or wood, slide it under the heatsink from the slot side and carefully force it up. Don't use a knife or anything, just plastic, work from a corner. Then the other corner, and on the opposite side. It's held by some very weak glue (like chewing gum) on top of the modules. The "heatsink" is actually just two thin sheets of aluminum, it's hollow inside and useless for cooling. Your RAM will be cooler without these "heatsinks". Be careful not to tear apart a small sticker on the top, it holds the two pieces together. Then put the heatsinks into the package this RAM came in, keep that package in your mobo box together with the rest of the bundle. That way you'll be able to put the heatsinks back on for appearance, should you need to RMA it (rare, but just in case) or if you're going to sell it someday. Thanks I was looking at that earlier... and all I saw was empty space above the module itself. I'll give it a shot. and the way the fans on the cooler are positioned anyways they'll be sucking out any potential heat. Much appreciated.
  7. Hey all Just a friendly warning if you plan on buying a nice cpu cooler like mine PH-TC14PE make sure you buy low profile ram(height), stay away from Corsair Vengeance and any other Ram that has a high profile... I gotta chop like 3mm off the top of the 'fins' tomorrow. I've been reading about this problem, and thought I'd share my problem and possibly warn people about it. I've been reading about this problem and people's solution was to chop the top of the fins... seeing as it's an air cooled system and the way I plan to position the fan it should take any excess heat out from the modules anyways. So good luck and shop smarter than I did.
  8. Bah the Falmer make me sick... poor poor victims, couldn't finish a fight THEY started, got their collective asses kicked ran to hide with the Dwemer. Wanna know the real reason the Dwemer left? It was the Falmer and their stench... yeah I said it... the Falmer stink. Nah but seriously they're alright. Pretty awesome enemies as well. Just wish there was a bit more lore on them, or at least a way to cure them... cure the stink that is, nah nah just kidding.
  9. Hello all I'm building a new system: i5 2500k and a GTX 570 1.2 gb. There are a a lot of mods out there, my problem is choosing which ones to use. The 570 is a powerful piece of tech and Skyrim is a beautiful place, I was wondering which mods would you recommend to make it look even better. I do have a few in mind but I'd still like to see what people recommend. Thanks
  10. I don't get the bear reference... can someone elaborate?
  11. The one thing I would love in a DLC is the actions during the MQ and the Civil War have consequences for your PC. If you killed Parthurnax(sp), Empire/Stormcloaks/ Killed the Emperor (unless you're Master of all the Guilds). Unless it's just gonna be armor and weapons :(
  12. I'm assuming that this hasn't been made into a mod yet? I've checked the Nexus Files but found nothing. I guess we bump and wait for the CK maybe someone with some know how can do this. I know nothing about mods, except how to install them :P.
  13. I don't think it'll be that much of an improvement, I'm still using my EAH HD 4870 1GB, Very High settings. I'm quite surprised by this card of mine, I can still run Crysis 2 apparently. Check the link below if it's linked properly that is. If not select your card to the one you want. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/295?vs=290
  14. One things I miss from oblivion was leveling up, it was a bit more interesting and 'complex', now it's stupidly simple
  15. This same problem happened to me today, played the game 2 days ago and the last thing I did was fight (BRAWL) an Orc chieftain in one of the strongholds, saved the game and went to work. I don't use magic but I do use shouts and well... Stuck with Aura Whisper for now. Any help is appreciated. p.s. I've waited in game, zoned in and out of structures and fast traveled, I also tried it with no mods running. Basically I've done everything I read about this bug and tried the said recommendations.
  16. From what I understand, Vikings wore chain mail when available, usually the armour consisted of tanned leather mixed with cloth(like a sweater but more loose fitting). Swords were kept simple, as were axes. When I was in Norway 2006, the museums had some amazing collections of swords and helmets, some swords had runes etched into them, armour representation was scarce, helmets had no horns or wings lol, they had what looked like visors to shield the eyes. So yeah I don't think there is a true representation of what you could call Nord armour in our historical sense. In gaming terms, the steel armour with bits of fur sticking out is closest you'll get to Nord. It would have to be modeled and modded into the game.
