I know that your post is old but just recently i started restoring the chantry of auri-el to what it used to be. It won't be done for a while but once summer comes around i'll have some extra time on my hands. I plan on actually making snow elf npc's like prelates and a patrolling guard of paladins to protect it.

I don't know if you still are paying attention to this but there is a recruit soldiers mod. It allows you to use your rank to command up to 5 soldiers to follow you. Some people complained they get lost and the limit gets glitched but you can probably use the console to fix it. It's called civil war followers.
