okay so I played my char got him to lvl 20 and all that good stuff. but guess what IM BORED!!!! and I Wanna start a new game. but I wanna play as my character. but how do I make him look exactly the same? :( is there a way or a mod that can copy my orginal character exact face gemotrey? or a mod that can show me numbers so I know what to copy at what magnitude (for example nose would be :5 etc)

bumping this up cause I really do want this question answered and I dont think I described it in the best way. heres something simple

 

is there a way I can copy the exact face geomtry of my character and then apply it to a new character?

Sorry, I haven't had a chance to try it out personally, When I saw that I thought it might be what you needed.

 

Getting it as I type though.

 

Added: just tried it out...

 

does it work?

yes, does work, does not change the hair & I'm not sure about the eyes. added the eye texture isn't changed

 

do you know how it works?

basically it copies PC (player character) facegen (geometry & skintone) info from one savegame to another one. you choose the input & output files

 

do you use it?

Sorry about the questions would have tried it myself but...it appeared I downloaded the wrong thing! XD guy had two links to his post one with codes and one with the program I got codes as opposed to progam. I dl'ed the program last night works like a charm. thank you very much.

Now that I think about it....they mentioned oblivion in the post...I wonder if I can transfer face from Fallout 3 to Oblivion and vice versa? not going to trying just something to think about :P

Transfering from/to Oblivion should be tough due to differences in the game models and texturing... but more power to you if you can get it done.

 

And, if you do find a way to get your exact facial features again...

 

When you start a new game, do the actions in the beginning as you would for ANY character... gather ALL the items you can (or can't... being MASSIVELY encumbered) carry and save your game in the cave, before reaching the door out to the wasteland.

 

Now... NEVER OVERWRITE THAT SAVEGAME.

 

You now have a way to play the game with the same face everytime you play the game, no matter what skillset you decide to play with. Just edit your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats and Skills, even pick a new name, if so inclined, and re-enter the world at Lvl.2 again. (And, if you do decide to change your face again, you can do that there, as well.)

 

Then you can drop what you don't want/need at the entrance to Vault 101 (or schlep it to Megaton to sell... your choice) and be on your way.

 

I currently have both a Male and a Female character saved at just that spot, for just that reason.

Ah so you accidentally dled the source code, I almost did the same thing.

 

BTW did you get the updated version that was deeper in the thread, the 2B version?

 

oh no I didnt why? whats does the 2b version do? are these files on the Nexus? if not they should be.

Thanks to Gloomfrost I've found a bug in the exchanger. If your character has a name that's part of a name in the Active plug-in list you'll get a delimiter error. i.e. your character's name is Bob and you use an esp called New Bobbleheads.esp you'll get the error. This is because the program searches for your character's name in the save file. (This is how I locate the FaceGen data - it's usually a few bytes after your character's name).
