I want to utilize all the space they give me to create a vault and a under ground society but that would lag my computer does anyone know how I can create loading doors or split the site to create two different areas

Vault 88? You can't.

 

You can't unless you use the Creation Kit to split it into multiple cells. And, since a settlement can't contain multiple cells separated by a load screen (and I so wish they could), you'd have to divide it up into multiple settlements. Getting interior settlements to work correctly is not a straightforward, simple thing to do, and your settlers would not move between them.

 

You can improve performance by not using HD textures and by limiting light sources. I know that 88 is pretty dark, but instead of using lights all over the place try a mod like Settlement Objects Expanded which has sourceless, omnidirectional lights (basically floating, glowing, invisible spheres). Hanging one of those in the middle of the atrium works better than a few dozen ceiling lights and is way less laggy. I'd also recommend using a clean start mod such as Clean and Simple (that one is no longer available unfortunately) that removes tons of debris and clutter.
