iaa05
ok... i will cut to the chase. the tilde button wont open the console. i press it and nothing happened... i have been searching for days to a solution but nothing i try wil work... i have vista and have diabled the Media Centre thing... i have looked though the ini file but didnt find anything about the console... i have plugged an old keyboard (Brittish style) in and still nothing. would it be the fact that i am running it on to a laptop? i had the same problems with morrowind but i managed to remamp the key. is there omething i could use that will do that for oblivion? Do you have an infrared remote receiver active? Unplug it while you're playing oblivion, then. If not, make sure your oblivion.ini in your games folder has the line bAllowConsole=1 (not 0) No guarantees of course, but somewhere to start. nosisab
if you have the console enabled in the ini, the key you want is whatever is above the TAB one, most of times the key at the left of the 1.
iaa05
i have checked the ini file. there is no reference to the console. i am looking in the file named oblivion_defult. oh and the keyboard is brittish but i thoaght the fact that it is a laptop and the keyboard is more compact. would that have anything to do with it? Wrong one. Check my first reply, where I said make sure your oblivion.ini in your games folder has the line bAllowConsole=1 Not your Bethesda\Oblivion folder , but your Games folder, usually in your personal documents folder (in XP "My Documents\My Games", in Vista "Users\user\documents\games" I believe.) The document is named "Oblivion.ini", and it's a good idea to create a safe backup copy before you make changes to it. After that you should be all set. bben46
Nearly all laptops have the infrared port turned on by default. You need to go into the BIOS or system settings to disable it. For some reason Microsoft uses some of the resources needed by the ~ key for the IR port. Or use a mod called Ring of Console http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13133
