NorthBow
After browsing and searching a lot around the internet, I decided to post my problem here.First, I really love Skyrim: I play it on PC on "medium" settings without freezes etc. As you know, Skyrim's world looks really great. But a lot of times I see this:http://upload.pokefans.net/m51_63zqiz8d5.jpgAs you can see, this tree isn't rendered at all. I can even walk through it, not to talk of the look.I really want to eliminate this problem because it's very VERY annoying. To get rid of this and get normal-looking trees I have to save and reload. After that, everything is normal again...I already tried some tweaks in the skyrimprefs.ini file (such as tree distance, max rendered trees) but it didn't help. I also tried Vurt's flora overhaul (seemed to help a LITTLE bit but I had performance loss) and lush grass and trees, which didn't help at all (this picture is made using lush trees.)I hope you can help me. In my eyes the problem is that the game doesn't load further details of the trees as I get nearer to them but leaves them as if they were far away. Help please! Georgiegril
I think you are having artifacting, but it might be something due to your setting changes.Do you ONLY have this sort of problem with trees? Is it trees anywhere, or just around Riften? What happens if you put your game on the lowest settings? (Everything on Low/none, all distance sliders to the left, no FXAA or AO) Please post your pref.ini file (copy/paste, enclose in spoiler tags--they are in the pull-down menu of the 3rd icon to the left on the top toolbar)And your computer specs (Processor, CPU RAM, Graphics Card and driver version, VRAM)Finally your BOSS log (again, copy/paste the text file version, enclose in spoilers)
NorthBow
Thanks for the quick answer. The problem is with all trees, not just around Riften, and it can also happen to stones. I only have to walk around a bit and the trees appear in low quality. This also happes if I click "low" in the graphic options. My SkyrimPrefs.ini file (Documents/My Games/Skyrim): [General]fBrightLightColorB=1.0000fBrightLightColorG=1.0000fBrightLightColorR=1.0000iStoryManagerLoggingEvent=-1bEnableStoryManagerLogging=0[imagespace]bDoDepthOfField=1[Display]iBlurDeferredShadowMask=5fInteriorShadowDistance=3000.0000fShadowDistance=2500.0000iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=1024iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048iShadowSplitCount=2iMaxAnisotropy=8fLeafAnimDampenDistEnd=4600.0000fLeafAnimDampenDistStart=3600.0000fTreesMidLODSwitchDist=3600.0000fGamma=1.0000fDecalLOD2=1500.0000fDecalLOD1=1000.0000fSpecularLODStartFade=500.0000fShadowLODStartFade=200.0000fLightLODStartFade=1000.0000iTexMipMapMinimum=0iTexMipMapSkip=0iWaterMultiSamples=0iMultiSample=0iShadowMode=3bTreesReceiveShadows=0bDrawLandShadows=0bFull Screen=0iSize H=900iSize W=1600fMeshLODFadePercentDefault=1.2000fMeshLODFadeBoundDefault=256.0000fMeshLODLevel2FadeTreeDistance=2048.0000fMeshLODLevel1FadeTreeDistance=2844.0000fMeshLODLevel2FadeDist=3072.0000fMeshLODLevel1FadeDist=4096.0000iScreenShotIndex=2bShadowMaskZPrepass=0bMainZPrepass=0iMaxSkinDecalsPerFrame=3iMaxDecalsPerFrame=10bFloatPointRenderTarget=0sD3DDevice="NVIDIA GeForce 210 "[Grass]b30GrassVS=0fGrassStartFadeDistance=3500.0000fGrassMaxStartFadeDistance=7000.0000fGrassMinStartFadeDistance=0.0000[MAIN]bGamepadEnable=1bCrosshairEnabled=1fHUDOpacity=1.000bSaveOnPause=1bSaveOnTravel=1bSaveOnWait=1bSaveOnRest=1[GamePlay]bShowFloatingQuestMarkers=1bShowQuestMarkers=1iDifficulty=2[interface]bDialogueSubtitles=0bGeneralSubtitles=0[Controls]fGamepadHeadingSensitivity=1.0000fMouseHeadingSensitivity=0.0125bAlwaysRunByDefault=1bInvertYValues=0bGamePadRumble=1bMouseAcceleration=1[Particles]iMaxDesired=750[saveGame]fAutosaveEveryXMins=15.0000[AudioMenu]fAudioMasterVolume=1.0000fVal7=1.0000uID7=0fVal6=1.0000uID6=0fVal5=1.0000uID5=0fVal4=1.0000uID4=0fVal3=1.0000uID3=0fVal2=0.4000uID2=466532fVal1=1.0000uID1=554685fVal0=0.8000uID0=1007612[Clouds]fCloudLevel2Distance=262144.0000fCloudLevel1Distance=32768.0000fCloudLevel0Distance=16384.0000fCloudNearFadeDistance=9000.0000[TerrainManager]fTreeLoadDistance=25000.0000fBlockMaximumDistance=100000.0000fBlockLevel1Distance=32768.0000fBlockLevel0Distance=20480.0000fSplitDistanceMult=0.7500bShowLODInEditor=0[NavMesh]fObstacleAlpha=0.5000fCoverSideHighAlpha=0.8000fCoverSideLowAlpha=0.6500fEdgeFullAlpha=1.0000fEdgeHighAlpha=0.7500fEdgeLowAlpha=0.5000fTriangleFullAlpha=0.7000fTriangleHighAlpha=0.3500fTriangleLowAlpha=0.2000fLedgeBoxHalfHeight=25.0000fEdgeDistFromVert=10.0000fEdgeThickness=10.0000fPointSize=2.5000[Trees]bRenderSkinnedTrees=1uiMaxSkinnedTreesToRender=20[Decals]uMaxDecals=100[LOD]fLODFadeOutMultObjects=5.0000fLODFadeOutMultItems=3.0000fLODFadeOutMultActors=6.0000[Launcher]bEnableFileSelection=1 