In-game!? Seriously?? They do say "in-game art"... could that be some sort of technical term?

If that is from the in-game engine... ouch. Looks like it's going to be as ahead of it's time as the last one. :D *Drools*

It just sucks that they're making us get a magazine to find out about it. :P Oh well.

I'm just glad it's finally been undeniably confirmed that it's in development, and not only that, since they have screenshots it must at least be in alpha stages. ^^

A release before the end of 2005? Dare I hope? :P

Again, according to the devs it will be made available for PC, PS3, and XBOX2. Also, they now say it has been in development since 2002, which is about a year longer than I would have thought.

For what it is worth, several websites that do advance sales on games are showing a September 1, 2005 release date for Oblivion..... but I'm taking that with a grain of salt. I think October or November, closer to Christmas, is more likely.

I'm just sick of Sony having all of the good RPGs, that's all. PS2 is as much of a mortal enemy to me as a gamer as inline-skaters are to me as a skateboarder.

In case you couldn't understand that, I really, really, hate PS2. :P

I think the only rpg's ps2 has are the final fantasy series which i personally believe would be better played and enjoyed on the pc since the game is command based when it comes to battles and the ingame play style does not require quick or skillfull movement.

So far the little bit of info that's leaked out about Oblivion seems to be a mixed bag.

First, the good. The graphics, in a word, shall be incredible. Characters will have facial expressions that will vary according to how much they like you and what they are saying. There will be people of many different ages (though no children, of course) to gove it a more varied feel. All NPC's will be truly unique, with schedules to sleep, eat, etc. Conversations are reported to be drastically improved, and are descriped as open and free flowing. There will be beggars and pickpockets who will actually attempt to randomly steal from anyone, including the PC. The CS is supposed to be drastically improved.

Then there are the parts which, while not necessarily bad, are certainly worrisome. There is a lot of talk about how much focus is going into the combat system, making a variety of different moves and combos, with PC's and NPC's able to duck, dodge, block, and so on (also, blood and gore, for those who care about such). All that really makes you wonder if it will become an action game rather than the RPG we're spoiled to. Also, actions like lockpicking and armor repair will now require the player to complete a 'minigame' to complete the action. But perhaps most worrisome of all, the world will be smaller than Morrowind, with around 1000 NPC's (Morrowind had over 2500).

There's still a little more than a year before release, and only time will tell whether or not the concerns over this early information is warranted, so at the moment, I'm trying to stay level..... not to get too excited about the upcoming game, so that I won't be overly disappointed, and might be pleasantly surprised.
