Tidus44
The way the National Anthem should be played, crisp, clear and with a pride that is beyond compare. I was in Norfolk Virginia in 1977 and paraded with the USMC and they played Rule Britannia and the US National Anthem and I swear I nearly exploded it was so well done. Anyway Happy 4th July and God Bless Her and keep Her.

Tidus44
estivate: to spend the summer at a specific place or in a certain activity. A week plus of:torrential rain, major flooding, streets closed, 100 kph winds, more torrential rain, highways washed out, more flooding, lightning hit my masonry chimney and blew the top off, more rain, my basement had water leaking in from under the floor through the small cracks, tornadoes and then 18C on one day and 38C the next (with 100% humidity no less). Top it all off, this morning we had a nice haze of smoke (from a forest fire in north) that irritated the crap out of everyone's eyes and throat and gave everything an orange tinge. Not exactly my idea of the specific place nor the activity I want to spend my summer involved in. Bored and want to read something interesting?http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/2a5vg8/i_am_buzz_aldrin_engineer_american_astronaut_and Edited July 9, 2014 by Tidus44
Aurielius
intemperate- conditions or weather that is not comfortable. Considering the relocation of the Jet Stream (due to the Typhoon over Japan) in the next few days we all are going to experience that.

Tidus44
roofs are stupid. They shed firefighting water exactly the same way they shed rain water. Of course anyone on the roof of a burning building is also stupid. Anyway, I learned that once one has torn their lumbar tendon simple activities such as sitting, standing and laying down are impossible due to the pain, and while the drugs can be wonderful they are not specifically conducive to rational thought. I did come to conclusion that I am getting too old for this ..... job. inchoate: partly but not fully in existence or operation.
Aurielius
Empathy- understanding Someone else' s plight. Having torn a shoulder tendon last year I really do understand. They love prescribing escalating levels of pain killers whereas what you want is a solution.
Tidus44
Medical call yesterday afternoon to a local club. Very attractive, very nicely dressed young lady who said she slipped and fell and broke her wrist and (probably) her ankle. The PCP filling out the report form for the hospital asked her occupation and she said "ecdysiast" (ek dizzy ast). The PCP asked her it that was like medical or physical therapist type work and she says, "Sort of, I do make people feel better." When we got back to the hall the PCP apparently looked the word up and it turns out, ecdysiast - is a stripper.
