Game keeps crashing after joining the imperial legion

I have no idea what's going wrong.

My game just simply ctd everytime I try to join the imperial legion.

This has been happening after I started using Vortex.

 

So when I go to castle dior (I used the alternate start method)

As soon as the messages pop up to report to Rikke to hear about the Jaggered Crown, the game just crashes.

 

Even using console to skip past the quest just causes me to ctd just as soon as I fast travel.

So upon troubleshooting and disabling plugins, and narrowing down possible culprits,

I found that the ctds occur with Populated Lands Roads Paths Legendary

enabled:

With this mod disabled, I was able to play the game without crashes; that's after jumping over walls, fast travelling to different cities, swimming, entering caves and exiting.

the crashes stopped with ppulated Lands Roads Paths installed, but happen immediately with it installed.

Has anybody had issues with this mod? :confused:

Any idea why these crashes are occuring with this mod installed, and any idea how to get it to work?

Any more insight somebody can provide would be much appreciated.

I have never tried that version of the mod.

I use the Populated Reborn series and have not had CTD issues related to joining the Imperials.

I use the Legendary version that you use lefttounge and have never had a problem with it. I have a pretty standard mod list, 155 mods so I would suspect that there is a conflict with one of your other mods. I last used the reborn mod a couple of years ago, not sure why I switched, probably because Reborn was last updated in 2016 and Legendary in 2021.

After testing it again, after still getting crashes, I think they might be coming from my load order; jk skyrim is up too high, so I placed it at the very bottom, and my crashes seem to have stopped :huh:

But after extensive testing, debugging, disabling and enabling mods, loading and testing saves both interior and exterior, I found that populated roads is the culprit.

With it uninstalled the crashes stop and I can play again
