Dubnoman
Adept - and I use mods for challenge making it actually harder than Legendary when facing a strong opponent(s). Most are AI related mods and giving opponents better equipment that would actually make sense... because a lvl25 opponent should not come at you armed with an iron dagger or wood club. Also me and NPCs deal more damage... so if I take 1 arrow to the chest I am as good as dead. I would be happy if someone would remove "Health" alltogether. No matter how strong you get - a person would not get more "Health" ... Dragons, Mammoths, Giants, obviously should have a bit more (but nothing out of proportion)... things should scale with armor. This would make a hell of a lot more sense. Stamina you can train, health? NO. This whole Health thing takes the game off balance. What mod or mods give opponents better equipment at higher levels? RatcatcherOfKvatch
Good advice re: 85% MR cap. You can get very protected very early if you know to do it. For low-mid level players, before you change over to cost-reducing gear, MA (Atronach Stone & Alteration perk) comes in really handy, especially in dragon fights which at low levels are wars of attrition. Recharging on dragon breath puts time on your side. Any mages that use concentration spells are toast; put Healing on one hand and Flames on the other and even on Legendary they'll curse and scream and get up in your face while you're calmly healing yourself with one hand and burning them alive with the other. Even the dreaded spriggans are easy kills; their sickly green attack spell, deadly as it is, is also very costly, which means recharging off it keeps your tank full pretty much the entire fight. At high levels 85 MR / 30 MA is probably best. You could squeeze a little more protection out of your gear, hit 85/80, but why not just use that MR slot for another Fortify Health and settle for 85/30? The "Pure Legendary Mage" is a great way to work out your frustrations the way boxers hit the speedbag, repeatedly blasting away at a target without harming it until all your stress from the workday is gone, but it's not so good for actually defeating powerful opponents. You really have to either go on the juice with a Fortify Destruct potion or forge yourself a ridiculously overpowered weapon to balance the ridiculously high difficulty. If I live long enough to marry Brelyna I'll get to see what she can do with a Staff of Incineration. In my hands it would barely roast marshmallows, but it'll work better for her. We'll see. OozyGorilla
I play on Master for the majority of the time (haven't tried Legendary really). I use a mod called Do Not Change My Damage that makes player damage consistent across all difficulties. The issue I had with the higher difficulty was how my damage was so pitiful while at the same time the NPC's damage went up. Keeping the player damage the same greatly helps, in my opinion. Enemies getting harder is fine but why add to it by making me weaker? Makes no sense to me.
rizon72
I don't bother changing the difficulty, whatever is the default is what I use. Personally, its the only lore breaking part of the game for me. If I have to repeat going after one boss a half dozen times, that's immersion breaking. I'm the dragonborn, I should be able to go the entire game and not die once. RatcatcherOfKvatch
Permadeath is always good for immersion. If you have a heart condition your doctor may advise against it, but it's definitely immersive. For full effect you have to die a few times first. "Now I bet you'll be more careful around giants!" Legendary difficulty is ... I don't know, running scared from anything sharp and/or made of metal is kind of realistic but not all that heroic. The trick is over time you slowly get stronger and build your heroic persona brick by brick. All those people you used to either run from or hide behind you finally become strong enough to change the dynamic. You would earn their respect if they understood how you'd changed. Pretty frustrating on Legendary still. Conjuration was my fall back in earlier days, but now, I don't know. My guy is becoming an Alchemist just to stay alive. Orchendor basically ran me out of the ruins. (I don't know why dragons are so feared in Skyrim; Orchendor and Briarhearts are the ones to really be afraid of; I think either one could lay waste to the entire province.) I need MUCH better stuff. A long time ago, I tried some strange characters. One was an Entreprenuer; he tried to buy his way to the top. He might just have a chance on Legendary. Or maybe my Master Artisan (crafting skills guy). What I really need is a conjured bow that shoots backwards, or potions that explode when you lob them over your shoulder while running away. :)

Argrista
I run it on the highest difficulty possible. (I always do this in games call me masochist or Dark Souls aficionado whatever) Anyways I especially enjoy the SkyRe overhaul. Because b&@*$ as people might guess what. A Navy Seal In the best armor possible still dies if a bullet Nails him in the head...
magicrealm
WOW Players should play at Novice. If you want WOW Hero Mode then play at Apprentice,Everyything else is nothing for you Slackers. OMG How could Germany lost War against those Mickerings here ? i play Legendary from the beginning and nothing else. and i play with 1/2 to 1/4 levelspeed. Thats what oldschool Classic Players do, because thats how games have been before WOW dummied the mob. Edited July 1, 2013 by magicrealm
