Weird crashes and need help with my load order

Error137

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I am experiencing some problems with my game, sometimes it crashes after I died and the game loads a previous save, I am currently playing on survival, and I did everything I could. I used LOOT to organize my mods, I used xEdit to clean them and the main files, I deleted some mods that I thought were the problem, but still it crashes. This is how my load order looks like, if anyone has knowladge about how to arrange them properly, I don't really trust LOOT

"I used xEdit to clean them and the main files" and destroyed you game. The main files should never be cleaned and the mod files should only be cleaned by the mod authors. They are the only ones that would know what can be safely removed from the mod.

You best bet at this time is to uninstall all your mods and verify your game files with Steam. Then you can re-download and re-install your mods and let loot sort them.

Why would you not trust loot? Is it because you did a better job with sorting your mods on your own?

"Why would you not trust loot? Is it because you did a better job with sorting your mods on your own?" No, I am very bad at sorting, that's why I asked if my load order looks alright, but I've been told by multiple people and read in some mod's descriptions to not use loot.

On another note, s#*!, I didn't know that xEdit messes up your files, Thank God I made a backup for all the main esms. Thanks for letting me know fam

the people who tell you not to use loot are, to be honest, idiots.

here's a simple question for you;

did following bad advice, such as cleaning the base game files and not using loot work out well for you? if the answer is yes, then carry on. if the answer is no, and the evidence strongly points to this answer, then you need to re-assess your processes and change them, preferably for the better. start by ignoring everything you've read about not using loot and how you MUST clean your mods.

also, are you aware that if you install a mod, then later remove it from your game, that game is to all intents and purposes toast?

for sure you can carry on playing it, but it's wrecked.

bethesda games are not meant to have mods removed during an active play through.

ideally you create a load order, and stick with it until you're done with that game - not even adding mods to it.

if you cant resist messing with your load order then you are going to have a tough time.

i cannot confim that as a mo/mo2 user. i use my oblivion one and only installation since 2015 with hundreds of installed mods and even so many mod (de/re)installions. my fo4 and skyrim runs since 2019. no problems so far and nothing is wrecked. but it is true that some mods need to be uninstalled with caution and that it may have impact on your saves if you do not follow the mod recommendations. so always make backup saves in case. mods without scripting content and even most esp mods not using scripts are not critical at all.

i can confirm that mod uninstallation can be a problem with another mod manager even with texture mods (i had a strange discussion about that). i experienced that problem and you can google it. parts of mods are not deleted (without error messages) and things like that. maybe the problem is solved in the meantime but i'm not sure.

trusting loot is advisable for standard setup. it does most time a good job but it may sort erratic in special complex scenarios and even generates ctd - that is also true. so it can be important to deactivate it in these cases or to be able to manually correct or optimize the load order.

loot doesnt generate ctd's its a load order tool

it generates the ctd indirectly by sorting in the wrong load order (or just failing to sort) in some special cases and this raises the ctd. this was what i meant and what happened to me.

no big deal, just changed manually the the load order and everything worked. is this more understandable ? sorry english is not my native language. maybe you can give me advice to explain it better ?
