  1. Your summary of what happened is correct. I'm using Windows 7. I'll try to shut down unnecessary processes in task manager and take steam into offline mode. Thanks!
  2. Hi Everyone, So I'm playing Skyrim and everything is working normally, and I take a break, but then I start up the game and try to load any savegame, Skyrim won't recognize or can't see any ESMs or ESPs, including things as basic as Skyrim.esm. I get the savegame is missing these ESMs/ESPs warning. When I continue to load the game anyway, I get a rush of notifications about mods being activated and MCM menus being found as if I were starting a new game. This has happened before, but suddenly the game went back to working correctly, I don't know why. I didn't change anything. Now Skyrim is doing this again and again, I didn't change anything. I just took a break for a couple of hours. I've tried loading cleaned saves and saves that haven't been cleaned. No matter what save I try to load, Skyrim just doesn't want to recognize the ESMs and ESPs. If anyone has a advice or insight, I'd appreciate it.
  3. What are you seeing in Task Manager Performance tab? Are you seeing CPU spikes? Does this problem happen every time you play Skyrim, pretty much constantly, or are there times when you're getting good FPS and smooth gameplay?
  4. POSSIBLE SOLUTION: I may have found a solution. This is so stupid, but it seems to be working. It's ok if you laugh. Other posters have said nudging a follower with a shout or whacking them with a weapon with get them out of their non-following behavior loop. That generally didn't work for me. I pounded them into failure states with a variety of implements, but they just wouldn't budge. I was out in the wilderness one day trying to deal with one follower and my intrepid band of adventurers got jumped by bandits, courtesy of OBIS. They beat the living crap out of us, but wouldn't you know it, the follower started following again after recovering from the essential bleedout state. Curiouser and curiouser. I confirmed this solution through spawning 10 high level OBIS bandits around us (my other followers were pretty mad, but tough sweet rolls). The trouble is, it's pretty disruptive to spawn a powerful bandit gang in the middle of a dungeon to have them pummel the living crap out of my intrepid band and who knows who else just to get one follower moving again. So, I finally hit on this solution and tested it successfully just now. My solution, for anyone who might find it useful: When a follower goes non-responsive, leave him there and do these steps when you have an opportunity. You can also use Jaxonz Positioner to pick him up and just keep him in your inventory until you're ready. 1. Find an area where you can isolate the problem follower and teleport him or her into that area. I'm using the livestock pen at Elysium Estate. Lead your other followers out of the area, and block the area so your followers can't get in and the enemy you're about to spawn in there can't get out. I use the console to lock the gates on the livestock pen. Another method is to use something like Jaxonz Positioner to move an object to block off the area. 2. Set your followers to Aggression > Passive in the EFF menu, and make sure they're set to Essential. 3. Place the problem follower in the isolation area by teleport (Jaxonz Positioner also works). Lead your functioning followers out of the area, then block it. Our problem follower in this case is the ever-recalcitrant Ciara. 3. Toggle God Mode in the console, enter the isolation area, and spawn a strong enemy using the player.placeatme command. In this case, I chose the ferocious Barbary Lion from the great mod Animallica. Seriously, make sure whatever you spawn can't get out. 4. Jump out of the isolation area so the enemy goes after the problem follower. We'll watch from the loft while the ferocious Barbary Lion mauls his prey. 5. The antagonist should knock the problem follower into the essential NPC bleedout state. When the follower goes down, use the kill console command to kill the antagonist. Wait for the follower to recover, unblock the isolation area, and see if the follower will follow you out. 6. If the follower is working again, problem solved. If not, block the area again and use the resurrect console command on the antagonist for another round until it works. Maybe this will work consistently, maybe it won't. I'm sure I'll get a lot of practice. I hope this helps anyone who is having this same issue. 5. Hi everyone, My followers stop following. I've tried the console commands listed in troubleshooting, but all they did was make Jenassa lose all her dialogue options and mumble soundlessly. Now and then a follower will get beaten down by a bandit or animal and start following again, but usually they just recover and keep not following. I have about 5 followers, Jenassa and 4 more from Familiar Faces. I usually play until about level 20 and then 1 or more of them just shuts off and stops following. This time all of them did it. I haven't changed mod setup and the only other follower affecting mods I have are Familiar Faces and MHIYH (and Multiple Floors Sandboxing, I guess, and Wildcat Combat AI). I've tried these actions many times: - EFF troubleshooting console commands and EFF system cleaning - disable/enable, resurrect, recycle actor, summon/resummon in Familiar Faces - savegame cleaning / stop active threads with PDT Wrapper - starting a new playthrough - player.kill command to free memory - using script-light mods - and of course searching online for solutions I don't know what else to do. EFF is one of the mods that make Skyrim worth playing, and if anyone has any fixes or solutions, I would appreciate it. P.S. I've tried Amazing Follower Tweaks, which is a great mod, but I started having a lot more CTDs with it when I tried it to deal with this problem. I have also posted this issue in EFF's mod thread, but I'm reposting it here to reach more people who might know of a fix. Thanks!
