  1. Hello, I'm constructing a load free skyrim player home / keep, but I have one problem ... how do I keep snow and rain from falling in the home? Is there a collision barrier that might prevent it if I place it over the structure? Thanks in advance! :) Whitemorn
  2. I'm having a similar issue, yet different. I made a wispmother into a ghost to haunt my tomb. When I enter the first time, she's there, but she never respawns when I leave and return. I've tried the respawn scripts with the entry door as the trigger but that isn't working. I'll let you know if I find out what to do.
  3. I can't help you but I have tried uninstalling the CK and reinstalling it because I'm having an issue with the world space heights being off. Water that I can't seem to select is too high and many land areas are also floating strangely. It's almost as if the default game height levels have been changed, but this is in the original vanilla Tamriel areas near wilderness 31 / -21. I've been trying to find out what the original settings should be in the CK world space window, or how to reset the CK to its default parameters.
  4. I have a post with crash solution tips that might help. Good luck! http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1747591-crash-after-load-screen/
  5. I have a crash advice page here that might help you.. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1747591-crash-after-load-screen/
  6. That's great.
  7. OK, I've played this game for about one year now and I keep hearing people ask about game crashes which I've personally had to solve myself many times due to the vast number of mods I use. So here is my advice.. Keep in mind that this is only based on my experience so far. When you first install the game on a PC, your system will be checked for how the settings should be adjusted IE: high, med or low graphics....mine said that the game would be set to medium. Well, my game crashed immediately after loading every time, even after putting my fade sliders down to the lowest settings in the video options window . So I changed the game setting from medium to low but set all of my fade sliders to about 50%, with my detail on medium and everything else on low or none IE: anti aliasing etc.. The game ran perfectly after doing that. Then, I would keep adjusting my fade sliders up as far as I could (one at a time), until I reached the highest possible quality level. The best way to test against crashes is at the height of battle when there is allot of demand on your game. You can't just walk around in the grass and think that the settings are fine. My sliders are all at about 80% now and the game runs fine. You can't depend on Steam to put your settings at the correct levels unless you have a top notch system, (and probably half of us don't). So here are some of my other personal tips for avoiding game crashes and freezes: #1 Save your games often... If I enter a room, kill 4 enemies and loot them, I do a save before entering another room. WHY? because there may be a freeze caused by the game or an unexpected glitch not caused by your system or even your mods... and you will have to load a previous save to get the game to load properly again. In the last year, I've had "crash to desktop" issues about 6 times when trying to load my last save, but when I load a previous save the game reloads and works fine. #2 In the (in game) game settings menu, turn off the vibration and or any option that isn't used, if you are using your keyboard and mouse. It may not cause a crash, but it may speed things up a tad. #3 If you are new to using mods, use a manager like the "Nexus Mod Manager" (available at the Nexus site). It can get pretty complex to insert mod game files yourself... at first. #4 Read the requirements that the mod uses before you try and install them. Probably the #1 cause for trouble is when you install a mod that requires a custom body skeleton such as armor or clothing mods, like XP32, or a mod that requires SKSE (script extender). Another one to watch for is any FNIS required mod like special female or male (animation) pose mods. I just installed a pose mod and forgot to re-run my FNIS controller afterward, and as a result, my game kept crashing during play... until I ran FNIS and found the exclusion of that animation option. #5 Before deleting any follower or companion mod, be sure to dismiss the follower in the game first! OR DOOM! Your game will crash to desktop or freeze. #6 Like #5, before removing any weapon or armor mod, be sure and un-equip the item in the game first. I go so far as to collecting all of the items from my followers, chests etc.. and dump them on the ground before removing the mod. #7 Install one to 2 mods at a time rather than several. Many mods are incompatible with each other and may need to be removed. For instance, Apachi Sky hair (which I recommend) will not work well with some other hair mods, just as the UNP body mods will or may conflict with CBBE types, since the body skeletons differ. ALWAYS CHECK THE MOD REQUIREMENTS TAB BEFORE DOWNLOADING! #8 Make sure and do windows updates often or CRASH goes the game! One of the symptoms of this problem is an almost immediate "crash to desktop". #9 Learn to install and use the "LOOT" program, which can help you configure your mod order. It will help you organize your mods better than BOSS does, for a more stable game play. If you use BOSS (which is becoming obsolete), you will see that the recommended load orders are quite different because they work with a different methodology. #10 Replacement and overhaul mods seem to be the safest from my experience... then stand alone mods like followers, or armor mods. Read the posts left by people who have tried the mod before installing it. If there are allot of problems mentioned, I would leave the mod alone unless it was very recently updated, but even then, I'm a coward! Be sure and install the "Skyrim Unofficial Patch" which requires that your game version be 1.9.32.0.8 (the most recent to date). This patch has repaired many errors that cause instabilities and crashes in the game. #11 Install and learn to use the "TES5edit" mod cleaning program. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25859/? Youtube has some good videos on how to use the program. