Bows-Arrows

First off, tried to find a topic related to this but couldn't, if there is one i apologize.

I recently started a new character whos main prof. is an assassin, which means I have marksman as a main skill. Now my marksman skill is level 56 at the moment so i'm not that unknown to it, but i would like to know whats the relation between bows and the different arrows.

I figure bonemold arrows are better than chitin arrows, mainly because they cost more, but there are no stats on the arrows to prove they're better. Or is it that to use your bow effectively you need to have its corresponding arrow, for example: bonemold bow with bone arrows, steel bow with steel arrows.

This isn't causing a problem with my character at the moment, but i'm just curious.

More expensive/powerful arrows = more damage, just like with weapons. All the way up to daedric, but there's too few of them in the game to use them. And the bow/arrow match doesn't matter at all.

I'd also like to point out that unless you have silver or enchanted arrows (maybe you could use Daedric) you can't do any damage to ghosts or Daedra. Also the higher quality the arrow, the more capacity it has for enchantment. I too am interested in this relation because my newest themed character is the assassin type and I thought it was the type of bow that determines the damage.

[/sadly, part of my rehab regiment]

It is the type of bow that is the main factor in damage. The arrow acts as a multiplier/bonus damage that adds to the bow. So a daedric bow will do more damage with daedric arrows than steel ones, but both will do more damage than a chitin bow no matter what arrow it uses.

And arrow enchantment points are irrelevant, since you can't enchant arrows.

Arrows also have a flight path - the trajectory of the arrow is actually modelled in game to an extent. Chitin is the worst, and Daedric the best of course as in other things - but you actually have to use a windage factor at long range [bloody cliff racers for one] and drop your arrow - you can actually SEE the flight path.

Better arrows means a more direct flight path - they will basically hit where the crosshair points. Others will hit lower, and the farther off, the lower thus requiring a bit of skill from the player.

well, assassin's needn't worry about arrows or bolts, their marksman skill is there so they can use throwing stars and darts.

I'm sorry, but i'm not going to trust something that maxes out at 7 damage to give me a one hit kill, and a one hit kill is what an assassin needs.