  6. Well, wouldn't you know it. I found a... SOLUTION: The issue was Basveneu's Texture Changer, which would give bodies different details at different weights. What it was doing was forcing one of its textures over the follower textures even though the follower plugins were lower down the load order and should have taken priority. I figured this out by deleting all a follower's textures. Her face, hands and feet appeared purple, as expected, but her body was still a distorted texture. Then I knew it had nothing to do with the follower mod, and I figured it out from there. So, now I'm on the hunt for a replacement texture pack.
  7. Hi everyone, Here's the issue: When I use a custom follower, like Capri for example, they don't use the body textures that they came with. This happens on multiple unconnected follower mods. They all just use the standard player textures. The followers are showing up in game, but their body textures are screwed up. I've tried checking the filepaths, copy-pasting the texture files directly into the mod folder in Mod Organizer, searching for textures compatible with the follower's body mesh and pasting those in, but nothing changes. I still just get the standard player texture which Skyrim uses for everyone in the game. When the follower's body mesh is the same as the player's, there's just a tolerable color mismatch, but when the follower has a different body mesh, then the texture is distorted and terrible. My skyrim.ini is set the Archive Invalidation 1, so that's activated, and Mod Organizer isn't giving me any warnings about overwrites. One follower that has the correct textures is Promise. I don't know why, I installed that mod just like all the others. Any fixes?
  8. I'd also recommend the cleanmem and core unparking from the Skyrim Stability and Performance guide. Also, Skyrim likes to CTD as much as you like to play Skyrim, and it will take any excuse to do so. I was having some difficult CTD problems with my latest mod lineup: A poorly scripted mining mod caused me to CTD when it couldn't assign scripts to ore deposits or actors who were mining. An armor mod for whatever reason caused me to CTD when entering some inns. A storage mod caused me to lose functionality for all crafting stations. I still can't get the oven to work, but screw it.
  9. Hi, This is just my unscientific opinion from my own experience, but try: SafetyLoad http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/46465/? and Load Game CTD Fix http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/85443/? if you are not already using these. I used to have infinite loading screens until I started using SafetyLoad, so I keep it around. I would also recommend using Optimized Vanilla Textures http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/57353/? because Bethesda's HD packs aren't very efficient and place an unnecessary burden on your VRAM. Hope this helps.
  10. Have you disabled screen blood splatter? That can cause world map crashes.
  11. Yes, I've seen that, except it was raining mammoths, and sometimes a hapless person would fall from the sky. I think it has to do with the game engine working too hard so it doesn't place people correctly when it spawns them. Do you have a lot of script heavy mods?
  12. I used to get the Helicopter Cart. I would go into console and toggle free cam to see what it was doing. It was whirling around like helicopter blades attached to a horse's butt. It swirled around all the way into the courtyard, where it killed General Tullius, the executioner, and half the people in Helgen. I was left alone. "Guys? Guys?? Is anyone left alive!!" So I'm standing there because the scene can't progress, and the dragon shows up and does his thing, and leaves. I had to quit the game, but at least it was interesting.
