ScottMcCloud
Hi, I've playing the Metro Game series, and in the last instalment (Metro Exodus), they tried a ver "interesting" approach to crafting. You can collect materiales, like in Fallout 4, but only 2 type (Mechanical and Chemical), one being use for weapons modifications and the other mainly for grenades and whatnot. Also, to craft modifications for guns you first need to find them or take them apart from guns previously owned by enemies or found on the map (kinda made me remember the Crysis weapon modifications). So, my idea would be to have "some" types of resources (not as many as vanilla Fallout 4, since really there's too many), some for "crafting" others for "building". Crafting could be separated in "crafting weapons, "crafting" armor", "crafting clothes", etc... In weapon modifications, my idea would be to find them on other weapons, so you would have to carry the guns, take them apart and get the modifications (and resources). The catch would be to have the guns, armor, etc with full weight (as well as the modifications, so any change in the gun would alter its weight) but make resources weightless only if you can set caps for them (otherwise the weight should be minimal (not as well as bullets but still). I don't think crafting modifications should be a part of the game (sure, it makes the game fun if you want to change guns, bu I don't really "like" the settlement building, but I would really love it if you could rent rooms in them or build a simple crafting stations so you could modify your equipment, and take weapons apart on the go, while travelling from one place to the next, so this would make the time you spend building a settlement fun, also you'll need it if you grabbed a lot of things and just want to disassemble them. T.L;D.R: - Have the inventory resources simplified, into resource A for crafting, and resource B for building.- Have the weapon/armor modifications crafting method removed from the game, so you would have to "buy" the mods or "get" them from other guns in the world.- Have mods and weapons weight modified (reduced a bit), and have every resource weightless, so you'd have to stop once in a while to break stuff apart while travelling- Maybe add some kind of rules to the inventory, so there will be limits to every item. aurreth
1. Sooooo you want a complete rewrite of every single recipe in the game. Every crafting/building recipe, and every scrap recipe. Including DLCs. Do you have any idea just how many that is? 2. You can already do that. Buy mods, or strip them off of found weapons. Even mods that are too high for you to make, if you find them you can pull them off one weapon and put them on another. I frequently have weapons that are better than what I could make myself. 3. If everything is weightless why do I need to stop to break something up? 4. That might be doable, but there's no logic to it. Weight is always the limiting factor. It's always a trade off, do I carry more ammunition, or more food and water.
