Who doesn't care about the CW?

I dunno..i think it adds flavor to the setting. I think they made it a point not to make it have a huge impact on the game. you don't want to completely wipe certain hub cities off the map after all.

the CW sets the stage for the beginning scene. (or perhaps you do?)

they do make the empire appear evil

any game where you see an oganization called the "empire" or the "dominion" it is always portrayed as evil.

the thalmor do piss me off and I was going to join the stormcloaks...

but seeing the stormcloaks ideal kind of bugs me... they think Nords are some sort of "master race" and that skyrim needs to be ethnically cleansed of all the other races...sound familiar? the thalmor also hold this ideal the only difference is they think the altmer are the master race...

dunmers are like... the african americans of the elder scrolls...and the argonians have it just as bad.

I did find one book full of anti-orc hate propaganda as well

bosmers just kind of sit on the sidelines...does anyone actually play a bosmer? (animal friendship...)

so...in my opinion including the CW does add flavor, it adds to the lore, and I would rather have it in there than not have it in there.

it is not essential and has no impact on the main game which suits me just fine...although I probably will pick a side eventually just to do everything

You're stuffed either way with the Civil War - the Stormcloaks are sort of sympathetic, but highly conservative and short-sighted racists operating under the sunk-cost fallacy, whereas the Empire is a crumbling regime becoming more and more oppressive under pressure from the Thalmor that is dragging every province down with it. If When the Thalmor attack again, Skyrim wouldn't survive alone (Stormcloaks) but then neither would the Empire with Skyrim having taken a beating from the War (Imperials), not to mention that not worshipping Talos could unmake the world.

If someone would make a mod, that changes the CW into war where you drive out the aldmeri dominion/empire out of skyrim with out some nord rasim against other races. But the vanilla CW sucs. This is the counsequinse of launced too early, when the game was not even finished. Bad bethesda >:(

Ulfric is NOT Hitler. Honestly, I HATE how in both real life and fiction, whenever you want to belittle someone without any real evidence whatsoever, you compare them to Hitler. You want to compare Ulfric to someone? Try the Founding Fathers of the United States of America. They fought and won a nearly hopeless war for freedom against an oppressive empire... While oppressing other people to do so (I often compare the Forsworn to the Native Americans).

They are not more racist than the Imperials. Ever been to Leyawiin? Stormcloaks are known to not allow beastkin to operate shops in their cities, but the Imperial court of Leyawiin keeps beastkin in cities, specifically their torture chambers.

Also, going back to the Founding Fathers of the United States, Thomas Jefferson was known as his liberal views against slavery, but here is what he wrote about blacks:

They secrete less by the kidnies, and more by the glands of the skin, which gives them a very strong and disagreeable odour. This greater degree of transpiration renders them more tolerant of heat, and less so of cold, than the whites. Perhaps too a difference of structure in the pulmonary apparatus, which a late ingenious experimentalist has discovered to be the principal regulator of animal heat, may have disabled them from extricating, in the act of inspiration, so much of that fluid from the outer air, or obliged them in expiration, to part with more of it. They seem to require less sleep. A black, after hard labour through the day, will be induced by the slightest amusements to sit up till midnight, or later, though knowing he must be out with the first dawn of the morning. They are at least as brave, and more adventuresome. But this may perhaps proceed from a want of forethought, which prevents their seeing a danger till it be present. When present, they do not go through it with more coolness or steadiness than the whites. They are more ardent after their female: but love seems with them to be more an eager desire, than a tender delicate mixture of sentiment and sensation.

Yes, historically, people known for being not racist were actually rather racist.

Basically, they're hypocrites. It's like saying you hate magic despite being a master wizard.

Who? The Empire, the Stormcloaks, the US Founding Fathers, or all of the above?

Any and/or everyone?

Which means technically, we're doomed either way.