  13. Ok, I've been having these problems: Random CTDs in the wilderness. CTD entering the Whiterun exterior cell. CTD entering the Whiterun cell closer to where the fast travel cart waits. CTD entering the Whiterun gates and last but not least, CTD entering the Bannered Mare. I'm using Realvision ENB, with correct ENB files. I've implemented all the techniques in the Skyrim Stability and Performance guide, including ini tweaks for skyrim, skyrim prefs, and enb, and helping software like cleanmem and unpark cores. Ran the enb VRAM tool and set my ini accordingly. I'm using cleaned vanilla game masters. I replaced my texture mods with their performance versions. I've optimized my textures and installed the optimized vanilla HD texture mod from Nexus. I installed: SKSE Memory Fix Crash Fixes Safety Load (it's supposed to be unnecessary now, but I like to have it around) Load Game CTD Fix FISS I've checked my papyrus error log, and removed a mining mod which I think caused CTDs whenever I entered a cell with an ore deposit, because it couldn't assign scripts to the ore deposits or actors using them. This seems to have eliminated the CTD entering Whiterun and the random wilderness crashes. Two down. I started eliminating mods mentioned in the papyrus log before the game crashed. I ended up taking out a lot of mods I've been using successfully for a long time, like FNIS Sexy Move. The papyrus log stopped showing crash errors, it would just show VM freeze, Save Game, VM Thawing and VM Thawing was the last thing in the log. (I would save before trying to enter a trouble spot). I eliminated Skyrim Unbound and went back to Live Another Life, which I've used successfully for a long time. With every change, I run LOOT then start a new game to test. I stopped bothering to make a TESVedit merge and a bashed patch, because I played successfully without them for many months, and in this current issue they didn't seem to be making a difference. I verified my game cache earlier in the process, but now I'm reinstalling the vanilla game in case there was a corrupted file in there somewhere. My framerate is capped by ENB at 58, and it would vary between the mid 50s when scampering through the forest, then dip down into the 40s for Riverwood, then back to 50s, then down to 40s for the giant battle near Whiterun, then back to 50s approaching the Whiterun city gate. In my last few tests I've been able to get through the Whiterun city gate, so probably three down. The Bannered Mare is the last holdout. The mods I have which could be affecting the Bannered Mare are: Immersive Wenches Evittalex Retouched NPCs The Ordinary Women Decent Women Bijin Wives, Warmaidens, and NPCs, and the customizer mods for them. I made it all the way to the doorstep of the Bannered Mare, and the game CTD on the loading screen to enter it. Skyrim performance monitor shows VRAM at about 3000MB at the time of the crash during the loading screen, up from 2700MB standing outside. I also get this error in the console: "Warning: access to non-existing object with id 0x2B3" I've run out of ideas. If anyone has any advice, that would be great. EDIT: SOLUTION FOUND: It was an armor mod, Armonizer and/or Armonizer Workshop. I don't know why it was caused me to CTD trying to enter the Bannered Mare, but when I deactivated it I had no problems entering the Bannered Mare, and I played for hours with only 2 crashes. I discovered this by activating my load order mod by mod, one at a time and attempting to enter the Bannered Mare each time. Yes, it took hours. Then I turned that mod on again and off again to confirm.
  14. Here is my second search. The mod I am looking for is an NPC overhaul mod. It changed Hulda, Delphine, and women like that. I know for certain that the .esp file was sky ladies.esp It's definitely not the SKY Girls series, or one of the Bijin mods, Ordinary Women, the Babes mods or NPCs of Dibella, It seemed like an older mod and it gave Irileth horrible shaggy red hair.
  15. Yes! Yes! Yes! That's the one! I must have installed it as a requirement for another mod in my previous build. Thanks!
  16. Hopefully this is not too obscure. I had a mod installed, I don't know which one it was, but... When I would open the console with ~ and click on a character or an item, I could press the Tab and bring up an info panel for that object. On the right side of the screen it would show the name of the object, the ID and the Form ID, and which .esp file it was from. On the left side of the screen it would show a big info panel about a NPCs stats. This was very useful for identifying which .esp files had broken resources. Does anyone know which mod this was?
  17. You've probably tried everything, but I get the look in my screenshots above with the following mods; Realvision ENB Navetsea textures in the Basvenbeu texture changer http://www.nexusmods...rim/mods/6554/? No More Blocky Faces Bretonnia Preset http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/35678/? Children of Skyrim New Nord Presets http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/21184/?tab=3&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmodimages%2F%3Fuser%3D0%26id%3D21184 and a ton of hair mods including SG Hairpack 268 (google it, not on nexus) and KS Hairdos (any version) The Eyes of Beauty Always give them freckles or something on the complexion slider, it makes them look so much more normal than the barbie doll super smooth textures. Check the brightness in your game settings (sorry if you've already done this simple stuff, I'm just trying to think of everything). Check the color saturation on your ENB. ENBs can do strange things like make cheese turn orange and make grasses and bushes turn bizarre colors. Try different settings if possible. It can make a huge difference. I used to use Realistic Lighting Overhaul, but that didn't make a difference for how my characters looked in racemenu. Making beautiful characters is completely within your grasp. With the right skin texture, those Nord and Bretonnia presets, and KS Hairdos you will make beautiful characters in 10 minutes. It really is about getting the right textures and the right ENB settings.
