Deleted4626711User
I think a cleaned up version of the Brotherhood Recon Armor form Fallout 76 would make a pretty cool mod for Fallout 4. I'm talking about this guy: https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Brotherhood_recon_armor

aurreth
I've always suspected, copyright issues aside, that it would be fairly easy to port stuff from 76 to FO4. I can't see them changing the mesh format all that much. Like I want the Mistress of Mysteries dress. Seems to me if I could get the mesh and texture from 76 I should be able to use Outfit Studio to import and convert. Unfortunately I don't have 76 to experiment with, or I'd try to come up with a way to convert stuff so that you could do it for personal use if you owned both games. Especially since Bethesda made the texture quite rusty for reasons I don't understand. I'm a good artist but I can't make sense of video game textures otherwise I'd do it myself. I still might if I can learn but that'll take a while.
aurreth
Especially since Bethesda made the texture quite rusty for reasons I don't understand. Because apparently no one at Bethesda understands that people have been removing rust from metal since we discovered iron some 3500 years ago (around 1300 BC). Or that any sergeant who finds a hint of rust on a soldier's gear is going to go ballistic (yup, done that a time or two). I can understand rust if you find it in the wild, like on a skeleton, but on gear that is actually in use? But then again Beth thinks people could survive a Massachusetts winter with walls composed of 2 or 3 crooked boards that do nothing to block the wind. ImmortalAbsol
If you think that's a possibility I could get it for you. That would be illegal <snicker>. I thought a system like Tale of Two Wastelands was being suggested, where you have both games purchased and installed and references assets from the other. Mods can use whatever assets you want, as long as you only publish the infrastructure and the user provides their own assets. Falls under both fair use and personal noncommercial use. Which would be fine if the mesh formats were identical, as in you could swap NIF and texture files over from one to the other without any conversions. Converting the meshes is the lion's share of the work, so even owning both games might not be enough.
