FillipeMattos
Hello guys, first sorry for my english, this is not my native language. I think it's fun to be installing mods in the game, but lately I've noticed that many people have reported problems as a result. Some mods may come into conflict with others and generate headaches, can even cause CTDs and the game freezing if mismanaged. Therefore, I believe that to avoid incompatibility issues, we should encourage mod's developers to create increasingly patches for compatibility with your mods, making them compatible with the largest number of mods possible. To me, it should be a mandatory requirement. The CTD problems usually happen because of mods mismanaged. The user may have dozens of mods installed, but often these mods may be conflicting, many people still have difficulty in identifying conflicts, especially beginners. The compatibility patch provided by the creators of the mods should be one of the mandatory requirements of the Nexus, at least in my opinion. Each mod for smaller and simpler it is, should be accompanied with a compatibility patch would be made available on the author's page, that would solve most of the problems of conflict. What do you think of the idea? Edited May 27, 2013 by FillipeMattos
Deleted4868880User
Wouldn't be worthwhile, as there a thousands of mods on the skyrim nexus. The developers would just end up making compatibility patches instead of working on the mods themselves. Its up to the user to be smart and to think 'oh X mod changes this person, and so does Y mod, so they won't be compatible'
Aenyalu
With the abundance of mods out there, this is simply not possible to make a compatibility patch for every single setup. A mod should run nicely with the vanilla version; if the modder decides to make it compatible with a popular mod that is great, but making something like this mandatory would just cause people not to mod anymore, since they are doing it in their free time. If people ruin their game by just blindly installing anything they think is cool, they will have to decide which mod they prefer and get rid of the conflicting one. Or they could always learn to mod themselves and create such a patch on their own.
FillipeMattos
It's a shame really. I think creating a compatibility patch and manage mods is something that requires a lot of time and knowledge among users. Those knowing Skyrim now and entering the world of mods will have to have a little patience in order to learn it. We should make life easier for them. It is our mission as developers. rhowington
Most newer mods list incompatibility issues. Older mods or abandoned ones do not and probably will never. For instance, and I am not criticizing because it is a great mod, a lot of folks still use Beller Females by Bella. I do not because there can be issues with it that has to be fixed in CK. There are others that I won't take the time to name that haven't been updated since 2011. I don't use these either unless they have a specific file I want for a modded character. On the other hand both old and newer mods can contain dirty edits which you need to clean with TESVedit for stability but, that is easy enough. One last thing, BOSS is a great program for ordering your mods however, it does not always do the job for your personal load order and you may have to deviate from it just to get a stable game. The BOSS team is so overwhelmed at the moment that mistakes can happen.
Georgiegril
30,000 + mods. And you want each mod to be compatible with all the others? And maintain that when any of the 30,000 mods update, as well as add compatibility for new mods as they appear? You do see that this is absurd, I hope. The responsibility properly lies with the user, to read carefully everything offered about every mod he or she is considering, and to learn about his or her computer enough to make informed and reasonable decisions, creating what is essentially a personalized game patch tailored for his/her own game and computer. FillipeMattos
There is a place here in the forum posts where they teach to create compatibility patch?
Georgiegril
NO I am saying that as you decide to thoughtfully add mods, considering all the mods you already have and your specific computer resources, your mod list becomes, in essence, a compatibility patch. Because you have made your mod collection compatible through your careful effort.

Because you have made your mod collection compatible through your careful effort.I never thought of it this way. That's a good way of putting it Georgiegril! I think the best idea is how it's being handled now, mod authors being made aware of incompatibilities and they choose if they want to make a patch or not.
