  1. In Combat: 1 - what the f*** those "to hit" percentages mean? There is this mission where I have 55% to hit a grey with a sniper and 47% to hit another gray with a rifle. My soldiers ALWAYS miss it. I mean, I loaded the game 10 times, and they missed the shot ALL THE TIMES! So wtf those percentages mean? If they ALWAYS miss a 55% to hit, then that 55% actually means 5,5%???????? 2 - I cant decide WHERE to shoot. I must shoot just at the aliens. Holy f***, I want to shoot between two different aliens, like in the original XCOM, so if my soldier is bad at shooting, I may have a chance of actually hitting the aliens with my bad aim 3 - developers said their new non-TU system is actually more "strategic" because with the TU system you couldnt actually know what you were doing, or thinking in group. I disagree. The new system is actually the one where you cant properly think strategically, and thats why players are finding it difficult and having squadies killed in every mission. I will give an example: in the TU system, you had an good idea of how far an alien could move and how much he could shoot in a move. So you could decide where to position your soldiers. In the new system, the aliens can walk a very short distance, OR a very long distance, and still shoot, because walking a long distance or a short distance consumes the same amount of "action points". (very long distances consume more action points however) STRATEGIC/BASE LAYER 1 - you cant select the precise location of the base. Nor build more bases 2 - for some reason, you can´t hire scientists/engineers from right away. The game restricts too much what you can or can´t do at the start of the game 3 - it seems they limited even more what you can do during fighter/alien craft engagements... you cant even decide anymore if you want them to be cautious or agressive. The only option is to abort the engagement! 4 - I hate this new system of "choices", where idiotically, you have two or more events happening exactly at the same time. Again, strategy and decision making taken out of players hands in favor of what developers thought was fun (in the original you could very well buy another Skyranger and deploy two teams at the same time in different locations around the globe. OR, if the two locations of events were near, you could do both with the SAME Skyranger and team... as long as it had fuel for both missions. I like some things. Like the extra mission variety, I like the graphical style and sound/music. But I think there is so much else that is really irritating, not to mention the complete dumbing down of the game, removing TONS of features that made strategy deeper, in favor of stupid decision making "strategy" that make no sense whatsoever, like deciding if your soldier will carry a grenade or a gun sniper into battle. (cant do both at the same time, ridiculous!)

  3. I was thinking the other day of making mods based on Monty Python sketches/movies. Like having a new building on Whiterun or Solitude. With a sign "Cheese Shop". You enter the building and this band is playing music inside. You talk with the shop owner and the dialogue follows closely with the original sketch (but maybe with some Elder Scrolls things thrown in... like instead of refering to a cheese from a specific Earth location, it refers to a cheese from a specific Nirn location... or mamooth cheese). Then in the end of course, you need to kill the shop owner. Not much of a quest really... more just comical relief and replaying those great sketches in Skyrim´s enviroment. Maybe could add a quest or two, like having to fetch some mammoth cheese... or maybe "the dead Dragon sketch"... where you buy this dragon, which the seller assures you that is sleeping, only to discover "This dragon is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies! 'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!!He's f*ckin' snuffed it!.....   5. Total conversion of course, its the only way to make a Dungeons and Dragons game with the Oblivion engine. Would love to see a Beholder with Skyrim´s engine. Btw, Dragons in D&D have FOUR legs, so even they should be remade.
  6. I might as well post here too, since ARCHERY is a sort of combat, isnt it? so, what ARCHERY MOD is the best? And does Duel COmbat or Deadly Combat alter archery?

  10. @Nofear: what if you create the sound files and commands for Minsc to use those sound files, but leave the sound files blank? Then, IF a player wants to use the Minsc sound files, he should find them and replace your blank sound files?

He is good with two handed swords, maces, longbows and dual wielding. he cannot cast magic, but he has the BERSERK ability and the CHARM ANIMAL ability.(which would be considered a spell in Skyrim). Berserk ability (which has limited duration) basically makes him stronger and more agile (20 strenght and 18 dexterity), plus makes him harder to hit... oh yeah, and of course, gets immune to charm/mind control spells and other sort of spells that would freeze or control him.
  15. wait for Companion Vilja for Skyrim. Have you used Vilja at Oblivion? She talked so much that you had the option to ask her to shut it. Still, an excellent companion with a huge questline and many options. She would comment on particular map locations, even abandon you and go shopping (with YOUR MONEY) when visiting major cities lol. Emma, the mod creator, is already working on Vilja for Skyrim.

