The possibility of modding Brink?

So I've recently rediscovered Brink, the strategic first person shooter with a few RPG elements in it (that's just how Bethesda roll!) This game was incredibly fun for me, but in a few ways, it let me down. The reloading animations felt a little half-assed and the customization for the weapons felt like there could've been more. But the gameplay was there and it was excellent (but there is always room for improvement)

Which leads me to the question:

What is the possibility of modding Brink?

To be able to see an AK-103 (for example), set up with all the good stuff (New sights, fore grips, real world suppressors etc. and compatibility for both Security and the Resistance) plus sexy animations... that would be a dream come true :') Currently, I don't have Brink set up on my PC (just on Xbox) but if this gets the OK for the possibility of mods, then this game will become a must-have for PC... well, for me. Plus, it would give me more the reason to take up really considering to take the time to learn how to make proper models etc.

Thanks for taking the time to consider this :)

if it doesnt already support mods, then it wont. Brink is already an old forgotten game, loved only by few. it was a failure in the eyes of many and a laughing stock. as i said, this game was only loved by the minority (myself included) so if it doesnt have modding already, then it wont.

This post reminds me of Zeno Clash 1 or Dark Messiah. By the time modding toolsets released, the games were utterly forgotten and nobody even used them. :'(

I didn't even know Dark Messiah had modding tools released at all. It was a pretty ace game so you'd expect people to mod it, even if the tools were late.

From what I understand, a version of the Hammer Editor (Source dev kit) released for it eventually. I have it downloaded, but I haven't installed it yet. I love Dark Messiah, but there's not much point to mod it right now when I have 2 Skyrim mods in WiP.

Thought I'd quickly ninja necro this thread to express my indignation. Brink was never a laughing stock, merely a departure from the reassuringly conventional. Despite its trivial flaws, it was, and to my mind, still is a welcome antidote to a genre saturated by CoD clones. I've yet to encounter an FPS, let a lone a TFPS that offers such a dizzying array of customisation options. The damage model may be an acquired taste for some but when one-shot kills are restricted to headshots from buffed snipers with bolt action rifles, the necessity for tactical forethought becomes so much more rewarding - the game forgives neither camper nor berserker. It also means that medics, engineers and spies all have a genuinely valuable contribution to make and more often than not, will swing the tide of battle.

Like you, I love Brink. I don't expect others to mirror my sentiments but one thing the game isn't is a laughing stock.

no, it really was a laughing stock. read reviews. read comments from those who didnt like it. it was slammed, and slammed hard. people either loved it or hated it.
