Mummified
I know the question of Linux support for Vortex has been asked before. But presumably we will be seeing millions of new gamers on Linux over the next year or so via the Steam Deck. I'm curious if this will have any effect on The Nexus' prioritization of Vortex compatibility with Linux and in particular Arch since SteamOS 3.0 will be based on it. Pickysaurus
I'm not sure this will become a "priority" but there are already ways to get Vortex running on Linux using Wine. So if the decks supports that, it'll at least be possible. A native Linux version may arrive one day. It's just a "nice to have" rather than a "need to have". Of course, if the Linux community (who tend to be pretty technical) want to work with us on a Linux port, that would speed things up as Vortex is entirely open source. Karbuster
i too, am extremely interested in getting native linux support for vortex as it is a lifesaver for the two games i love to mod the mostI am not terribly well versed in porting programs yet but id be willing to assist someone in whatever way i can
KCkingcollin420
I dont really understand the hold up i would imagine a program like this would be a lot easier to port to linux due to bash shell being so much easier and more versatile, i mean sys links in linux are objectively easier to implement in software tbh id almost be willing to do it myself if i had the time its really only a game of UI porting. rmm200
Before you hop on this, look at all the bits and pieces that make up Vortex. Vortex itself is relatively small - it gets almost all it's function from common libraries. There may be Linux equivalents for most of those libraries - but getting it all working together is likely to be a chore.