I mean, Minsc talk with Boo as if Boo was fighting alonside him, but we never had any proof that Boo really did ANYTHING at all besides standing inside Minsc inventory... you are right about the voice actor, his name is Jim Cummings and he made hundreds of movies, cartoons and videogames. he made SEVERAL voices for Skyrim. I loved in Baldur´s Gate you had a party of 6 caracthers... each one specialized in something... you would usually have something like 2 tanks, a thief (for opening locks and disarming traps), one or two mages. Maybe a healer or a ranger. Etc. In Elder Scrolls you become ALL OF THOSE... one guy who ends up getting good at EVERYTHING by the end of the game. Not very realistic. Plus, companions and helpers end up just making company, rather than being truly useful. Now, of course, we could have mods to restrict classes and what your caracther can become (I would love that, as long as you could have companions to fullfull those skills you can´t get). But to what use a caracthers of different classes and a big party if companions have a will of their own and you cant truly use each of them in their respective skill to their full potential? So what I was really wondering is if it would be possible to implement a system more like Baldurs Gate, or EVEN like in Mass Effect. That is... PAUSE THE GAME and give commands to companions for what they should do. Example: You enter the dungeon with your party of 4. You are a fighter, but you have a thief companion, an archer companion and a mage companion. You see in a pit there are several bandits. You pause the game and put the cursor in a place where you want the mage to stand and another place for the archer to stand. They will really go there and STAY there. You easily tell your thief to sneak behind an enemy and backstab him (maybe you would need to tell the path, dont know if this can be automatic). As your archer and mage start fireing arrows and spells at the enemies and your thief starts going down the pit to backstab one opponent, you also get down and start mowing them down with your sword, taking advantage several of them were already softened by the arrows and fireballs. OOOPS! Fireballs! You are being hurt by them too! You pause the game and change the mage´s spell to something that wont hurt you... maybe instead of direct attacks at the enemies, the mage will instead throw spells at YOU to make you stronger, or faster, whatever. The thief just backstabbed and killed the opponent. Two other opponents turn on the thief to kill him. You pause the game and tell the thief to retreat, while you tell the mage and archer to focus their attacks on the thief pursuers. Battle won. All enemies killed. You tell your mage to heal the party and you tell the thief to unlock the chest with the treasure, since your skill is not high enough for that... How to give commands? That I am not sure. From a third person over the shoulder view like in Mass Effect? From a free floating camera that can go only a certain distance from the main caracther? Its important however that in the heat of the battle, whenever you pause the action, you wont need to turn your first person view... it should simulate the ability to shout commands to your friends, not you "moving" with time paused... BATTLE SQUAD TACTICS in Mass Effect for those who never played it BATTLE SQUAD TACTICS in Baldurs Gate... obviously quite impossible to reproduce in Skyrim... but you get what I mean...
  20. my suggestion: making our own user MEDIEVAL ARCHITECTURE SET, so anyone wanting to make mods with architecture more like in Oblivion, would be able to do so. I REALLY want to do one, but wont be able to do it alone. Will need help from other people... I would but I'm not vary good at making meshes and textures. must help gathering people to make it. Obviously, such tileset would have many uses for many people in the modding community.

  22. Low poly and good looking would allow the creation of big interesting cities. I was baffled when I entered the creation kit and discovered every single house and building in Skyrim is not made of tiles that can be rearranged according to your imagination, but entire buildings that cant be modified. Thus, I want to create, luckily with help, a medieval buildings tileset.   23. better than that, would be to have companions ACT like in Mass Effect... I mean, the ability to pause the game and give them commands. For more tactical battles... if that was possible, we could have Baldurs Gate 2 style tactical battles... just need 5 followers... 2 tanks, 1 healer, 1 mage, 1 thief, 1 ranger (or a 2nd mage)