  17. If they come back here's a NOT so well thought out idea. The Dwemer emerge from their timeslip or extra-dimensional plane (as some here have suggested), forcing the Thalmor and the Empire/Storm-Cloaks and Argonians (depending on path chosen by the PC) to work together, they send scouts to the nearest locations of Dwemer sightings... some Island(s) doesn't have to be mainland Skyrim. The said party is wiped out, PC is sent in to investigate. Turns out that the Dwemer that did return are an advanced party of scouts... maybe the rest figured out a way to get back from where they are now. Said scouts basically prepare a beachhead for the rest of the Dwemer. Dwemer return to Nirn as conquerors. The Empire is reunited under the PC as a dragonborn emperor or empress. Big fight, many arrows fired... big explosions... PC wins, game over... that's how I can see Bethesda reintroducing the Dwemer. OR, the Dwemer win, drive everyone out or enslave them, the PC is whisked away by a dragon just before he/she is killed. TES VI: you are, wait for it, wait for it... a Prisoner that escapes from a Dwemeri Imperial Prison! yeah you're the descendant of the Dragon born. Turns out the PC eventually got captured or something hehe. Like I said, not well thought out. Just random brain storming. A game ending on a sour note or defeat makes sense for a sequel.
  18. Why not Atmora? See how the first humans are doing... or if they're still there. Somethings to ponder. 1. Result of the civil war should have an impact in the DLC i.e. if you did this then that happens. 2. Reasons for a particular locale in which the DLC would take place. For example Hammerfell to aid the Redguards against the Thalmor. 3. Or it could be something about the Direnni Tower, oldest structure, perhaps a library with history on all the races of Nirn 4. Becoming High King/Queen of Skyrim... or even the new Emperor/Empress... too much to ask for I know. Whatever the expansion will bring hopefully they'll iron out the bugs before it arrives.
  19. I as others tend to choose a female for certain classes, if I'm a thief/assassin/mage those chars will be female. Archers/heavy armor type I'll go male. My first character whom I still play is male, he's joining every guild available as he is my first char. The others I plan to RP a bit with.
  20. Thanks for explanations really appreciate it, and fast too :)
  21. I was very curious about 2 things that sort of bother me... I played Oblivion and bit of Morrowind #1. Can alchemy be modified to have 4 ingredients like in Oblivion? #2. Can Smithing be changed so that you can wear Top and bottom separately i.e. Greaves/Chest. Would either of these be possible with the use of the CK when it arrives? Thanks
  22. Here's a few poison recipes, haven't tested any of these... My favourite is Deathbell + Giant Lichen + Skeever tail = Damage Health, Ravage Health, Weakness to Poison Deathbell + River Betty + Small Antlers = Damage health, weakness to poison, slow Deathbell + Imp Stool + Crimson Nirnroot*** =Damage health *** I used Skyrim Alchemy Assistant 1.31 for the 3rd one, shows damage magnitude as 6... gotta test it when I get home. River Betty + Death Bell + Silverside Perch =Damage Stamina regen, Damage health, ravage health.
  23. Winterhold... dragon circles, lands I kill it... in the process I killed a chicken, next thing you know dead dragon and dead chicken, I'm wanted for murder. A chicken!! *sigh* no one noticed I just saved the people. Mod to remove chicken registering as victims or something along those lines would be nice.
  24. This sounds really interesting, I'd like for the game to be harder i.e. more health on mobs. I'm a casual gamer, and I was wondering if this was made would you include options to toggle on/off certain features? i.e Sneak Icon, health/mana/stam bars to be toggled on/off. The compass thing wouldn't bother me too much as we have a map for reference. Thanks and good luck on this project.
  25. Hello I was wondering if it would be possible to have all map markers at the beginning of the game, not 'tmm1' as this makes them all discovered. I'd like to see the whole map. Is this possible? can I do this myself, I know absolutely zero about modding. Thanks