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Re8YBJm9l64 #12 You may have to check the integrity of the game files on Steam if nothing else works, but if you do, you will have to readjust your game settings again. (You will not lose your saved games). #13 Most of my troubles have been caused by trying to use 2 of the same type of mods together, like face mods, or two replacer mods that replace the same thing such as armor. Lets say that you don't like the Dwarven armor on your females because it looks too bulky, so you install a replacer mod for that armor. A week later, you forget that you did that and install another Dwarven armor replacer mod....well you're in for trouble. A stand alone Dwarven armor mod should work fine. If you wanted to change your Dwarven armor replacer to another one, you would have to deactivate the first one before installing the second one. BOSS does not seem to always find such conflicts. #14 Another problem that I have only encountered once that caused my game to crash every time, but I have not seen reported was caused when I installed a clothing mod. My game crashed every time I went to the forge to craft a hide object. Well, I had forgotten about having installed the mod, due to a time break, but found it while troubleshooting the problem. The mod (NMM said) installed correctly, but when I went to find the plug in file, IT WAS NOT THERE! Weird huh! Anyway, I reinstalled the mod and the plugin file showed up, but guess what???? The items never showed up at the forge, so I gave up on the mod. UNINSTALLED! #15 If your Nexus mod manager stops working (mine has twice) DON'T PANIC! Simply uninstall and reinstall the program. All of your mods will remain intact because the files stay in your skyrim folder. #16 I installed the mod called FPS limiter because I was having some lag issues and crashes. It limits your "frames per second" to make your game run more smoothly. Its default limit is set at 30 but I set mine at 100 with no problem and no more crashes. I have medium quality equipment that simply couldn't handle the higher FPS rates in complex situations, like heavy battle. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34/? #17 Skyrim is a very complex game. It's like a puzzle in a way with ordered sequences. When you're playing with mods it deepens the puzzle a bit. For instance, I went into the Understone Keep in Marcarth with 13 of my custom followers ... well, one of them decided to pick a fight with one of the Yarls guards and killed him, (for reasons unknown). The Yarl and his peeps went running for safety and I ran out into Marcarth. Well ordinarily ... the guards would have to arrest someone for murder, but I guess it isn't written into the game sequence if your follower decides to give a taste of their cold hard steel to someone, so when I re-entered Understone the guards didn't act like anything was wrong, but every time I walked 10 feet past the first interior guard, my game would crash to desktop. I had to load the game with a save that happened before my follower killed the guard to be able to play it again without crashing. Another example was when one of my followers was told to relax, they were using the grindstone that I needed so I tried to butt in ... The follower ended up jumping on my head and the game crashed because the sequences were all screwed up. My point is ... watch for anything strange that might happen. If you CTD.. reload an earlier game. #18 This has happened to me twice and it caused me problems both times ... I uninstalled a mod thinking it was causing my game to crash and then reinstalled it but didn't note that it ended up in the wrong category. When I load my mod order, I have all of my clothing and armor mods after the .esm's and general game altering files like saturation boost, glowing ore veins, and alternative load screens. So I have 19 different craftable mods, all listed alphabetically. The mod that was in the wrong category started with a B, but would not work well in the order. I could play the mod if I put it in the middle of my follower mods, but after playing for a couple of hours the game would freeze up. As soon as I placed the mod under the clothing category instead of "undesignated", I placed its plugin back in the craftable list in the correct alphabetical position and that solved the freeze-ups. Why do I place mods of the same category in alphabetical order?...because that is how files in any folder are placed, so if the game is loading your follower folder (lets say).. each file will load properly and faster than if you had them mixed up, so the game will load much more quickly. The proper placement of mods makes a huge difference in many ways! #19 I like to keep my animation mods at the bottom of my load list or any heavily scripted mods that use SKSE, since the lower mods take priority over the ones above. Once, my game kept CTD for an entire day and I didn't find the issue until the following day when I went to use an FNIS animation spell and there was nothing FNIS to be found in my magic menus as usual. Somehow, I had lost the mod, even though NMM showed that they were installed and the plugin was checked, so look for your controls on anything that may be used by FNIS. If something is missing, you may have to de-activate all of your animation mods and reactivate them one by one, but make sure and run the FNIS generator after each re-activation and or de-activation / uninstall or the animations won't work. #20 For a more in depth look at problem solving always read the "Steam Support Page" on problem solving: https://support.steampowered.com/ It talks more about disabling your antivirus software etc.... #21 UPDATE ALL PROGRAMS and DRIVERS, like directX and graphic cards. You may not always get a message that there is an update available so check yourself. #22 For several days, I had Crash and freeze problems. I finally found the issue after days of searching ... I had installed the update to SKSE, but I had failed to install the files correctly, so I re-installed them (correctly) and the game worked fine after that so make sure that you have all of the files in place. Watch the YouTube installation video found here, along with the installation files source: Don't forget to launch skyrim with the SKSE launcher!!!!!!!! If you use the steam launcher as you did in the beginning (prior to SKSE) your game will either crash, freeze or get stuck trying to load. That's about it, other than reminding everyone not to be a "MOD HOARDER". Disable mods when they are not what you hoped for. (Your game will run more smoothly with less mods). I hope this information is helpful to someone since I've had to go through allot of posts and personal experience to find it all out. ROCK ON DRAGONBORNS! THE MEANING OF LIFE ... IS TO DO SOMETHING NOBODY"S EVER DONE BEFORE .
