Dogmeat Carry Weight in Survival Mode Fix

Normally in survival mode, Dogmeat has his carry weight reduced to 25 from 150 using a magic effect but when equipping him with any gear like a bandana or dog armor, his carry weight is increased back to 150. There's already a workaround mod on the Nexus (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22851). Fixing the source problem would work much better than a workaround but I'm willing to accept that it's the only solution. I'm not very well acquainted with the CK but I did some in-game testing and determined that Dogmeat has the weight-reducing magic effect applied to him but it somehow breaks when equipping things so it may be an engine level thing(?). I was hoping someone with more modding experience could try to tackle this issue.

Erm, sounds like you'd just change the magic effect to add/subtract zero, then reduce Dogmeats carry weight to 25. Then only enable the mod if you are playing on Survival. And since that only changes two numbers it should work on existing saves as well as new ones.

I'll try to remember to look later on today after I've had some coffee.

That's actually exactly what the workaround I linked does. I'll just stick with that then. Thanks for the reply.

Sorry I couldn't be more help, that really is the easiest way to fix it. Honestly, thinking about it, you probably don't even have to mess with the magic effect. Probably all it does is set the carry weight to 25, rather than reduce it by 125. If you change the base of Dogmeat to 25 then the magic effect wouldn't actually do anything, just set the weight to what you've already set.

The key would be to look for what condition UNSETS the magic effect, then make sure that never occurs.
