Death_Penalty
Heh. I work in a computershop and I DL (and UL) whatever I want. Everyone at my work knows it, and they don't care about it, in fact, my boss came asking where he could get X for free. :D I still buy a lot of games, I just like to have a manual, and games like Morrowind are absolutely worth it. However, last year there were a lot of poo games I just wished I DLed instead of wasted my cash on. After Age of Mythology I swore never to pay for a Microsux product again. What an utter rip-off! As for music, I don't really listen to much music, but I never really buy any CDs. They are 20 Euro's here! No, I am NOT going to spend that kind of money on music! 5 Euro's, thats max! Same with DVDs, damn expensive, and besides, who is going to buy that when you get the DivX before the movie hits the cinemas? Indeed, I see nothing wrong with that. The companies should stop their Fargoth-style-moaning and make the stuff cheaper, or at least give something good for the money. Then I have no problem paying for it. I just don't want to be ripped off anymore.
Switch
I agree, the music and movies thing is a ripoff.....$20-30 for a damn dvd is outrageous. Then $15-20 for a cd is just stupid. I dont pirate movies, but i'd like to know if a band is good before i buy the cd. Same with games. I wanna know if the game is good before i buy it. understand? thats what demos are for. tho they can be kind of misleading in some cases. as for games which dont come with demos well then its the companies fault isnt it :P also i knew that kazaa was worldwide (im in UK) but 800,000 is still a lot when just looking at the figure (which is probably just about all these people who b*tch about it on tv do) but seems small when compared to the overall population. Shakkara
Well, it's not just Kazaa and eMule and Napster and all the usergroups/newsgroups. In the Phillipines or China or even Turkey, it's harder to get a real CD then a copied one, since they sell the copies in shops! For about 2 dollar! The_Reaper
Eh? Just plain lending, like to a friend for a few days to play with, no burning whatsoever, is bad too? WTF? Someone better haul my arse to jail now, I've lent and borrowed books, movies, cd's, games (actually, I've never borrowed a game), etc etc. (all were returned uncopied btw) Good Lord. ~_~ Yes you´ll defentely burn in hell! :P

boohoomoo
Yes. In eastern Asia, and especially China, you will be very hard pressed to find software, music, or movie media that isn't an illegal copy. However, since most of the people over there do not like the US (to put it mildly), they don't care and know nothing will happen to them. Seems to me if the RIAA was really worried about losing profits, they'd go after them. Rather, I think this is more a power grab; they've got our money, now they want power to control us. Shakkara
Heh, they will never control us, if they destroy something like Napster, then 3 more take it's place. And after they sue people they traced the IPs off with Kazaa then someone makes an anonymous service where all traffic is rerouted through something else first to mask the IP.