  18. I think you need the whole folder, because the esp is looking for those resources in that folder. I haven't used mod merge in a while, so i can't say definitely, but i do remember that merging mods breaks dependencies.
  19. I recommend Skyfall Estate. it's lore friendly, has a merchant who works there, there's a buildable edition, but most importantly is the themed storage smithing area. When you use the forge, sharpening wheel, smelter or tanning rack your materials automatically load to your inventory from a special storage barrel and return to the barrel when you're done.
  20. Hi everyone, I'm attempting learn about the creation kit with my first mod, an underground player house. One entrance will be in one part of Whiterun and the other entrance will at a spot outside the city walls, and I want the interior cell space to be at least semi-realistic with tunnels leading approximately to those locations. How do I figure out / guesstimate the distance so it will seem reasonable to the player? Any tips?
  21. I'm no expert, but looking at your screenshots, my humble opinion is that you should try a different skin texture. Finding one you like makes all the difference. When I was trying out different skin textures, the same character would go from beautiful to horrifying to weird just with different textures. The textures I ended up keeping were the Navetsea textures in Basvanbeu body changer. NSFW! http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/6554/? Here are some suggestions, depending on which body model you're using (vanilla, CBBE, UNP, ADEC...) Mature Skin Texture Fair Skin Complexion Real Girls Realistic Texture And some better male textures so all the guys in the game don't look horrible. It's a real improvement. SkySight Skins - Male Textures and Real Feet Textures Examples I made these just with sliders because I didn't know how to sculpt yet. In Racemenu, I used a little bit of the Face Weight slider and a little of the Extras sliders to give their faces an even proportional rounded look. Bony faces are more masculine because testosterone makes the bones grow thicker and heavier. The freckles and natural skin came from using the complexion slider with the navetsea textures. Anyway, I hope these suggestions help and good luck!
  22. Yes, thanks modders! You made Skyrim a whole new game, time and time again.
  23. Thanks Ledd, I did check and uncheck the 360 controller setting, but to no avail, and my keybindings were correct. Now, I'm not sure about Sticky Keys, but I think the issue had something to do with a similar Windows setting. I was trying to install some software, and what do you know, the same problem!! That was proof positive it was NOT a Skyrim or modding issue. I searched high and low, and found it was likely a Windows ease of accessibility setting, Filter Keys. I checked those settings, and none of them were set, but the shortcut was to hold the SHIFT key for 8 seconds. Possible Solution: I held the SHIFT key for 8 to 10 seconds anyway, and that supposedly turned off Filter Keys even though the Filter Keys box was not checked. For anyone having this issue, press Start, search for Filter Keys, check your settings, and then press and hold the SHIFT key for 10 seconds. My Skyrim now works :D and I and my 19 followers are hiding out in a sea cave before going on to confront the Blackblood Pirates!
  24. Yesterday... Skyrim was such an easy game to play... Now I just want to hide away... Because my keyboards controls won't work... Since yesterday.... Hi everyone, Yesterday Skyrim was working fine. Now, the game loads fine, and seems ok except for one thing: My keyboard controls won't work, except for the keys around the edges. WASD, the spacebar, and the other letter keys won't work. ESC, CTRL, ALT, SHIFT and the Windows/Start key work just fine. When I hold down Windows/Start key, the CTRL key, or the ALT key, the WASD keys and spacebar work just fine (so it's not a keyboard issue). I didn't add, remove or update any mods. The only thing which was unusual was that I started Skyrim through SKSE - Mod Organizer without starting Steam first. It asked me if I wanted to start Steam, I clicked no, then exited the Skyrim launcher which came up. I started Steam, and I think Steam updated (I wasn't paying attention), I started Skyrim through SKSE-Mod Organizer. The save game loaded fine, but the WASD/keyboard controls now won't work. I went into my ini files and made sure the Gamepad settings were set to 0. I restarted Mod Organizer, Steam, started a new game, but even with a new game the problem was still there. Since there is keyboard input (ESC, CTRL, ALT, SHIFT) ingame, and all the keys work just fine when I'm not in Skyrim, I don't think it's a keyboard issue. Think it has to be some kind of obscure Skyrim or Steam setting. Can anyone give me any advice? Thanks!
