IPS Driver error

What needs to happen are more premium memberships. The membership is growing at a much faster rate than premium membership.

So the site is experiencing higher bandwidth, less return on ads for those that do not purchase a premium and a smaller rate of premium accounts. There is also the issue that Dark0ne is not always available to tweak the server configuration based on site usage.

It would be nice if the sites could be configured where premium users could utilize a better server to almost guarantee no problems due to being "too busy" but I think that would be an even more costly scenario that the site could not afford.

As far as site design, I think Dark0ne has a very good balance between form vs function. I have seen him numerous times tweaking the system based on graphics displayed, page bandwidth, query-timing, click-throughs, etc.

Yeah, I've been getting them here frequently as well. Even one of my forum members from USF which is Shademaster21 a.k.a. Ulan Shadowstrike complained about it.

IPS Driver Errors are normally caused by a broken PHP file, although they can be caused by server load in some cases; however, most of the time connections simply time out. Board performance is a bit poor here compared to what I'm used to, but that could be remedied if the SQL tables are optimized. It's a rather simple fix that root admins can do in the ACP, and if it hasn't been done before it will do quite a bit for getting stuff up-to-date.

Of course, I wouldn't expect this to fix the errors completely. It would increase performance, and thus decrease the chances of errors. Alleviating all the problems would require quite a bit of work. More work that I'd ever recommend someone do.

EDITED IN: Oh yeah, one last thing. If you haven't used the SQL toolbox to optimize the tables ever and have plans to do so, I'd HIGHLY recommend shutting the boards down for a bit if you do. On top of that, don't work on the table that holds the post data, at least not initially.

EDITED IN AGAIN: I noticed that the IPS Driver Error happens on the member page. That would be completely file-related if it happens each time you load that page. Upgrading to a newer version of IPB would get you some files back, possibly fixing the one that would be corrupted.

I just got premium the other day (because downloading at 100kb/s on a 10mb/s line makes me cry, lol) and like it. Would it be possible to give premium members priority access to the SQL server? Im sure more people would pay to see this problem go away.

Would it maybe be possible to set it up so that, in the event the server has a large amount of users, when a page loads, the very first SQL query is to find out if that member is premium, and if it is they are the page correctly loads. Otherwise if the member isn't premium and their are alot of current users, then the page should stop loading and redirect to an error page?

This would in my opinion, make it somewhat better and at the same time give members a reason to get premium.
