Hearthfire Homes Mod question

Hi, I found this Hearthfire mod
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/42982

and in the description it says
"
This Mod aims to make the three manors from Hearthfire "truly
yours" by doing the following:

- setting all Heartfire Manors (including the cellars) as No-Reset-Zones, so you can outfit your home with everything you like without having it removed after some time"

got curious about " setting all Heartfire Manors (including the cellars) as No-Reset-Zones " what does it mean? are the vanilla Heartfire Manors do reset? I remember putting clutters/trophy items in the past but it doesn't reset. . so What does it mean?

many player homes have autoreset on the pre-assembled interior assets. Ie, you knock over a loaf of bread from a table or a plate from a shelf, go away for a while and come back, and voila it's back where it was. (or you unload a barrel that has three carrots in it or augment its content). So if you were to clear a shelf of its original items and place things there, or add stuff to a "fish barrel or an unamend veggie barrel, when the autoreset cycle occurs, your stuff will vanish and be replaced or otherwise disturbed by what was originally there.

tbh, I'm not sure. once upon a time I though I could use the barrels for veggie storage, dumping quite large quantities in from my gardens. later, when I went to get a bunch (potatoes, carrots, leeks for stews) they had vanished and instead, the default items and quantities (3 here 5 there etc) were in evidence. I muttered many fouls words and moved on , vowing to never try that again.

Hi, thank you for the answers, but Im still confused. . also referring to the Vanilla Heartfire Manor, Im not using any mod that alters it and it seems my home is a non reset zone by default. . I did the whole Dawnguard storyline without going back home and when I did my items are still there and everything is perfectly intact, so Im really confused whats the purpose of the mod. . .

I learned from the lakeview property, which was my first "major" home (ie where I started dropping stuff off). I'm not talking about using the chests, I mean the other things one might not normally consider storage items but a newbie might (ie barrels for instance). I lost quite a bit of inventory (food mainly, and quite a bit of Nord brew) by presuming they'd be there when I got back. YMMV I guess.

IN any case, my overall explanation still stands.

Answer this (for yourself, I need no answer): Why else would there be such a mod?

It is less about the contents of containers being wiped than it is about items placed manually with the in-game drop, grab and place method. Anything moved to make room for such placement would be restored after some time away (default 30 days). And anything placed in such a method would find itself gone from the game.

While the HF homes are not in the NoResetZone by default, most containers used in the homes are not flagged to respawn. Items dropped in a container, barrel, chest, wardrobe, etc should be safe for the most part. But that doesn't mean that a respawning version wasn't placed by accident or added by a mod.

The HF homes need to reset so that the butter churn can produce more butter and any planted plants can produce more. The churn is considered "flora" and flora need the ability to be reset. If this is a non-issue, then feel free to set the HF homes to be in the NoResetZone. There are always the outdoor planters that can be used for actual picking.

I also have Lakeview Manor. I dumped my food in a barrel and my alchemical ingredients in a sack. I'm up to level 42 now, and they're still there, no resets.

Well when I tried it (barrels) back during the days of Skyrim 1.5.73, I lost about a thousand potatoes, another ~thousand carrots, and idk 400 leeks. Never tried it again. But maybe it was just some glitch in my particular installation. I don't build the hearthfire homes any more and just use the properties for permanent campgrounds with placeable tents from the "campsite" mod.

PS> I prefer Leanne G's "waterview" player homes for most of my needs, (aside from follower housing), as they have a full set of kitchen and other crafting stations, even if they're not all that spacious.

Thank you for the inputs! really appreciate all the info. . . I just remembered I placed Arvak's Head and other trophy like items in the table and it doesnt disappear, maybe I havent gone for too long for it to reset?
