Lehcar
Say "Aye" if you absolutely hate Maven Black-Briar. I probably don't need to explain why. The only reason I'm complaining about this is because I'm really, really unhappy that when playing through the Thieves Guild quest line, you're shoehorned into supporting her and being one of her lackeys, and a significant portion of the storyline and quests are about nothing but helping to further her ambitions. For me, that totally killed the Skyrim's TG. I don't play it, fullstop. And to make it worse, she becomes the froggin' Jarl of Riften if you support the Imperial Legion in the Civil War... seriously, WHAT THE HAY. Oblivion's TG rocked, because it was fierce and independant. A band of thieves dedicated to theivery. They weren't in any pompous rich jerk's pocket. Or anyone's pocket, for that matter. I also detest being forced to destroy the Honningbrew Meadery. Because Honningbrew is oh so tasty and delicious. Like a fair maiden's kiss. Yum yum. billyro
I don't see any reason to be apart of the Thieves Guild at all. They are scraping the bottom of the barrel as it is and still have the gall to treat the Dragonborn like dirt. Being pro Maven Black-Briar grants them a ticket to the pointy end of a sword. I still completed the TG questline once, but never again. So much wrong with it. I've seen some arguments that the Thieves Guild is an improvement over Oblivion's, because you aren't being Robin Hood and stealing from the rich to give to the poor, but actually trying to steal for personal profit. I think this argument is swiftly destroyed with your initial statement that the TG are almost puppets to Maven Black-Briar. Solution: kill Maven. With mods. So she dies. Yay. :)
Nudedragon
Maven exists to be hated, just a reminder that the empire has downsides too.
Deleted2627243User
She's most likely placed in a position of power due to her various connections in the criminal underworld. The Imperials would most likely use these to their advantage; however it most likely is down to their fear of the same connections. Even if you side with the Stormcloaks, she simply remains in Riften. This is likely due to Maven's level of influence in Riften and the rest of Skyrim. Just a reminder that sometimes bad guys (or girls) win whatever choice you make.
demonicslayer85
Well, I do hate her a lot. In fact I was hoping to make her a sacrifice to Boethiah by changing the commands from Essential NPC to Non-Essential. That way she will see her ways in Oblivion. Although I complete all the mission in Thieves Guild, but I ended up putting his son Sibbi Black-Briar to the coffin after her son's deed to that young girl. If this game is made to be complicated, I think I'll be happy to make enemies out of the Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guilds and Maven Black-Briar. Destroying them thoroughly would have made the fight interesting but I don't want to spoil the game progress.
Anska
I detest her as a person but enjoy her as a character. Whenever I think, that I have seen the worst of her, she manages to surprise me by sinking yet another tiny bit lower on the likeable skale. Apart from this, I don't think the TG are puppets. They are simply trying not to anger their last important client, who has a tendency to be ... a bit dificult to please. Also I think the argument about some people prefering the TG from Skyrim over that from Oblivion (at least the one I read) went into the direction that they prefered the Riften Guild because there is no way to sugar-coat that they are a criminal organization by saying that it's all for a good cause or such. If you want to play a good, lawful character in Skyrim, you have to skip the Thieves Guild. ... Although it is probably debatable whether or not the Guild in Oblivion is so very robin-hoodish. MidbossVyers
Just rob her house whenever the Thieves Guild has you do a Bedlam Job in Riften.

Although it is probably debatable whether or not the Guild in Oblivion is so very robin-hoodish.I am not actually lawful but just hate the way they conduct business and causing troubles to all my NPCs. The next time I went in I am like playing a double agent XD .For Dark Brotherhood case, dont really want to kill any NPCs when the town is already lacking in NPCs. Next you take out another few more... damn. Sometimes, this causes a few more NPCs to die. I don't exactly like it. I felt that they really need to change the mechanics of sneaking and detecting. It doesnt seem to work too well. You can walk on broad daylight because you have a superhigh sneaking ability. Doesn't make sense.
Anska
Just rob her house whenever the Thieves Guild has you do a Bedlam Job in Riften. Yes ... I did this once. Even though she has a "Protected" mark on her house, I think. But I thought, "What the heck! As long as I don't get caught, it doesn't matter." (And I totally agree about the sneak-mechanics, DemonicSlayer.) After I had almost all her silverware and about every other item of value in the house in my spacious pockets though, it dawned on me that something was off. By all means I should have had the quest finished after clearing the dining room alone. Figures, that at some point taking things from her home doesn't count as stealing anymore ... I was thoroughly disappointed and didn't know who else to steal the stuff from, because I actually like most of the other NPC in Riften (including the Guild). TheVampireDante
Remove her essential status (if she has it, I can't recall at the moment) and take her out at home. Say the Dark Brotherhood must have had a contract on her.
