  1. Pickysaurus's post in Mod can be updated (but you will have to pick the file yourself) was marked as the answer
When you update your mod, it's best to hover over "Manage" on the previous version and select "Upload new version" OR put the old version into the field that says which file the new upload is replacing.

If you didn't do this Vortex can't easily work out which file should be downloaded as an update.

It's also worth noting that any free user account will be required to open the website anyway.
  2. Pickysaurus's post in How to get the pop up back to fix loose files? was marked as the answer
Restart Vortex to get any setup checks to re-run.
  3. Pickysaurus's post in No Vortex API key within my account. was marked as the answer
Vortex doesn't use API keys anymore, you probably have a super out-of-date version of Vortex, try downloading the latest version and install it over what you have.
  4. Pickysaurus's post in backup strategy was marked as the answer
You want all 3 folders for a full backup. If you have to axe one, it'd be the downloads folder. Most mods can be reacquired from the site, but your changes in the staging folder can't be reapplied as easy.
  5. Pickysaurus's post in Vortex "File Busy" was marked as the answer
You shouldn't have the game open when installing mods. If you want to play while it downloads you can turn off the install when the download completes in settings.
  6. Pickysaurus's post in Problem with nexus (Check Failed mod but dont'have Error shows) was marked as the answer
Please see this pinned post for the solution. This error is caused by something being very broken in your .NET 6 install

  7. Pickysaurus's post in "Game not found" was marked as the answer
You need to pick the top level "Gotham Knights" folder, not the one with the EXE in it.
  8. Pickysaurus's post in Vortex - "invalid" SSL Certificate - SSL Proxy was marked as the answer
This is almost always caused by local security apps interfering with normal certificates. Either than or you need to install the latest Windows Updates on your PC.
  9. Pickysaurus's post in Mods not downloading manually was marked as the answer
Scroll down the page ever so slightly so see the Download buttons.
  10. Pickysaurus's post in Vortex loading in mods I have disabled was marked as the answer
Something outside of Vortex is messing with your load order. Probably the in-game "Plugins" or "Mods" menus, don't open those.
  11. Pickysaurus's post in Any way to change the default or suggested Staging folder? was marked as the answer
There is no way to change the default. You can make a suggestion for it though!
  12. Pickysaurus's post in tried moving vortex to a new hard-drive - did not go well and wanted a little bit of guidance. was marked as the answer
You probably removed the appdata folder containing all Vortex's metadata. See this help article for the details on which files and folder need to be move when relocating Vortex: https://modding.wiki/en/vortex/users/migrating-to-a-new-pc
  13. Pickysaurus's post in Vortex not downloading mods was marked as the answer
If the downloads don't even start in Vortex (or manually) you should see this page: https://help.nexusmods.com/article/113-troubleshooting-website-issues
  14. Pickysaurus's post in Game location doesn't exist or isn't writeable was marked as the answer
As the error says, it's looking for a file with the name in the error, but you have a folder with that name instead (somehow?). Delete the folder at that path and it should fix the issue.
  15. Pickysaurus's post in Vortex Uninstall key missing was marked as the answer
Reinstalling Vortex will just repair your install of the mod manager, it won't change your mods.
  16. Pickysaurus's post in Some mods just aren't downloading. was marked as the answer
This isn't really related to Vortex (unless you download direct via the browser and not via Vortex). Please see this guide for help: https://help.nexusmods.com/article/92-im-having-download-issues-what-can-i-do
  17. Pickysaurus's post in LSLib Error was marked as the answer

  18. Pickysaurus's post in Dungeon Siege 1 - extension not loading correctly was marked as the answer
The extension developer needs to fix that. They have put 1.1 which is invalid. They need to change it to 1.1.0
  19. Pickysaurus's post in "vortex.exe" not found was marked as the answer
Try installing it again. It looks like your anti-virus probably deleted the EXE file, so you may need to turn that off or add an exception for Vortex.
  20. Pickysaurus's post in Doom Eternal doesn't appear on the games list was marked as the answer
It seems the community developer who created support for that game has removed or hidden their page. I'll remove it from the supported list now.
  21. Pickysaurus's post in Hogwarts Legacy Not Showing Up in Vortex. was marked as the answer
Hmm, do you have the Hogwarts extension installed twice? Or any other UE games?
  22. Pickysaurus's post in Backing up mods moving to a new drive was marked as the answer
This page from the built in documentation should help https://modding.wiki/en/vortex/users/migrating-to-a-new-pc
  23. Pickysaurus's post in Mod stuck on "installing" (even though its uninstalled) was marked as the answer
Go to "Open" -> "Open Mod Staging Folder" on the toolbar and delete the folder for that mod. Then restart Vortex. If it's stuck like that it usually means you (or something on your PC) violently interrupted an install process - something like pulling the power cable out of the PC while Vortex is installing something.
  24. Pickysaurus's post in Vortex Stuck on Preparing Game for Modding (1.10.8) was marked as the answer
Sounds like you've locked your Skyrim folder behind admin permissions.