Here are my computer specs: Processor: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3800+ 2,41 GHz2,75 GB RAMGC: NVIDIA GeForce 210 1024 MB DDR3Driver: GeForce 301.42 WHQL - [r301_07-67] Not the best PC and already some years old. I additionaly use TimerResolution, FPS Background Booster and Skyrim Optimization Project to run the game smoother, but the tree problem already existed earlier when I played on low settings without the named programs. Finally, I don't know what my BOSS log is...(I'm not the great PC expert  ) But if you tell me I'll post it here. Maybe I should add that I once installed x360c on Skyrim (this emulation thing for controllers) but I don't use it anymore. Don't know if this has anything to do with that. Georgiegril
If you are not using BOSS, that might be your problem. It optimizes your load order. The BOSS log will give you important information about conflicts, missing masterfiles, and other things.BOSS is a normal program, not a mod.Download BOSS here. Choose the GUI version. After installing, choose the text file option for your BOSS log.Run BOSS, read the log and address all/any messages, although at this moment you may be able to ignore the TES5Edit messages. Also the messages about Bashtags is only for people using Wrye BAsh.After you take care of all the messages, rerun BOSS to make sure. There will be a lost on unrecognized mods. You will need to hand place them in your load order as instructed by the mod author. If that information is not on the mod page, then try placing with similar mods (house mods with other house mods, for example) Your drivers are several updates behind. Updating these may also solve your problem. Do not use Windows driver update, but rather, do a complete clean reinstall of your drivers, since a corrupt install of your old drivers may also be the problem. If you do not know how to do that, follow this guide. If none of the above solves your problem, you might try adjusting some of your settings:Your graphics card is not a gaming card. You need, in general, to look for tweaks decrease the load on your card, not overextend it.I have a 9800GT, so though my card performs better than yours, the settings might prove a useful starting place. (Edit: do not forget to back up your prefs.ini file before making any changes)Your leaf settings can be lowered:fLeafAnimDampenDistEnd=500.0000fLeafAnimDampenDistStart=0.0000fTreesMidLODSwitchDist=3600.0000 Your terrain settings are far too high. This is what I use, though you may want to adjust somewhat.fTreeLoadDistance=12500.0000fBlockMaximumDistance=75000.0000fBlockLevel1Distance=25000.0000 You also seem to be missing some lines in your decals section: (this is mine)uMaxDecals=50 (note this is cut in half from yours)bDecals=1bSkinnedDecals=1uMaxSkinDecals=20uMaxSkinDecalsPerActor=15fBlockLevel0Distance=15000.0000fSplitDistanceMult=0.4000 These settings of yours :bFull Screen=0iSize H=900iSize W=1600 Are you using the native resolution of your monitor? If not, you should change that to the native resolution. Also, if you are playing in windowed mode, that may be causing problems as well. Finally, if you are using anything but the default 5 ugrids, you will want to go back to the default.

Should solve my problem, at least I hope.

Anyway, thx

Edit: I updatet my graphics card's driver to the latest version, and it works fine now!

Trees far away are not rendered, as it should be - but as I come nearer to them they just load their rendered textures.

Thanks so, so much!! Now I'll play Skyrim just enjoying myself.

Edit2: I'll do the ini tweaks as well to increase my framerate and so.
Edited May 27, 2013 by NorthBow
