Darnoc
Fo Shizzle, um, anyone forget drugs. Ancient people used narcotics as if a way to talk to thier gods. That includes Jesus's time! Who knows, maybe he did the same thing. May I remind you that in any semitic religion (Judaism, Islam and Christianity, since Christianity originates from the old Hebrew religion) narcotics are forbidden. Neither in Islam or Judaism alcohol or any other drug was/is allowed. Christianity doesn't really have a rule against it (since Paul has written "everything is allowed"), but it is considered not to be good when one takes narcotics. During the time Jesus lived, the jewish religion was very strict concerning the rules of Moses. Meaning that there was no way any religious leader could have used narcotics without being outcast immedeatly. In Islam there exists a sect called the Sufis and they do use narcotics in order to fall in trance and experience Allah. But they are not recognized by most muslims, at least not be the strict muslims who go by the book (meaning the Coran).
tyjet3
Actually, weed was very commonly smoked in that time period. It even states in the bible something about smoking a "green plant"... And by the way... Twins are not the same as clones... trying to get back on topic... _it_
there was this herb wich has a name wich resembles cannabis (a.k.a. weed) that jesus used to heal a person so that could also mean that cannabis was used for medical purposes at that time
Tinduriel
I don't really get the point of this article or the whole debate. Of course everything that humans experience, be it mentaly or physically, can be explained by sience. I don't think that anybody is saying that their "divine experiense" or what-ever-you-prefer-to-call-them aren't some kind of brain activity. Surely a divine being would have chose a method of inspiring its believers that is impossible to copy? And surely you must be a divine being to be able tell what a divine being would have chosen and what a divine being wouldn't have chosen.

Peregrine
Let's see... reviving a two month old thread to massively violate forum rules and flame all religious people. Perhaps you should read my anti-religion posts in some of the older threads and see how that ends? I'll give you a hint: This is your third strike, and you're now banned.
